Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 698: Chapter 367: Eevee’s Evolution Goal! Snorlax’s Exclusive Pokeblock is Born!

”Indeed!” Watching this scene, Naoki knew he hadn’t made a mistake.

He reached out to pat the heads of the few Dragonair and said, ”Alright, you continue playing, I have work to do!”

The Dragonair surrounded him, and excitedly expressed that they wanted to help out, just like the Dragonite who assisted Naoki!

”Woo!”

Seeing the eager faces of the Dragonair, Naoki fell silent.

He turned to glance at the baskets of Berry next to him.

Dragonair didn’t have hands and wouldn’t be able to help him carry the Berries, right?

Though they could hold Berries in their mouths, that would be too inconvenient.

As he hesitated, Koraidon and Cyclizar had already moved the Berries, leaving only the last basket.

Watching Koraidon come over to pick up the last basket of Berries, Naoki could only say to the Dragonair:

”I feel your enthusiasm, but you’re still too young now. Wait until you become big dragons to help out!”

”Woo...”

The Dragonair immediately showed a look of disappointment.

Becoming big dragons... does that mean evolving into Dragonite?

That’s right! Once they evolve into Dragonite, they can help Naoki, just like the Dragonite!

The Dragonair soon regained their vigor, full of determination.

It’s decided!

They will work hard to become stronger to help Naoki!

Naoki didn’t yet know the Dragonair’s plan, but seeing them cheer up, he smiled and said:

”You go ahead and play, I need to get these Berries into the house.”

Koraidon and Cyclizar had already run to the truck, Naoki got in the driver’s seat and drove the berry-laden pickup to the house.

Then, he began, along with the two Pokemon, to carry the Berries into the living room and the kitchen.

Some were kept for making Poffins and Berry Juice, while the rest were intended for his Pokeblock research.

Researching Pokeblocks is a highly complex task.

Some rare Pokeblock recipes aren’t available to the public, so Naoki had to research them himself.

Currently, the number of Pokeblock recipes he has mastered is limited.

Those for attracting Poipole, for feeding Munchlax...

But these aren’t enough.

Therefore, Naoki planned to spend today developing some new types of Pokeblocks.

After all, with the gluttonous Snorlax on the farm, there’s no worry that the Pokeblocks made will go uneaten and wasted.

First, he aimed to improve the Munchlax snacks that Yu Hui had given him.

Munchlax is Snorlax’s pre-evolution, and after evolving into Snorlax, not only does its size increase, but Munchlax’s appetite grows significantly.

This has made the previous Pokeblocks insufficient.

Recalling the Berry recipe for Munchlax snacks, Naoki picked out several Berries from the basket.

”After evolution, Snorlax’s appetite grows, the previous Pokeblocks can’t satisfy it. Hmm... to improve, it’s necessary not only to increase Berries but also to replace some special Berries.”

”Replacing Razz Berry with Rabuta Berry, compared to Razz Berry, Rabuta Berry contains more energy and heat, only then can it satisfy Snorlax’s needs.”

”And the flavoring with Rawst Berry...” Naoki thought about Snorlax’s unique taste, even Muk’s Toxic Curry could be eaten.

This Berry’s flavor is sweet, effective for humans and other Pokemon, but somewhat useless for Snorlax.

Thus, Naoki replaced the Rawst Berry with the more caloric Wiki Berry.

Additionally, the quantity of Berries must be increased...

Thinking this, Naoki started working.

While handcrafting Pokeblocks isn’t as convenient as using a Berry Blender, it offers higher operability and potential.

Peeling, mixing, heating, stirring the Berries...

Until finally, a batch of special Pokeblocks, colored black, was fresh out of the oven.

Naoki took a look and found it was a failed product with no effect.

”Did it fail?” Naoki wasn’t too surprised and began pondering where the problem might have occurred.

After a moment of contemplation, he attempted a second time.

Then a third, fourth time...

On the fifth attempt, the produced Pokeblocks didn’t turn black, but instead showed a peculiar shade of indigo.

Naoki realized the unusual nature of these Pokeblocks and eagerly checked their details.

[Snorlax Snack: Special Pokeblock designed for Snorlax, made using advanced Berry compression technology, compressing dozens of high-energy Berries into a special Pokeblock. Just one can satisfy Snorlax’s hunger, note: ordinary Pokemon are strictly prohibited from consumption!]

”Success!”

Gazing at the Pokeblocks before him, Naoki was delighted that his research direction was indeed correct!

This simplifies the feeding problem for Snorlax significantly.

Naoki quickly washed his hands and recorded the Pokeblock recipe with pen and paper.

Naoki has two notebooks.

One is the ”Cookbook,” which detailed the ingredients and methods needed for those special meals, along with their specific effects.

The other is the ”Pokeblock and Poffin Encyclopedia,” which documented the recipes and methods for Poffins and Pokeblocks, along with the special effects of Pokeblocks.

Now, there was one more recipe added to this notebook.

After recording, Naoki embarked on the next research task with great enthusiasm.

This time, he wasn’t guided by any particular research direction and worked spontaneously, combining various Berries to make Pokeblocks.

Time passed by the minute as the sun rose high and then sank into the distant horizon.

After a day of research and hard work, although he couldn’t match the prowess of skilled Breeders, Naoki did manage to figure out some basic Pokeblock recipes through his own exploration.

For example:

[Grass Pokeblock: Pokeblock to attract Grass Type Pokemon. Placed outdoors, it is guaranteed to attract Grass Type Pokemon.]

[Bug Snacks: Pokeblock to attract Bug Type Pokemon. It is highly favored by Bug Type Pokemon, placed outdoors it is sure to attract Bug Type Pokemon.]

...

”Barely usable.” Looking at these Pokeblocks, Naoki felt a bit regretful as they didn’t possess any magical effects or groundbreaking features.

After a brief thought, he shared them with Butterfree, Gogoat, Arboliva, and Combee, these Bug Type and Grass Type Pokemon.

The result was unanimous praise from everyone.

Naoki was very pleased, at least it showed that his day’s work hadn’t gone to waste.

After nightfall, Naoki planned to go to bed early after dinner.

But before he could go to bed, he was stopped by several Dragon Type Pokemon from the pasture.

Naoki: ”...”

Oh well.

”Follow me!” Naoki said.

Calyrex was watching TV in the living room, so Naoki took a few Pokemon outside and sat down by the river where fireflies were dancing.

Koraidon, Cyclizar, and Dragonite looked over expectantly.

Naoki had promised to tell them stories of heroic Dragon-type Pokemon defeating evil and saving the world.

Stories about Dragon Type Pokemon...

Naoki didn’t know where to start for a moment.

After all, in the Galar Region, there really is a fairy tale about Sylveon defeating Dragon-type Pokemon.

After a moment’s thought, Naoki suddenly had a great idea.

Got it! Since the Dragonite want to listen, he’d tell them the tale of Rayquaza stopping the war between Groudon and Kyogre and saving the world!

After all, Rayquaza is also a Dragon Type Pokemon.

With this in mind, Naoki began speaking slowly:

”A long, long time ago...”
