Chapter 269: The Golden Key(End)

Time flew by, and several more seconds passed.

Despite using the entire strength of her body, Elsie wasnʼt able to budge the golden key. Aakesh also didnʼt stop her due to no time limit.

Veins could be clearly seen across her body as even her clothes had begun to tear due to the tightness. Elsie didnʼt give up and still gave her all.

It was her chance to soar into the sky in a single step. She couldnʼt give it up due to not trying hard. If she did that, she would live in regret for her entire life, thinking about what if she had given her best, despite knowing that the story wouldʼve been the same. But even if there was a minimal chance of her succeeding in picking up the key, she wanted to take it.

Time flew by. Every second that Elsie failed to pick up the key felt like mental torture to her. At that moment, she wanted to give up right away, and at the same time, she wanted to give her all and pick up the key.

One second passed, two seconds passed,….thirty seconds passed,....forty-seven seconds passed,....fifty-one seconds passed.

Right at fifty-second second, she lost all her strength. She lost her grip on the key and crashed down the floor, making a loud sound.

Aakesh expressionlessly looked at everything happening in front of him. The moment Elsie let go of the golden key, her attempt was over. She could now never pick up the key.

Aakesh ignored Elsie, lying on the ground with a dead face and tears spilling all over her face. He took a step forward, bent down, and effortlessly picked up the golden key. He then put it back into his money-carrying pouch.

”With this, I owe you nothing from now on,” Aakesh expressionlessly told Elsie and turned around to leave.

”Why...why did I...I...I fai...fail?” Elsie asked Aakesh while tears continuously flowed through her eyes.

Failing at the tests with unknown qualifications always felt more painful than failing the tests people know everything about. Elsie felt the same after not even being able to budge the golden key despite giving her all in the effort.

Aakesh didnʼt answer and left the house. Elsie didnʼt ask again and continued lying on the floor.

Since Aakesh had threatened the army chief not to enter the house, he didnʼt dare do it. He was confident that Aakesh was returning the favor, so he couldnʼt help but be nervous, thinking about what Aakesh was going to give.

Every second that he stayed outside the house, waiting for Aakesh and Elsie to come back was like an eternity for him. Several times, during those seconds, he thought of disregarding Aakeshʼs threat and entering the house, but he controlled himself and didnʼt enter.

While waiting, he heard a loud crashing sound from his house. Thinking that something had happened to his daughter, he subconsciously took a step forward, but the next moment, the memory of Aakeshʼs threat emerged in his heart.

The army chief fell in a dilemma after that since, on one side, his daughter was in danger, and on the other side, if he disregarded Aakeshʼs threat and entered the house, he would also be in danger.

The guard standing at the house couldnʼt help but feel cold, seeing the army chiefʼs reaction at his daughter in danger. He himself was a father and was sure that if his son was in place of the army chiefʼs daughter, he wouldnʼt think of anything and would enter the house. He didnʼt dare to show his emotions on his face as the adventurer was out of range of the army chief, but he wasnʼt. With just a snap of his finger, the army chief could kill him.

The army chief was facing a dilemma when he heard the sound of footsteps. He looked at the door and saw Aakesh exiting the house.

He then looked behind to see whether his daughter was also there, but he didnʼt find her.

”What did you do to my daughter?” The army chief asked with a mix of emotions in his voice. His voice contained concern as well as anger.

Aakesh ignored the question and instead informed something else to the army chief, making the breathing of both the army chief and the guard rough.

Since Elsie had already lost her chance at picking up the key and taking over the top position of Wolfden, Aakesh had already decided what to do with the key.

At first, he was going to trade the wolf king egg with the people of Wolfden in an auction. After seeing Elsie failing to own the key, he decided to add it to the trading option too.

In the actual world, he didnʼt need money, but in Panagea, he needed it since the system didnʼt give him everything, so the more soul stones he had, the better for him.

Aakesh announced the time of the auction twenty-four hours later since the amount needed to buy the egg wasnʼt something that could be taken out of thin air. The citizens needed time to prepare for that.

Since the key couldnʼt be traded like the egg, Aakesh had already decided what way he would make money through it.

He then told the army chief to announce the information to every citizen of the town since he had no interest in traveling all around Wolfden to inform the citizens about the auction.

As for the army chief not informing anyone about the auction, Aakesh didnʼt worry since no one wanted to die an unfortunate death.

Since there was nothing else to do after that, Aakesh disappeared from the area, ignoring the reaction of the army chief and the guard.

He didnʼt leave the town since there was still time left for the sun to rise in Visteerna.

Since the town was going through a rough phase at this moment, there were also going to be citizens that would gain something from this situation.

Since he had already reached Level 40, why not a few more?

He activated the skill, Universal-Eye, and Fortune-Eye at the same time. He didnʼt have much energy left, and he also didnʼt want to spend too much energy, so he couldnʼt activate the skill for long.

He selected one being he found in the range and began following him.
