Not Being a Trainer This Time

At this moment, Flutter Mane suddenly heard the voice of Pawmot calling it.

It looked in that direction, then turned back to signal Misdreavus to follow.

Misdreavus dared not run, as it could sense that this big creature in front of it was a very terrifying presence. If it tried to escape, it might be caught immediately.

Under such circumstances, it was better not to provoke it.

So, when Pawmot led Flutter Mane back in front of Naoki, Naoki saw a timid Misdreavus following behind Flutter Mane.

Naoki was taken aback, ”It is?”

Flutter Mane: ”Dream.”

Professor Oak, observing the two Pokemon’s actions, then said with interest:

”This... this Pokemon named Flutter Mane seems to be taking care of this Misdreavus as if it were its offspring.”

Naoki was dumbfounded, looking incredulously at the calm Flutter Mane with a small fang revealed: ”Offspring?”

Impossible, right? To his knowledge, such Paradox Pokemon as Flutter Mane cannot lay eggs.

But looking at Flutter Mane, it seemed to know about the ”offspring” matter?

In that instant, a speculation burst into Naoki’s mind.

Could it be that Paradox Pokemon are not conjured creatures, nor fantasy entities created by Terapagos according to human wishes?

Each Paradox Pokemon might have been a real creature, much like the dinosaurs of the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods.

Just that they all went extinct for some reason, with the remaining Paradox Species gradually evolving into their modern form.

Or there’s another possibility.

Could these Paradox Species Pokemon not belong to this world at all?

Is there a chance that the Time Machine summoned these Paradox Species from another dimension, other time and space?

And each Paradox Species has its unique egg group, so they can’t breed in the game.

Otherwise, the unbreeding Paradox Pokemon would just become extinct themselves.

Professor Oak’s gaze was fixed intently on Flutter Mane, murmuring: ”Flutter Mane... is this a special form of Misdreavus in the Paldea Region? Fascinating, it seems to be twice the size of a regular Misdreavus.”

Naoki also found it difficult to answer this question.

He thought for a moment, then took out a piece of Translation Nuts Cake from his bag and ate it before asking: ”Flutter Mane, what’s up with this Misdreavus?”

Flutter Mane couldn’t quite coherently convey its meaning: ”Dream.” (Offspring, alone, crying, I help it.)

Naoki looked again at the Misdreavus, which wanted nothing more than to hide far away, and heard it say miserably: ”Dream!” (I wasn’t crying! I was pr-playing tricks, and this guy came over and caught me!)

Naoki: ”...”

He understood, showing a speechless expression, and explained to Flutter Mane:

”It isn’t an offspring, even though you look alike, you’re not the same kind of Pokemon.”

Flutter Mane showed a puzzled expression: ”Dream?” (Not, offspring?)

Naoki nodded: ”It’s called Misdreavus, and it naturally looks like this.”

Saying this, Naoki apologized to the little Misdreavus on behalf of Flutter Mane:

”I’m very sorry, it seems there’s been a misunderstanding between you and Flutter Mane. It meant no harm, it simply mistook you for a newly born baby and wanted to help you, which is why it acted that way.”

Misdreavus, looking quite irritated, saw that this human was reasonable, and its courage gradually grew.

”Dream!” (I’m not a baby! But since you didn’t mean it, I’ll forgive you!)

After speaking, Misdreavus darted away swiftly.

Flutter Mane didn’t stop it, just looked at its retreating figure in confusion, seemingly unable to fully comprehend Naoki’s earlier words.

Meanwhile, Lance and Professor Oak, who had witnessed the entire process, were astonished.

Professor Oak: ”Were you just talking to the Pokemon?”

Naoki nodded calmly: ”This is my ability.”

Ability...

Professor Oak immediately thought of the Power of Viridian in the Kanto Region.

It’s said that some people born in Viridian City receive the blessing of Viridian Forest.

These individuals have the ability to perceive Pokemon intentions and heal Pokemon injuries.

Lance, on the other hand, thought of the legendary Dragon Power; within the Dragon Taming Clan exists an ancient legend that those who awaken the Dragon Power would naturally be Dragon Envoys.

This ability greatly enhances the affinity with Dragon Type Pokemon, allowing them to be better controlled.
