Although Xiao Xinghe was originally from the Crimson Blood Sect, he was currently a disciple of Blue Emperor City, after all. Since he was no longer the Sect’s disciple, he was naturally less attractive than Lu Ye, a disciple of the Crimson Blood Sect, to Liu Yuemei.

If she could get Lu Ye transferred to Surging Waves Lake Pass, she could easily torture him to death.

She had just experienced the loss of her child. Although she had killed Li Taibai, she could barely vent her fury and misery. Since Lu Ye suddenly came to her at this point, she would naturally want to destroy him.

It was the reason Lu Ye still decided to come to this place even though he knew his presence would make things more complicated. He was a bait that got Liu Yuemei hooked.

“I’m afraid you’ll be disappointed, Pass Leader Liu. I’m a member of the Ministry of Laws now, and it’s my first mission. If I can’t even complete the task, I’ll be too embarrassed to face the Commander again. There’s no way I’ll work for anyone else at this point.”

“Do you want to complete the task?”

“That’s for sure.”

“Alright!” Liu Yuemei yelled. “I’ve thought it through. Since you’ve come here with Commander Qian’s token, I’ll have to show him some respect. If you want to complete your task, I’ll give you a chance. Whether you can seize the chance depends on you.”

Lu Ye arched his brow. “For real?”

Liu Yuemei sneered. “Although I’m a woman, I’ll never go back on my word. Why would I lie to you?”

Lu Ye appeared vigilant as he asked cautiously, “What do you want me to do, Pass Leader Liu?”

Liu Yuemei smiled. “I’ve heard that you’re able to kill enemies much stronger than you are, and it’s not in the traditional sense. It’s a shame that I’ve never witnessed it before.”

Upon hearing that, Lu Ye asked, “Do you want me to get into a battle with someone, Pass Leader Liu?”

“If you win, you can take Xiao Xinghe away. But if you lose, you’ll have to stay here and work for me. Do you have the guts to take on the challenge?”

After giving it some thought, Lu Ye dipped his head. “I can do that, but before that, I’ll need to know who will be contending with me.” He turned to look briefly at Chen Ke. “If it’s Cultivator Chen here, there’s no need for a battle. I’m not a match for him.”

“Don’t worry. I won’t make things difficult for you. Chen Ke is indeed significantly more powerful than you are.” Upon finishing her words, Liu Yuemei sent someone a message.

A moment later, a slim man flew into the hall and cupped his fists respectfully. “Greetings, Madam. What can I do for you?”

The person looked ordinary and short, but his expression was eerie, and his aura was ferocious. He also seemed to exude a metallic tang, which showed that he had killed countless people before.

The moment Xiao Xinghe saw the person, his expression changed as he whispered, “Qi Wu!”

It seemed that he was wary of this man.

Behind the desk, Liu Yuemei said, “Qi Wu, I want you to contend with this man named Lu Yi Ye. You can only win the battle. Do you get it?”

Qi Wu turned to look at Lu Ye with a frown. “What’s his cultivation?”

“Third-Order Real Lake Realm!”

Qi Wu scowled. “Madam, I’m three Minor Realms above him. He’s not a match for me. Moreover, you know me very well. I don’t contend with anyone using skills or techniques. I only know how to kill. It’ll be terrible if I accidentally kill him.”

Before Liu Yuemei could say anything, a displeased Lu Ye sneered. “It so happens that I only know how to kill as well.”

Qi Wu said dispassionately, “I haven’t seen someone as audacious as you are in a long time. I hope you’re as powerful as your words.”

“I also hope you’re as formidable as you look.”

As their eyes met, there seemed to be some sparks between them. Beside him, Xiao Xinghe kept sending him signals with his eyes. Even Lin Yinxiu was anxious.

While seated, Liu Yuemei placed her arms on the table and supported her chin with her palms, watching what was going on with interest. Seeing how young and proud Lu Ye was, she landed a slap on the table and announced, “Since the two of you only know how to kill, why don’t we make it a death match instead?”

“Madam!” Xiao Xinghe exclaimed and stepped forward as his expression changed drastically. It would be fine if it was only a battle. Lu Ye could admit defeat if he wasn’t a match for the other party. However, if it was a death match, Lu Ye might be killed, especially when Qi Wu was a ferocious cultivator who was three Minor Realms above him. There was no way Lu Ye could defeat him.

“You’re not in any place to speak!” Liu Yuemei snorted and spread her aura as a Divine Ocean Realm Master. No longer able to speak, Xiao Xinghe could only hold on with difficulty. Liu Yuemei then turned to look at Lu Ye and Qi Wu. “What do the two of you think?”

Qi Wu replied calmly, “I’ll certainly obey your order, Pass Leader.”

An impassive Lu Ye fished out something from his Storage Bag. “In that case, we should probably make it extreme. Why don’t we enter this thing to spare others from seeing a bloody scene.”

When Qi Wu saw the thing in Lu Ye’s hand, he was shocked. “Deathmatch Platform!”

Certainly, he was aware of a famous treasure like the Deathmatch Platform. He initially thought that Lu Ye was just bluffing, so it surprised him when the latter summoned such a treasure. His heart sank as he seriously sized up Lu Ye for the first time.

If Lu Ye wasn’t confident, he wouldn’t have summoned the Deathmatch Platform. However, Qi Wu didn’t understand why Lu Ye had the confidence to get into a death match with him. There was no way he had hidden his cultivation. Since a Divine Ocean Realm Master was around, his cultivation couldn’t be concealed. Therefore, he must be a Third-Order Real Lake Realm Master.

Suppressing the uneasiness in his heart, Qi Wu turned to look at Liu Yuemei. “I’ll only obey your order, Pass Leader.”

Liu Yuemei squinted her eyes. “Lu Yi Ye, it seems that you’re full of confidence.”

Lu Ye replied defiantly, “I just want to do my best.”

After a moment of silence, Liu Yuemei said, “In that case, you two will fight each other inside the Deathmatch Platform!”

Lu Ye cupped his fists. “Before that, I have a demand.”

“Go ahead.”

“I hope you’ll make a Sacred Pact. If I survive the battle, I’ll take Xiao Xinghe away, and you mustn’t stop me.”

“Are you doubting me?” Liu Yuemei glowered at him.

“I don’t believe in any empty promise.” An unafraid Lu Ye stared back at her. After coming into contact with Liu Yuemei, Lu Ye felt that, just like what Xiao Xinghe had said, the woman had slightly lost her mind following the death of her child. As a Pass Leader, she even agreed to let her subordinate contend with someone inside the Deathmatch Platform. That wasn’t what a Divine Ocean Realm Master was supposed to do.

She was eager to kill Lu Ye, but due to her identity, she couldn’t do it herself. As such, she could only use someone else’s help.

A crazy person like her certainly had no more credibility left. The best way to deal with the situation was to ask her to make a Sacred Pact before the battle started.

“Alright. I’ll do as you’ve said.” Liu Yuemei scoffed and lifted her hand. As a golden glow radiated from the Void, she fished out a Sacred Pact and wrote down the terms and conditions. Then, she left behind her Brand and tossed the Sacred Pact at Lu Ye.

Lu Ye lowered his head and pored over the details. When he saw a particular sentence, he became at ease. Things were unfolding according to his plan. Liu Yuemei had tried to trick him by twisting the words in the Sacred Pact.

He pretended that he didn’t see it and eagerly left behind his Brand as well. The Sacred Pact turned into a ray of light and disappeared. The Heavens seemed to have descended, and the Sacred Pact was made.

“If you two have nothing else to say, start the fight now,” Liu Yuemei urged impatiently.

“I’ll try not to tear you apart,” Qi Wu said.

A silent Lu Ye infused his Spiritual Power into the Deathmatch Platform and cast it at Qi Wu.

An anxious Xiao Xinghe wanted to stop it, but he was immovable as he had been suppressed by Liu Yuemei’s aura. He couldn’t even speak, let alone stop Lu Ye.

On the other hand, Lin Yinxiu had calmed down as she fell deep in thought.

The small Deathmatch Platform flew towards Qi Wu and exploded, but just then, Liu Yuemei suddenly lifted her hand and pulled Qi Wu towards her. At the same time, Chen Ke, who had been by the woman’s side, suddenly appeared in the spot where Qi Wu had stood.

At that moment, a flabbergasted Lu Ye exclaimed, “You…”

Chen Ke grinned at him. “Let’s fight.”

As soon as he finished speaking, the two of them disappeared.

“Hahahaha!” Liu Yuemei suddenly laughed at the top of her lungs like a mad person. “Did you think you could trick me? You’re so young and naive!”

There were a lot of Real Lake Realm Masters in Surging Waves Lake Pass, and many cultivators could meet her demands. However, she only asked the ferocious Qi Wu to come over. Naturally, she hoped that Qi Wu could cripple or even kill Lu Ye during the battle.

That was her initial plan. Nevertheless, the following incidents made her realise that Lu Ye wasn’t afraid of Qi Wu. It was proven by how he took the initiative to summon the Deathmatch Platform. Not only was he unafraid, but he even had the confidence to defeat Qi Wu. That was the reason he fished out the Deathmatch Platform.

It was inconceivable to Liu Yuemei how Lu Ye had the confidence to defeat someone who was three Minor Realms above him.

Regardless, Lu Ye’s attitude and actions made her come to this conclusion. In that case, if she let Qi Wu take part in the battle, he would probably be killed.

Since she couldn’t rely on Qi Wu, she could only pin her hopes on Chen Ke, who was her disciple in the Seventh-Order Real Lake Realm. Although he was only one Minor Realm above Qi Wu, he was significantly more powerful.

Even if Lu Ye had the confidence to defeat Qi Wu, he could never win the fight against Chen Ke. As for changing the candidate at the most critical moment, it wasn’t hard for a Divine Ocean Realm Master like her to do that. No one at the scene could stop her.

For this reason, she had left behind a trap when writing down the terms and conditions of the Sacred Pact. Although there were many words, the name Qi Wu was never mentioned so that she could change the contender at the last second.

Although she had been behaving crazily, she knew it wasn’t appropriate for her to make a move. Otherwise, she would’ve entered the Deathmatch Platform herself instead of Chen Ke.
