Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 389: Chapter 244: The King’s Promise

Just like the story in the game, Calyrex now needs the Help of others.

In the plot, once the player helps Calyrex reunite with its beloved horses, they can start to capture Calyrex.

If Naoki helps Calyrex find Spectrier and Glastrier, would Calyrex be willing to leave its realm and travel with him to the Paldea Region?

Naoki looked up, meeting Calyrex’s gaze.

”What a large crown,” Naoki couldn’t help but think again.

Then, he thought about the plot concerning Calyrex.

Reuniting with Spectrier and Glastrier is not difficult; as long as you have carrot seeds that the two horses love to eat, and let Calyrex use its power to accelerate their Growth, the two horses will be drawn in.

Additionally, it’s necessary to prepare the Reins of Unity that can unite Calyrex and the two horses, allowing It to tame them.

The Reins of Unity are not just ordinary ropes; they’re intricately woven using Radiant Flowers and the mane of Horse-type Pokemon.

Long ago, the people of Calyrex specially offered these items in gratitude to the King for the abundance he provided.

After a brief contemplation, Naoki spoke: ”I promise you.”

Calyrex felt gratitude and emotion in its heart: ”Then I will always wait here for you. Though my power has not fully recovered, if you need my Help, you may come here to find me.”

Naoki smiled and nodded: ”I understand.”

He remembered the village chief mentioning that there were books in his home recording legends related to Calyrex and decided to visit the Freezington Village chief.

Thus, Naoki bid farewell to Calyrex and rode Koraidon away from there.

Snowflakes began to drift in the sky again, and Calyrex stood in the snow, watching them leave.

Its little follower is truly a kind person. Calyrex thought.

It silently gazed at the back of the little follower, a thought flashed in its mind — perhaps it could re-establish Bonds with humans like this.

This time, it didn’t want to be a King anymore.

Freezington Village.

The old village chief, upon hearing Naoki’s intention, took him back to his home.

”The King of Bountiful Harvests, huh? It’s been so long since I’ve heard that name. If It really existed, that would be nice,” the chief said. ”The land here in Freezington Village is becoming more and more barren, making it difficult for crops to Grow.”

Naoki felt a bit confused: ”Logically, Calyrex led the Galar Region in ancient times, so why do we rarely hear legends about It now?”

The chief looked at this tourist and shook his head: ”Maybe it’s because those stories were just made-up legends?”

”Just like some myths say we humans were created by God, if the King of Bountiful Harvests truly existed, why hasn’t It appeared for such a long time?”

Naoki: ”...” Possibly, those who believe see, and those who don’t believe don’t?

The old chief continued: ”When I was young, my history teacher taught me that the Galar Region has always been ruled by royals who protected the Galar Region from the Darkest Day’s crisis.”

”It’s said that a long, long time ago, the Darkest Day broke out in the Galar Region, and at that time, two heroes used the legendary sword and shield to successfully drive away the Darkest Day, saving the Galar Region.”

”If Calyrex truly existed, It should also come out to protect Its people, right?”

At this point, the old chief pointed to one side of the bookshelf in the living room.

”Alright, the books about the King of Bountiful Harvests are placed on the bottom shelf; go take a look yourself!”
