Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 513: Chapter 296: The Slugma-Powered Home

Upon hearing about the television’s function, Calyrex became deeply intrigued by the square box that could emit sound and display images.

Seeing this, Naoki invited Calyrex to sit on the couch with everyone and watch TV.

Calyrex gladly accepted.

Since the spots next to Naoki were taken by Pawmot and Koraidon, Calyrex could only sit on the single-seater sofa on the other side.

But this did not affect Calyrex’s TV watching.

At this moment, a documentary called ”The Slugma-Powered Home” was playing on the television.

The film told the story of a girl named Anna returning from the big city to the countryside during her winter break to visit her grandparents.

The elderly couple lived together with a group of Pokemon.

There was the Haxorus that split firewood with its teeth, the Snom serving as a refrigerator, the Galvantula providing electricity, and the Ariados providing silk for knitting sweaters...

And Slugma lived in specially made heating pipes, providing warmth to the house and helping to light fires and cook meals.

Anna adored Slugma and wanted to become good friends with it, so she kept chasing Slugma around the house, but Slugma kept running around in the heating pipes.

Grandpa told Anna that when Slugma is happy, it would make a ”bang bang bang” sound and emit smoke from its body.

Slugma sensed Anna’s wish to be friends, so on the day she left, it made a ”bang bang” sound in the house and used Lava Plume to bid her farewell.

Although the documentary was short, the atmosphere was very warm.

The elderly couple, though not Trainers, lived together with Pokemon, and in this era, such families were not rare.

After thousands of years of development, humans and Pokemon could finally coexist peacefully and live together.

After watching the entire program, Calyrex couldn’t help but exclaim: ”Television is truly amazing!”

Naoki chuckled and nodded beside him: ”Humans have never stopped progressing. Perhaps, in the near future, humans will be able to fly in spaceships to other planets.”

Calyrex admired: ”That’s something even I can’t do!”

During the commercials, Pawmot was still enchanted by the documentary.

With dreams in its heart, it tugged at Naoki’s sleeve with its paw.

Naoki turned his head: ”What’s up?”

Pawmot: ”Pawmo!”

Calyrex helped translate simultaneously: ”It said [Slugma is such a great Pokemon!]”

Hearing this, Naoki was slightly stunned and asked in surprise: ”You really like Slugma?”

”Pawmo!” Pawmot nodded its little head.

It also wanted to build a Slugma pipeline at home and befriend the Slugma living inside!

”Is that so...” Naoki pondered carefully and thought it was not infeasible, but Slugma generally inhabited hot volcanic areas and was hard to find elsewhere.

However, there was still some way.

For instance, he could take some time to fly to Hoenn Region and look for Slugma at the famous Mt. Chimney.

After pondering a bit, Naoki said, ”I will see if I can encounter a Pokemon like Slugma later on! If I do, I will invite it to come live with us in our home, okay?”

If Slugma were here, the home’s natural gas could be replaced by Slugma, as Slugma’s high body temperature could be placed under the pot to help cook meals.

Moreover, this kind of Pokemon could also provide heating for the house.

However, the problem was that if Slugma were to come over, the home’s fireplace, ventilation ducts, and heating pipes would need to be remodeled.

Naoki was planning his future plans in his mind.

And upon hearing Naoki’s answer, Pawmot immediately let out a joyful growl: ”Pawmo!”

But right after, it thought of another question, and with little paws, it clung to his thigh, looking expectantly up at Naoki:

”Pawmo? Pawmo Pawmo!” (When will Naoki’s granddaughter visit the ranch? Just like Slugma, I want to be her good friend!)

Naoki: ”...?”

What is this? Naoki was puzzled, Pawmot, do you know what you’re asking?

He didn’t even have someone he liked now, how could a granddaughter suddenly appear?

And Pawmot had already begun imagining future life: ”Pawmo?” (Will Naoki’s granddaughter live with us?)

Influenced by Pawmot, the Alcremie beside it also started to express its opinion: ”Moomoo!” (She definitely will!)

Calyrex smiled and watched this scene, simultaneously using Telepathy to convey the Pokemon’s whispers to Naoki.

Naoki listened, feeling a little overwhelmed, swept Pawmot into his arms, and stopped its wild thoughts:

”...I don’t have a granddaughter, so there won’t be anyone suddenly visiting me from the big city, and even if there is, they probably won’t live with us.”

Pawmot was very disappointed: ”Pawmo...?” (Why?)

Based on Naoki’s understanding of this world, children move out after marriage to live with their spouses.

Just like Mayor Thomas’s son.

Previously, Naoki heard Mayor Thomas say that his son moved to Levincia City after getting married, where he worked with his wife, only bringing his wife and children back to visit Mayor Thomas during holidays.
