Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 538: Chapter 308: Gogoat vs. Champion! (4000)_2

The ”Dragon Arrow” sliced through the Razor Leaf, breaking through its defense, and continued to dive down, crashing towards Gogoat.

The remaining Razor Leaves simultaneously aimed at Dragapult diving from above.

Leon’s eyes were tightly following Dragapult’s figure; this is the right distance!

He seized the moment and shouted, ”Flamethrower!”

”Dreee-gon!”

The duo of Leon and Dragapult had been partners for years, having developed excellent coordination.

As soon as Leon gave the command, Dragapult immediately reacted.

It opened its mouth wide, gathering blazing flames within, which then turned into a vast sea of fire, engulfing the Razor Leaves.

Instantly, a downpour of fire started from the sky.

Dragapult accelerated its diving speed, bursting through the fiery rain, with scorching flames surging forth to strike Gogoat together with the previously launched Dragon Arrow.

The flames instantly engulfed Gogoat.

Gogoat gritted its teeth in pain, enduring, unable to do anything else.

Leon watched the scene anxiously, counting seconds in his mind.

”Three seconds.”

”Two seconds.”

”Now! Rapid Retreat!”

”Dreee-gon!”

The Flamethrower stopped, and Dragapult was suddenly shrouded in a layer of pale green glow, swiftly crashing into Gogoat.

”One second!”

After a series of type advantages, Gogoat finally lost its ability to fight and collapsed on the ground.

Dragapult, exhausted and panting, transformed into a white light and returned safely to Leon after using Rapid Retreat to attack.

However, in the next moment, a more powerful surge of Grass Energy flowed into the fallen Gogoat.

The Gogoat, which had fallen unconscious a moment ago from losing its ability to fight, slowly opened its eyes.

Witnessing this scene, both Leon and Dragapult widened their eyes, nearly dropping their jaws in shock.

What on earth is this?!

Naoki, seeing this, was also a bit surprised. He glanced at the World Tree not far away, noticing the shimmering green light emanating from its leaves, immediately understanding the situation.

He called back the Gogoat and said to Leon, ”It’s your win.”

Truly worthy of a Champion! To come up with a strategy in such a short time!

Naoki felt genuine admiration, but he had also learned a lot from the battle, and such an occurrence wouldn’t happen again!

”What is going on here?” Leon was still in shock.

Naoki could only helplessly explain, ”Gogoat’s Grassy Terrain is special; it lasts a long time, allowing Gogoat to harness the Grass Energy of the area to quickly restore its strength.”

Leon understood instantly, with a surprised flash in his eyes: ”This Gogoat’s affinity and control over energy is remarkable!”

”Perhaps it’s favored by nature!” Naoki said with a smile, ”We can talk more after the battle ends, but for now, let’s continue!”

Leon nodded, choosing not to switch Pokemon, keeping Dragapult in play.

Meanwhile, Naoki switched to a second Gogoat.

With a whistle blown by his sister Indeedee, the battle officially resumed.

”Take to the sky!” Leon wanted to use the previous tactic again.

Dragapult immediately soared high into the sky.

”This time, I won’t let you succeed!” Naoki looked skyward, ”Gogoat, Energy Ball!”

”Maaa!”

With the command given, Gogoat immediately locked its gaze on the opponent above, conjuring a massive green Energy Ball in front of it, launching it towards Dragapult.

The Energy Ball flew at incredible speed, closely pursuing Dragapult.

”Already thought of a counter-strategy?” Leon felt extremely excited, glad he came!

Still, they had more than just this strength!

”Dragapult, dodge!” Leon commanded; the Energy Ball traveled in a straight line without any tracking function, so as long as Dragapult altered its path, it could easily evade.

Everything proceeded as Leon predicted, and the Energy Ball did not hit.

Seeing this, Naoki persisted, ”Once more!”

Gogoat launched another Energy Ball.

”Again!” Naoki directed.

So, a third Energy Ball followed closely, chasing after Dragapult.

Then came the fourth, fifth, sixth...

Watching the Energy Balls spread across the sky like a cascade, Leon was stunned and then widened his eyes.

Consecutive Energy Balls? This Gogoat’s control over Grass Energy is equally impressive!

In midair, Dragapult, engaged in an intense chase with the Energy Balls, gradually slowed down due to exhaustion.

Leon realized the crisis, immediately asserting, ”Phantom Force!” Regardless, interrupting the opponent’s offensive rhythm is priority!

Observing the situation, Naoki decisively changed tactics, ”Razor Leaf!”

”Maaa!”

Gogoat unleashed its power, sending a flurry of green leaves flying in all directions.

”Be vigilant and prepare to use Solar Beam!” Naoki warned, noticing the Razor Leaves scattering across the battlefield, while a Solar Beam was primed for launch below. If Dragapult were exposed, it would face a dire predicament.

What to do?

Leon quickly thought of a strategy.

Within the battlefield, Gogoat remained poised, absorbing sunlight while vigilantly observing its surroundings.

At this moment, in the northeastern corner of the battlefield, something unusual happened with the Razor Leaves.

They fell to the ground as if they’d hit something.

”Now!” Naoki shouted.

Gogoat spotted the location and, in the next second, unleashed a powerful Solar Beam, striking the concealed Dragapult.

In an instant, Dragapult plummeted to the grass below.

”Danger! Get up and evade!” Leon yelled.

Gogoat crouched slightly, focusing its energy, conjuring a giant Grass Blade, which struck the still-down Dragapult with unstoppable force.

In this moment, much like before with Haxorus, Dragapult’s body crashed down, falling into unconsciousness.

”This is incredible! The bond between you and your Pokemon is amazing!” Leon recalled Dragapult to its Poke Ball, expressing his admiration. ”Now let me show you the bond I share with Charizard! Go, Charizard!”

A white light flashed, and a robust Charizard, fiery red as blazing flames, landed dramatically on the battlefield.

Its gaze was sharp and fierce, its posture agile, with the flame on its tail burning intensely.

All these signs showcased that Charizard was in its prime, its strength formidable.

Leon was serious.

He had sent out his ace Pokemon.

Naoki recalled the moveset of Leon’s Charizard from the games.

Moves like Fire Blast, Air Blade, Heat Wave, Hurricane, Flamethrower...

Most were Fire and Flying Type moves, and as a Grass Type, Gogoat was dominated by Charizard!

Furthermore, Charizard had a quadruple resistance to Grass, rendering Grass Type Moves mere scratches, not to mention Leon’s Charizard had the Blaze ability, increasing the power of Fire Type Moves as its health decreased.

Undoubtedly, faced with Charizard, he and Gogoat were at a significant disadvantage.

Naoki sighed helplessly.

In the face of such a formidable opponent, Gogoat did not falter, its gaze remaining determined as it looked at Charizard across the field.

Seeing this, Naoki took a deep breath, regaining his resolve.

If Gogoat hadn’t given up, then he had no reason to retreat.

Seeing both ready,

His sister Indeedee, who had waited for some time, blew her whistle once more.

”Phew—”
