Chapter 1555: Verdict

The grand judges fell silent. There was a lot of proof that showed Laufey was indeed not guilty.

After listening to his testimony, it looked like the Ardagan family had been colluding with the king before he got taken over.

They had heard how Luke Ardagan kept suppressing Duke Raymond, but what if everything was just a scheme? What if when Luke Ardagan did it, he created an image that he was fighting against Duke Raymond to gain the trust of the third prince?

The third prince, who had been in contact with the demon, would definitely love the Ardagan family.

The Ardagan family could be said to be the target of the demons as well as the Supreme Devil Organization. By keeping them close, the third prince could do anything he wanted with them.

Unbeknownst to him, the Ardagan family would fall because of him. His plan had succeeded. The Ardagan family had been executed, leaving only Noel Ardagan behind.

It looked like the Ardagan family had been doing everything they could to strike at the organization. Even their successor, Noel Ardagan, did it and ultimately succeeded in destroying the organization.

It could be said that King Oliver wanted to fix the problem that King Isaac had made by using the Ardagan family. Unfortunately, he got taken over along the way, which caused the entire mess.

And this time, Wendy managed to fix King Oliver’s mess. Unlike King Oliver, Wendy was able to succeed without getting taken over.

The demon king had been expelled from this kingdom. While the threat of the demons hadn’t disappeared, there was no need to worry about another brainwashing incident.

What they really needed this time was a situation where they could recover.

All the grand judges could see the fact that the Ardagan family would be pushing for their innocence, especially Grand Duke Noel Ardagan.

Besides, giving the ’not guilty’ verdict meant having a good relationship with the grand duke. Noel was currently the strongest and the wealthiest person in the kingdom.

With all his technology, the kingdom could definitely recover, and it wouldn’t be slow either.

In addition, the proof had been presented.

All the grand judges thought about granting the verdict for Laufey Ardagan, but there were still a few things that hadn’t been made clear for the Ardagan family.

”Duke Lorelei.” The judge raised a question. ”We have seen the proof about Laufey Ardagan, but that is only for Laufey Ardagan, not the Ardagan family. You have only told the story of the Ardagan family, not shown any proof about them.”

”If you are worried about that...” Duke Lorelei had expected this request. He took out a letter with a broken royal seal attached to it.

”The first letter came from the former Chief of Arbiter, Marquis Lenenan, whose position was inherited by me. It is a request to strike at the Supreme Devil Organization.”

”Yes. I can see that.” The judge nodded. ”However, this letter is addressed to the Fleeting Arbiter, Kevin Stargaze.”

”Which is why we were able to obtain this piece of evidence from the Ardagan family’s mansion.”

”!!!” The judge raised his eyebrows. ”Do you mean the former mansion?”

”Yes.” Duke Lorelei nodded. ”Marquis Stargaze and Count Ardagan were close friends, who let their children marry each other. It is not weird to see such a letter in the Ardagan family.

”In addition, the second letter also came from the Ardagan family. It was a target letter to bewitch Count Callahan Ardagan, Luke Ardagan’s father.

”Besides, the official reason for the execution is not because the Ardagan family is a traitor. They have never been traitors. Luke Ardagan and Leysha Ezenholm were executed because of their allegiance to the third prince, not the organization or the demons.

”So, there is basically no reason why we should give evidence about something they have never committed.”

The judges also agreed in that area. However, the judge noticed something in the letter. It was a part that he was skeptical about.

”Wait a minute, Duke Lorelei. Is everything written in this letter true?”

”Yes.”

”In this letter, there is an instruction to do anything necessary. Is this also evidence for Laufey Ardagan?”

”Yes and no.” Duke Lorelei paused for a moment. ”Yes, part of it is indeed for Laufey Ardagan. However, the Ardagan family has also done their part to strike them.”

”Done their part? Such as?”

”Your Honor. Please watch what you say. The Ardagan family has never done anything illegal. They have even helped a lot of people with their wealth, much more than other noble families.

”However, I understand your worry. While I believe they didn’t do such a thing, I am also unaware of what method they used. We haven’t found any clues regarding it, but we have found the clues about them using an unknown method.”

The grand judges fell silent for a moment. All of them were exchanging glances while pondering all the evidence they had seen so far.

Kevin Stargaze, who had been watching the entire hearing, couldn’t help but close his eyes after seeing a letter from Anna.

’Father. Noel’d like to clear his family’s name, including his parents’. We are not sure whether it is enough or not, but he wants to clear all three names. Can you help us in doing it?

’We all know that Father-in-law and Mother-in-law are still alive. We want them to be able to live together without hiding anymore.’

Kevin couldn’t help but smile, muttering inwardly, ’To think that this is the method you choose. Noel Ardagan... It looks like your wish is about to be granted. By fabricating a few pieces of evidence and mixing some lies with the truth, we can create an illusion of the truth.

’And that truth will be able to clear their names. Unknown method? If the verdict is not guilty and we reveal the method is actually the fake execution, there might be some backlash, but it won’t harm the Ardagan family.

’What he really needs now is to portray himself as the hero of humanity, which means he has to defeat the demon kings. With this...’

Kevin could imagine the scene where the two families could finally reunite.

The grand judge announced while waving the hammer. ”In the case of Laufey Ardagan on the charge of murder, we find him not guilty.”

”In the case of Laufey Ardagan on the charge of treason, we find him not guilty.”

”In the case of Luke Ardagan on the charge of treason, we find him not guilty.”

”In the case of Leysha Ezenholm on the charge of treason, we find him not guilty.”

”In the case of the Ardagan family on the charge of treason, we find them not guilty.”
