Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 637: Chapter 345: Banquet of Elites

Huh? Poipole?

Isn’t that an Ultra Beast from the Alola Region?

How come there’s a Pokeblock with this kind of effect?

Looking at the oddly colored Pokeblock in front of him, Naoki was a bit surprised.

Just putting it out in the wild has a certain chance of attracting a Pokemon like Poipole...

This effect reminded Naoki of the way players capture Pokemon in the Safari Zone in the game.

In the Safari Zone, Pokemon battles are not allowed, so the conventional methods of capture simply won’t work there.

To catch a Pokemon, Trainers can only use Pokeblocks bought at the entrance to lure those wild Pokemon and then capture them.

However, Pokeblocks specific to certain Pokemon like this one are still very rare.

Naoki pinched the Pokeblock in his hand and looked at the taster Koraidon, asking, ”Wanna give it a try?”

Koraidon shook his head vigorously, ”Aga-sii!”

It poked at the Poke Ball attached to Naoki’s waist, looking troubled, indicating that it really couldn’t eat anymore, and suggested that Naoki could let other Pokemon try instead.

”True.” Naoki nodded, then took off Cyclizar’s Poke Ball from his waist.

Along with a flash of white light, Cyclizar’s figure appeared in the room.

”Gao~” Cyclizar blinked, looking all innocent.

Naoki picked up a Pokeblock and tentatively asked, ”Would you like to help me taste this Pokeblock, Cyclizar?”

Smelling that Pokeblock, Cyclizar immediately showed a serious expression.

It instinctively wanted to refuse, but seeing Naoki’s expression seemed to really need its Help.

So, Cyclizar gathered its courage, held its breath, took a Pokeblock with its claw, and put it in its mouth.

After chewing it a few times, Cyclizar suddenly fell to the ground, fainted by the awful taste.

Naoki: ”...”

Koraidon had a look of relief on its face.

”Aga-sii...” Luckily, it didn’t eat it.

Naoki couldn’t help but fall into deep thought; these Pokeblocks are all made from Berries, so theoretically speaking, they shouldn’t be this awful?

After thinking for a moment, he pinched his nose and tried eating a Pokeblock himself like trying durian for the first time.

Bitter, sour, astringent—a taste indescribably rushed straight to his brain.

The next second, Naoki felt as if his head started steaming and his stomach began churning wildly.

He turned around and buried his face in the trash bin—”Ugh!”

When Yu Hui came in after finishing her work, she immediately saw Naoki hugging the trash bin, vomiting like crazy.

Seeing this scene, she immediately knew what was going on.

Yu Hui burst into laughter, ”Looks like you’ve made some awful Pokeblocks!”

Naoki, with a pale face, looked up, ”Miss Yu Hui...”

”Don’t worry, this is a journey every Pokemon Breeder must go through.” Yu Hui said with a smile.

She stepped forward to check Naoki’s Pokeblock-making setup, then said,” It looks like you’ve grasped the basic method of making Pokeblocks, so next, I should teach you more advanced content.”

Naoki and Cyclizar sat side by side, drinking a bottle of sugar water to ease the discomfort in their stomachs.

Hearing this, he was a bit surprised, ”More advanced content?”

Yu Hui nodded, ”Only beginner Breeders use machines to make Pokeblocks, and some top Breeders often handcraft Pokeblocks, taking their time to refine them.”

”Compared to the former, the latter is more difficult, but correspondingly, Pokeblocks meticulously crafted by Breeders tend to have better quality. Here, I’ve written down the crafting process for you to take a look at.”

Yu Hui handed over a piece of paper filled with words.

Naoki reached out to take it, seeing the whole process of handcrafting Pokeblocks written on it.

Baking, melting, simmering, mixing, compressing, solidifying...

Each step was very complex and consumed several times the duration a machine would.

Yu Hui: ”Machines can only make limited types of Pokeblocks because their capacity is fixed and can only mix a maximum amount equivalent to five Berries.”

”However, with handcrafting, it’s not necessarily like that. For example, the famous Gluttony Pokeblock, that special Pokeblock was made through handcrafting.”

”By fusing the essence of dozens of Berries, it’s finally compressed into a small Pokeblock, which can feed a gluttonous Pokemon like Snorlax with just one.”

Hearing this, Naoki immediately understood.

”So, certain specific Pokeblocks can only be made by hand?” he asked.

”That’s right,” Yu Hui nodded, ”Machines are machines, after all, even large-scale Berry processors can’t compare to humans, because cold machines can’t create Pokeblocks with warmth and emotion.”

Naoki nodded thoughtfully.

Previously, he thought if the process of making Pokeblocks was so simple, he could just buy a machine and be done with it.

But now, it seemed that just that wasn’t enough.

”Here you go!” Yu Hui handed over another recipe: ”This is a basic Gluttony Pokeblock recipe. The Pokeblocks made from it can fill up the stomach of a Pokemon like Munchlax with just one. Why don’t you try making it?”

Naoki reached out to take it.

[Basic Gluttony Pokeblock Recipe: Pecha Berry x2, Oran Berry x1, Bluk Berry x1, Tamato Berry x2, 1/3 of a Nanab Berry, Effect: Provides basic nutrition to Pokemon and can fill up a Pokemon’s stomach.]
