Not Being a Trainer This Time

Early the next morning, the energy consumed by Calyrex to accelerate the growth of the World Tree had completely recovered.

He found Naoki, who was pruning the garden, and said to him, ”My power has been restored; we can continue to cultivate the World Tree.”

”Oh?” Naoki was surprised, ”So fast?”

He remembered that it seemed like less than a month had passed since the last acceleration.

Calyrex nodded slightly, ”That’s because I have an ever-growing number of followers on this land, and the Power of Faith they provide is becoming more and more vast.”

Saying this, Calyrex turned around, gazing towards the back mountain.

”I can sense that the shrine dedicated to me is also providing me with a continuous flow of faith... This situation has already far exceeded my expectations, and it truly amazes me!”

Upon hearing these words, Naoki immediately understood.

Unbeknownst to him, the shrine on the hill had already become a landmark for Porto Marinada Town.

Almost every day, groups of Trainers passing by would come to visit the shrine, to learn about the deeds of Calyrex.

Is this situation like those popular check-in spots?

After all, anything related to the Legendary Pokemon tends to pique the curiosity of Trainers.

”Then let’s begin!”

When it came to cultivating the World Tree, Naoki was also full of anticipation.

He put down the gardening scissors in his hand, called a group of Pokemon from the pasture, and led them beside the World Tree to watch Calyrex cultivate it.

This process was familiar to every Pokemon in the pasture.

Psychic energy surged around Calyrex, and he floated into the air, facing the World Tree as energy surged all over his body.

Then, Calyrex lifted his arms and activated his ability.

In the next second, an unprecedented surge of energy poured out like a tide, all infused into the World Tree.

Soon after, every part of the World Tree—trunk, branches, leaves—began to emit a faint green light.

In this light, the trunk of the World Tree began to rise upward at a speed visible to the naked eye.

”Rumble!”

The ground beneath shook in response, and a strange humming sound resonated from all directions.

Not only the parts above ground, but even the roots deeply buried in the soil were continuously growing!

Naoki watched the World Tree in front of him, observing its changes.

[World Tree (Sapling Stage): A seed sapling that has absorbed a massive amount of the Power of Grass, which mutated during its growth due to Gogoat, brewing a majestic Life Force, finally breaking through the earth. It is said it can support an entire world, nurturing all things with Natural Energy, still requires 84,054 years to fully grow.]

[83,612 years.]

[82,560 years.]

[...]

[80,010 years.]

The number finally settled at 80,010.

As Calyrex’s energy was completely expended, the light enveloping the World Tree completely disappeared as well.

The World Tree’s appearance before Naoki and many Pokemon had once again changed.

More robust, more luxuriant, more magnificent, more lively...

No, these words are already inadequate to describe it.

Because the height of this World Tree already exceeds thirty meters!

Its scale is already comparable to that of the great tree on the Dyna Tree Hill in the northern part of the Crown Tundra in the Galar Region!

All the surrounding Pokemon were also amazed by the appearance of the World Tree.

A few flying Pokemon looked at this scene incredulously, flew around the World Tree, dived into the dense foliage, climbed onto the thick branches, and observed this giant tree from top to bottom.

Naoki was not too surprised because he had foreseen it.

He looked at the shorter growth period of the World Tree this time and murmured:

”The growth period shortened by four thousand years at once, it seems all that additional faith didn’t go to waste, directly doubling Calyrex’s power...”

Naoki remembered that originally, Calyrex could only shorten the World Tree’s growth time by two thousand years at a time.

But now, with a reduction of four thousand years at once, at this speed, the World Tree could fully grow in less than two years.

One-fifth of the hundred thousand years of growth time have already passed, and there’s still a path of eighty thousand years to go.

In the past, Naoki couldn’t even imagine.

But a problem followed closely.

The World Tree is so large, a few more boosts would crowd the pasture.

If he forces maturation without considering the surrounding environment, then the pasture he and the Pokemon painstakingly built will be destroyed to make way for the World Tree’s expansion.

Naoki fell into contemplation.

He turned and looked at the somewhat weakened Calyrex, who had consumed a large amount of energy, and asked:

”By the way, Calyrex, I remember you mentioned before that in the future you saw, the World Tree leaves the ground, flies to the sky, and finally floats in the air?”

Calyrex nodded slightly, ”Indeed, the future I envisioned looked just like that.”

”That’s a tricky one...” Naoki felt a headache.

Could it be that in the future, he installed some black technology in the World Tree, making it technologically ascend?

”No, that’s impossible, I have no such technology.” Naoki had a very clear self-awareness.

Then, could it be Professor Sada and Professor Turo, who created the Time Machine?

This idea seemed unlikely too, because as far as Naoki knew, these two professors’ research did not involve anti-gravity systems.

Then, there’s only one possibility left.

Relying on the power of Pokemon!

And the Pokemon capable of achieving this, Giratina immediately came to Naoki’s mind.

Three minutes later, above the Reversed World, Flower Sky Island.

Lying among the flowers, smelling their fragrance, basking in the sun, occasionally eating a few berries, Giratina looked at the suddenly arrived Naoki, feeling quite puzzled.

”Why did you suddenly come here today?” Its temperament had become carefree due to its long retirement life.

Naoki stared at Giratina in front of him, sizing up its big head.

Giratina: ”?”

With a furious expression and a gruff voice, it shouted out loud, ”What are you doing?!”

Naoki wiped the saliva sprayed from Giratina off his face, ”Great, this is the Giratina I know.”

Giratina instantly had black lines all over its face.

Naoki then started to discuss business, ”By the way, Giratina, is it possible for you to make something fly? For instance, a stone in the real world, could you use your Reversing Power to make it defy gravity and soar into the sky...”

”Just that?” Giratina’s gaze was disdainful, thinking it was something important.

Naoki: ”...”

Seeing this, Naoki’s mind raced with thoughts; could it be that making the World Tree levitate was really Giratina’s doing?

But in the next second, Giratina showed regret, ”I cannot help you.”

Naoki was dumbfounded, ”Why not?”

”Because I cannot interfere with the world on the opposite side, which was the warning issued when that existence banished me to this world,” Giratina’s tone was somber, but Naoki could hear the underlying anger and unwillingness.

It was Arceus...

Naoki pondered for a moment, then sincerely asked, ”Then why did you cooperate with Volo to do something like that centuries ago?”

Giratina revealed a malicious smile, ”At that time, I didn’t interfere with the world over there at all, I only used my power to drive Dialga and Palkia into a frenzy.”

Naoki instantly understood.

Giratina was exacting revenge, revenge against the real world and Arceus.

Secretly influencing the Space-Time Gods, causing them to riot.

The consequence of this incident was the incredible instability of space-time in the Hisuin Region, generating terrifying temporal rifts, resulting in the destruction of the Hisuin Region.
