Chapter 1590: The Second Great Demon War

A moment ago.

”What’s wrong?” A sailor asked his father, who was a fisherman. ”Is there something worrying you, Dad?”

”No, I’m not really worried about anything. It’s just... something is a bit weird today.” Dad smiled wryly.

”Something weird? What is it? I’m off for another few days, so I can help you, Dad.”

The fisherman pointed toward the sea while saying, ”Normally, you guys are patrolling around the coast, right?”

”Of course. It’s our duty. We sail around the coast and kill every demon we can find so that you can get some fish. After all, not all fish are demons.”

”That’s the problem. For some reason, your dad was able to catch three times worth of fish today, and it’s done in only three hours.” The dad scratched the back of his head.

”Shouldn’t that be a good thing? It’s good to have a lucky day once in a while. You can get some rest for the next few days, Dad.”

”No, Son. I have been catching fish to make a living for over forty years. Yet, this is the first time I’ve encountered such a thing. Do you know anything about it? You are working with the soldiers, right? I’m afraid that something is weird with the sea.”

”Is that so? Aren’t you just lucky today?”

”Lucky is lucky, son. I have had several lucky encounters. I was lucky to meet your mom, I was lucky to survive a demon attack three years ago, but today’s luck was just too good to be true. That’s my instinct as a fisherman.”

”Well, I can ask about it once I return to work, Dad. For now, let’s just consider ourselves lucky, alright?”

”Alright, alright. Let’s have lunch, Son.”

”Yes, Dad.”

The father and son turned around, about to return to their home, before a person suddenly hit them from behind.

”Run!”

”Wha-?” The dad fell to the ground, while the son shouted, ”What the hell are you doing? Why are you bumping into my father?”

The guy who hit them simply got back on his feet and ran as quickly as possible. ”Run. I don’t want to die!”

”What? You are insane. Hey!” The son wanted to rebuke him, but the other guy had already run so far. The son scratched the back of his head. ”Such bad luck. Sorry, Dad. I will catch him and make him apologize to you later.”

But there was no response from his father. ”Dad?... Dad?”

The son thought something had happened to his father and tried to check his body, but the only thing he saw was his father’s dumbfounded expression.

”Dad? What are you look—” The son followed his father’s gaze, finding something that he never expected.

A massive wave rose so high that it surpassed 30 meters. It was tall and shocking, but what was even more terrifying was that, due to the sunlight that shone upon this wave, they could see numerous shadows within the wave.

The son’s face turned pale right after. ”Tsunami... Run! Dad!”

The son regained his composure quickly and tried to wake his dad up and forcefully dragged his hand.

However, it was too late.

The fisherman simply muttered, ”I have seen a lot of waves or even tsunamis a couple of times. But what is this... Is the world ending?”

”Dad!” The son panicked, but they couldn’t do anything.

Numerous people ran away from the coast, but it was useless. The huge wave struck the coastline, sweeping everything in its path.

Buildings were destroyed and dragged by its massive force. The people were swallowed and disappeared into the abyss.

There was nothing left behind other than rubble.

This wave wasn’t just carrying so much water onto the land. It was also carrying demons.

Some people, who were on higher land or farther from the coast, got swept away as well.

”Help!” A person 20 km away from the coast managed to survive the first impact and gasp for air by surfacing as his body was getting dragged away by the wave.

However, he couldn’t say another word because a huge pair of jaws emerged from the water suddenly, swallowing him whole.

...

In another place, another person let out a long sigh of relief. ”We are fortunate that we managed to get away from this wave. I guess we have to find a way to survive until the country sends us help.”

”Water is terrifying.” The guy next to her was trembling uncontrollably, realizing the terror that the water could possess. ”You should get away from the water. It’s terrifying.”

”What? We are safe for now. Don’t worry about it..” The girl smiled wryly. Even though she was scared as well, she believed they would survive.

However, their conversation couldn’t continue any longer.

Suddenly, a huge fish leaped from the water and swallowed the guy in one go before flapping its body to propel itself back into the water.

When the girl witnessed it, her face turned extremely pale. ”Ky—”

Before she could swim, tentacles emerged from the water. One tentacle grasped her neck, preventing her from letting out a sound and even getting some air. A few other tentacles wrapped around her body as they dragged her into the water.

It was an unprecedented disaster. The wave reached as far as 100 km into the land and had no sign of retreating. It swept through many cities and killed countless people.

Even those who managed to survive in one way or another weren’t spared by the demons that lurked within the water.

This was the first time that the water had invaded the land, turning it into another sea. And the demons began controlling this new piece of territory.

Yet, the disaster had yet to end. Instead, it was the other way around. This disaster was just the beginning.

Some demons, who could also live on the land, came to the surface and invaded the Zaecuria Kingdom.

Those who remained started killing all the survivors in the submerged area.
