“We’ll get some rest and set off tomorrow.” Lu Ye waved the jade slip in his hand.

“Yes!” Lin Yinxiu cheerfully accepted the order and returned to her room to get some rest.

When Xiao Xinghe saw that she seemed as innocent as a child, he couldn’t help but smile. “Where did you find a woman like her, Junior Brother? She’s like a kid.”

Lu Ye looked around to ensure there was no one else before whispering to the other man.

Xiao Xinghe was shocked. “No way!”

[I can’t believe what I’ve just heard.]

Lu Ye nodded solemnly. “Otherwise, why would she have become a member of my team when the two of us didn’t know each other in the past?”

Although he was displeased with Qian Wudang for assigning Lin Yinxiu to his team at that time, he had gotten used to it after spending some time with her.

Lin Yinxiu was an obedient person. Any team leader would love a member like her. However, since her identity was special, Lu Ye reckoned that he had to inform Xiao Xinghe about it so that the latter would be careful when coming into contact with her.

Xiao Xinghe was never interested in such matters, so he stopped probing further. “I’m going to the Vault of Providence now.”

It seemed that he was going to purchase an Amulet to cultivate his power.

Most cultivators would do the same. When they had some battle points, they would purchase Amulets. Rarely anyone would keep the battle points.

After all, the best cultivation method for them was to purchase Amulets and increase their powers.

Only Lu Ye always had a lot of battle points stored.

After Xiao Xinghe went to the Vault of Providence, Lu Ye returned to his room and sank his soul into the Soaring Dragon Boundary’s Source.

Since his cultivation had improved, it would take him a shorter time to look into the Source each time.

The next morning, a Spirit Boat rose into the sky from the courtyard. The three of them set off on their journey again.

In the hall of the Ministry of Laws, Qian Wudang was dealing with work behind the desk. Across from him, a chubby old man gauchely leaned against the chair and placed his crossed legs on the table as he leisurely hummed a song.

The veins on Qian Wudang’s forehead bobbed. Unable to take it anymore, he landed a palm on the table with a slam. “Old Man, what are you doing here instead of doing your work in the Hunting Pavilion? Also, my authority will be ruined if others see you looking like this in my place.”

The old man snorted. “I’ve been living a free and unfettered life. What does it have anything to do with your authority?”

It wasn’t like Qian Wudang could vent his anger on him. He rubbed his temple and asked, “What on Earth do you want?”

The old man straightened up. “I’m just curious about why you regard the brat from the Crimson Blood Sect so highly. You even let Yinxiu join his team.”

Qian Wudang felt his heart aching at the mention of this. The old man didn’t understand his concerns as he didn’t have any children. Regardless of how highly Qian Wudang regarded a person, he wouldn’t do such a thing. The reason Lin Yiuxiu was allowed to join Lu Ye’s team was that she had thrown a tantrum.

Moreover, Qian Wudang understood that he couldn’t protect her forever. She had to venture into the outside world to get some training, and it was a good chance.

“Anyway, that brat is pretty lucky. It took him around five days to complete the previous task. I wonder how long it’ll take him this time.”

Qian Wudang asked, “What do you think?”

“Who knows? Previously, the target was last seen by a Nightingale ten days ago when he accepted the task, so there were some traces. However, this time is different. It has been two months since the target was last seen. Even if a Divine Ocean Realm Master were to look for the target, it would depend on their luck. If they’re lucky, it’ll take them one to two months. If they’re unlucky, they still won’t find the target even after several years.”

Qian Wudang was overjoyed. “That’s great.”

“Why do you look so happy?” The old man was perplexed.

“What do you know?” Qian Wudang was too lazy to explain anything.

If the task was completed too quickly, Lin Yinxiu would have a sense of accomplishment, and she would keep staying by Lu Ye’s side.

That was why Qian Wudang found the task wonderful. If they spent months searching for the target but to no avail, Lin Yinxiu would be bored of the job. By then, Qian Wudang would persuade her and make her change her mind. At the thought of this, he was exultant.

Around four days later, Qian Wudang was dealing with work when he received a message. After he took a look, he was surprised. “Have they completed the task?”

[How did they do it so quickly? That’s impossible.]

Lu Ye could be said to be lucky when he managed to complete the task in five days previously. That was because the target had never left the place where he was last seen. Nevertheless, this time was different. The target was last seen two months ago. During this period, no one knew where he had gone. It was like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

That was the reason such tasks had been stuck in the Hunting Pavilion for a long time, and no teams were willing to take on them.

Normally, no team would specifically select such tasks. Most of the time, they would take on other tasks and take a look at the information about the tasks which required searching for the targets. That way, when carrying out tasks with handsome rewards, they could also keep an eye out for the targets of tasks with less attractive awards. If they were lucky, they could also capture those targets while they were at it.

If they managed to capture the targets, they would be considered to have completed the tasks, and the rewards would go to them.

Therefore, it was inconceivable that Lu Ye was able to easily complete a task which was also extremely difficult for a Divine Ocean Realm Master.

He could be considered lucky the first time around, but something was off when he could also find the target quickly the second time.

As a Divine Ocean Realm Master, Qian Wudang had a sharp mind. The first thing that came to his mind was the treasure named the Tracking Disc, but soon, he cast the idea away.

That was because Tracking Discs were extremely rare. Even if Lu Ye had one, he couldn’t possibly have another one.

Moreover, the item was costly. It wasn’t worth it to use a Tracking Disc to carry out the task.

Qian Wudang couldn’t figure out how Lu Ye was able to rapidly finish the task. Anyway, the target had been captured and sent to jail.

Meanwhile, in the Hunting Pavilion, the chubby old man was dumbfounded as he looked at Lu Ye, who was there to return the jade slip.

Several days ago, he told Qian Wudang that if they were lucky, it would take them one to two months to complete the task. But if they were unlucky, they still wouldn’t achieve their goal after a few years. Much to his surprise, they returned in just several days.

“Brat, how did you achieve this?” The old man couldn’t contain his curiosity any longer.

“The Heavens’ blessing,” Lu Ye lied.

Naturally, the old man wouldn’t believe him.

“Senior, it’s troublesome to take on one task at a time. Can I get several tasks at once?”

To him, finding and capturing the targets was easy, but the only problem was that he had to waste a lot of time going back and forth between two places. If he could take on several tasks at once, it would be more efficient.

“Normally, you can’t… The main concern is that you might not be able to complete so many tasks at once. Moreover, if you’ve taken on all the tasks, it’ll be unfair to others. What if they also want those tasks? Therefore, we have a rule here that every team can only accept one task at a time,” explained the old man.

“But nobody wants those tasks.”

“Rules are rules. Without rules, everything will descend into chaos.”

“Do you have some guidance for me, Senior?” Lu Ye asked cautiously.

The old man grinned. “You’re so foolish. Since the jade slips are here, you just have to memorise the characteristics of these targets. You don’t necessarily have to take on the tasks before you can capture the targets. Once you’ve brought them back, you can go through the procedure of accepting tasks, and you’ll receive the rewards.”

Upon hearing his explanation, Lu Ye replied, “Thanks for the guidance, Senior.”

“Anyway, be honest with me, brat. Why do you think you can complete these tasks? It’s not easy to search for these people. They’re adept at hiding.”

“Don’t you know there’s this thing called the Tracking Disc, Senior?”

“You’re ungrateful, brat.” The old man snapped. “I’ve taught you how to complete the tasks cleverly, but you’ve still lied to me. You’re a liar.”

A moment later, Lu Ye left the Hunting Pavilion with a puzzled expression. He had honestly answered his question, but he was still accused of lying to him. He had indeed used Tracking Discs to find the targets.

The next day, a Spirit Boat rose in the air as the three of them set off again.

After Qian Wudang watched the Spirit Boat leave, he turned around and entered the Hunting Pavilion.

The chubby old man was cheerful. “You rarely visit my place, Commander. Why are you even here? Come on, have a seat.”

Qian Wudang felt his eyelids twitching. “Old Commander, can you be more sedate? Stop teasing a Junior like me.”

The old man said with a smile, “What are you even talking about? You’re the only Commander of the Ministry of Laws.”

“It’s not like I wanted to be a Commander. You made me take up the role.” Qian Wudang was furious at the mention of this. Others thought that being the Commander of the Ministry of Laws was glorious, but it wasn’t easy to be one. He had to deal with endless work every day, so he didn’t have much free time. He also had less time to spend with Lin Yinxiu.

If not for the fact that the old man had fooled him, he wouldn’t have agreed to become the Commander of the Ministry of Laws.

Much to his chagrin, several days after he took up the role, the old man, who was supposed to be dead, turned out to be alive and kicking. He even took charge of the affairs in the Hunting Pavilion. Considering the short distance between their workplaces, it was understandable that Qian Wudang was vexed.

“Stop talking about the past.” The old man chuckled. “Anyway, how may I help you, Commander?”

Qian Wudang asked, “Has that brat taken on one of those tasks again?”

“Yes.” The old man nodded.

“Did you ask him how he could find the targets so soon?”

“I did, but he said he had used Tracking Discs. How could he lie to me? Tracking Discs are granted by the Heavens. No one can make the items. Who would use Tracking Discs to complete the tasks from the Hunting Pavilion?”

Qian Wudang frowned. “Do you think he may have indeed made use of Tracking Discs?”

The old man was speechless for a moment. “Are you a fool? Or is he a fool?”

Naturally, Qian Wudang wouldn’t admit that he was a fool. He said, “In that case, is he merely lucky to have completed the two tasks?”

The old man turned solemn. “It’s unusual if anyone could be that lucky.”

Qian Wudang felt his chest tightening as he realised something. There was a thing called the Heavens’ blessing in Jiu Zhou.
