Chapter 1567: Moon Goddess Asking for A Discussion?

As Rose requested, Noel went around his territory to inspect the defenses personally. If the people knew that the inspection was satisfactory even to their lord, they would feel much more assured.

They would believe that even if the demons came, they could withstand their attack.

This was Rose’s original intention, and Noel raised their morale even further by doing a lot of other things.

With his speed as a spirit king, he could travel basically to every corner of his territory in less than twenty minutes.

Including the inspection, he managed to get one city done in one and a half hours for one city. In the end, he finished the inspection within two days.

Then he moved to the three cities she specifically requested. Tristan’s city could be said to be the most fortified.

As the Rune Meister, Tristan actually filled the city with numerous runes. They even dug more trenches and filled them with runes that could be activated in secret.

With the addition of Tristan’s advanced rune card or the Executioner Rune embedded on his wall, Noel felt a bit bad for the demons.

At this rate, even an ancient demon would probably die when it dared to attack Tristan’s city. No, Noel predicted this city could withstand two ancient demons if necessary. If they had an unlimited amount of demon crystals, there would be no telling how many demons would die here.

The second city was Howard’s city. Howard was the epitome of a military man. Everything he had done was by the book.

All the fortifications made it look stable. However, unlike Tristan, he didn’t know whether this city could withstand an ancient demon.

While the fortification against an ancient demon was necessary, the cost was too much. There were things that couldn’t be bought with Noel’s endless money.

However, it looked like Howard should have no problem withstanding an ancient demon for a few hours. During that time, he could have sent out reinforcements to handle it.

Last but not least, Incetta’s city. Because he was the one dispatching the people to take care of this city, it was fortified by the same thing as his city.

Incetta was one of his greatest warriors, so the treatment should be amazing. In addition, her territory was directly linked to the border of the Greenwood Kingdom. It could be said that she would withstand the onslaught from both sides.

That was why he had prepared a lot of things.

Incetta’s territory stretched more than Tristan’s and Howard’s. He purposely made it this way so that Incetta could get a river.

In fact, it was one of her first requests. He created a channel to her city from the river, allowing her to utilize her greatest strength here.

Nevertheless, he was quite satisfied with all the progress. Although it would still take some time for them to finish, he believed they would be able to fulfill their role without a problem.

After signing some documents for the alliance treaty that allowed his airships to bypass their cities, Noel finally handled the last matter on Rose’s request.

Besides, he had to ask Paladin Aurelia, the one who handled the matter of the Moon Temple in his territory, to deliver a letter to Saintess Layla.

He was already a grand duke. No matter how close they were, he should follow the procedure if he could do it.

Most of the time, it was for surprises or the situation forced him to skip all the procedures, but this was not one of them.

Since he had used three days to take care of all the matters in his territory, Noel finally visited the Moon Temple’s headquarters.

Because it was an official visit, they welcomed him warmly.

While walking across the hallway, Saintess Layla said, ”Thanks to you, the Moon Temple has become extremely busy, Grand Duke.”

”Hahaha.” Noel chuckled. ”Isn’t that good? If the good people are busy doing good things, we should rejoice.”

”That’s why I’m grateful to you.” Saintess Layla smiled. ”Thanks to your vehicles, we can reach far and wide. Besides, with your airship, we can reach a place we would have had a hard time reaching before.

”You should have known about the Moon Temple’s reputation before, right?”

”Yeah. The Temple of Sadness. You are going to an area that has been engulfed by a disaster to help them.” Noel nodded. This was why he respected them a lot.

”Well, most of the time, we were able to help a lot of people, but a lot more had perished. That’s why we are known as the Temple of Sadness. We simply couldn’t help those people.

”Thanks to your rune technology, we could reach that position faster and even bring more goods.

”We managed to save more people, and the donations were pouring in to help even more people.

”Do you know what we are called recently?”

”Sorry, I don’t pay much attention to matters outside the kingdom.” Noel shook his head.

”How could I trouble you that much?” Saintess Layla covered her mouth while chuckling. ”The people started calling us the Temple of Happiness. It is the exact opposite of what we were in the past.

”We arrived faster than anyone else and helped them. That was why the Moon Temple had been growing rapidly thanks to your help. Maybe I should ask for more trucks and airships from you.” Layla smirked.

”I don’t mind giving you more. Besides, it will be good to grow the Moon Temple in the Muivell Kingdom as well.” Noel nodded.

”Is that the reason you came here?”

”Yes.” Noel nodded. ”The war against the demons is approaching. It will be a war on a scale that no humans have ever witnessed before. Just thinking about it gives me chills.”

”The demon kings...” Layla’s expression turned grim.

”Yes.”

”Don’t worry. Our Moon Temple would like to support you in this matter. We have agreed to station 5 paladins in the Greenwood Kingdom, while I personally position myself in your city.”

”Thank you. Maybe I should donate again.” Noel grinned.

”When you say it like this, doesn’t it sound like a bribe instead of a donation?”

”Really? I guess I can’t donate half a million gold coins, two airships, and 10 trucks...” Noel looked down as if he had been wronged.

”That is definitely a donation. On behalf of the Moon Temple, I can only thank the Grand Duke for his generous donation. I don’t even know who mentioned a bribe earlier. Blame that Layla. At this rate, why not become a sponsor for our Moon Temple?” Layla immediately corrected herself.

Noel just rolled his eyes. But Layla seemed to have a surprise for him.

”Although the donation is good, there is something I’d like to tell you... Not me, exactly. The Moon Goddess would like to have a chat with you.”
