Qian Wudang wasn’t wrong, though. In Feng Wujiang’s time, things weren’t as complicated as they were now. If Lu Ye wanted to grow in power, he would have to face even more difficulties than Feng Wujiang.

Fan Xiangyi said with a smile, “Aren’t you worried he’ll pursue Yinxiu romantically?”

Qian Wudang was startled for a moment before blowing his top. “I bet he wouldn’t dare!”

Just then, he felt a vibration coming from the military token. He took a look and realised Lu Ye had sent him a message asking him about Lin Yinxiu.

Qian Wudang wasn’t in a good mood in the first place, so he replied, ‘I’ll leave her to you now. However, if you dare to hit on her, I’ll kill you!’

Outside the Ministry of Laws, Lu Ye appeared helpless. [Why would I hit on Lin Yinxiu? Is Qian Wudang out of his mind? If he’s so worried about his woman, tell her to stay away from me instead of ordering me not to hit on her!]

However, things had come to a point where he had no choice but to accept Lin Yinxiu if he wanted to keep his position as the team leader and the right to freely choose his members.

After returning to the courtyard from the Ministry of Laws, he called out, “Lin Yinxiu!”

“Yes.” Lin Yinxiu immediately dashed out of her room, which was beside Lu Ye’s.

“There’s a new mission. Come with me.” Lu Ye beckoned to her.

Lin Yinxiu hurriedly followed him and appeared curious. “What’s the mission, Team Leader?”

She didn’t expect there would be a mission not long after she joined the team, so she was excited. She wondered if they were going to punish some bad guy.

“Don’t ask. You’ll find out when we arrive.” Lu Ye donned an icy expression.

“Alright,” Lin Yinxiu replied.

Lu Ye felt that the woman was indeed obedient. Although it had only been a short time since they got to know each other, he discovered that the woman was innocent and inexperienced. Fortunately, she was powerful enough, and it was probably not difficult to get along with her.

Certainly, the main reason was that she obeyed his orders. As the team leader, he would have to give some orders in the future. If the woman ignored or even disobeyed his orders, it would give Lu Ye a headache.

The two of them then shot into the sky. Since Lin Yinxiu was four Minor Realms above Lu Ye, she could fly pretty fast. After leaving Grand Sky City, she even considerately summoned her Flight-Type Artifact. “Come on, Team Leader. It’ll save you some energy.”

Lu Ye took a look and discovered that it was a flower basket, just like what Hua Ci usually used. This flower basket was more expensive than the one Hua Ci owned as there were more ornaments. He directly turned her down. “There’s no need for that.”

He then summoned his Spirit Boat and boarded it before the two of them shot forward at full speed.

What was worth mentioning was that Lin Yinxiu had been doing great. Unless Lu Ye asked her any questions, she wouldn’t bother him. Nevertheless, Lu Ye was surprised by how overly curious she seemed. After leaving Grand Sky City, she kept looking around as though everything was new to her.

After giving it some thought, Lu Ye figured out that the woman had been kept like a canary before this. Since she had Qian Wudang’s support, she didn’t have to toil away to earn her cultivation resources. It was only normal that she wasn’t familiar with worldly affairs.

In that case, she might be weaker than an average Seventh-Order Real Lake Realm Master. If she came across an enemy, she might not be able to showcase a power that matched her cultivation.

During the brief conversation, Lu Ye found out some basic information about her. She was a Ghost Cultivator who had learned a bit of the Way of Medicine.

This came as a surprise to Lu Ye. That was because none of the candidates he had in mind was a Ghost Cultivator. Lin Yinxiu had undoubtedly filled in that role.

Every law enforcement team consisted of six people mainly because it would be easier for them to use Six Elemental Spirit Locks. Another reason was that they had to include all major factions. Only then could the team members work perfectly well together.

For example, in Team A3, Geng Wuwang was a Body-tempering Cultivator who could deal with the enemies head-on. Kang Yuanqiao was a Sword Cultivator, Shangguan Qiu was a Spell Cultivator, Xiao Ruyun was a Ghost Cultivator, and Mu Zheng was a Combat Cultivator who could also heal the injured. There was no doubt such a team was well-balanced. Regardless of the scale of the battle, they could join forces and showcase an immense collective power.

After they left Grand Sky City, they traversed over 10,000 kilometres and only got some rest in the wilderness. It wasn’t until the afternoon of the third day that they finally arrived at their destination, which was Surging Waves Lake Pass.

Lu Ye had come all the way here to take Xiao Xinghe away. It was the biggest reason he agreed to become a team leader.

Although he had killed Tan Shu when he disguised himself as Li Taibai, Tan Shu wasn’t the source of the problem; it was the Sky Origin Clan or the person behind Tan Shu. Even though Tan Shu was dead, there were still people who were hostile against Xiao Xinghe. To help him get rid of danger, Lu Ye had to bring him out of Surging Waves Lake Pass.

He had no idea why Blue Emperor City was powerless to help when their disciple was oppressed. In that case, Lu Ye had to give Xiao Xinghe a hand as the latter was his Third Senior Brother.

Qian Wudang’s token had given him the right to choose his members. However, whether he could get Xiao Xinghe out of Surging Waves Lake Pass depended on how well he could execute his plan. Qian Wudang had said that the Pass Leader had to agree to it before someone could be transferred to another place. He was unable to have a hand in this as he was from a different organisation. Although he was authoritative as the Commander of the Ministry of Laws, he couldn’t order the Pass Leader of Surging Waves Lake Pass to do anything.

Liu Yuemei probably wouldn’t agree to let Xiao Xinghe go, and Lu Ye couldn’t forcefully take him away.

Surging Waves Lake Pass was located in the centre of a lake, hence its name. Some powerful Ward Cultivators had built a Water Curtain Ward around the Pass. When enemies came to attack, all the water in the lake could be turned into a barrier. The place had a natural advantage when it came to defence.

When Lu Ye and Lin Yinxiu arrived, they saw many cultivators leaving and entering the Pass in a hurry. Many cultivators who had returned were injured. Some of them were dead as only their corpses were brought back.

Lin Yinxiu’s face was slightly pale as she hid behind Lu Ye and whispered, “Team Leader, the war here seems intense.”

There wasn’t any war at Surging Waves Lake Pass previously. However, after they launched an attack against Dark Moon Forest Pass and destroyed their defence, the peace between the two Passes was shattered.

After Dark Moon Forest Pass suffered such a setback, they naturally wouldn’t let the other party off. Following Li Taibai’s departure, Lin Yue and Zhang Kun ordered their soldiers to launch an attack. The soldiers of the two sides were in an intense fight in the buffer zone between the Passes.

That said, both parties had been restrained in this war. The Divine Ocean Realm Masters on both sides never made a move, and it wasn’t a large-scale war either. Only groups of soldiers kept clashing with each other. In that case, injuries and casualties were inevitable.

Since the Grand Ward had been activated, Lu Ye and Lin Yinxiu were unable to enter the Pass, which was only open to their soldiers.

Fortunately, some soldiers were standing guard. Lu Ye approached one of them and cupped his fists. “I’m Lu Ye of the Ministry of Laws. I’m here to complete a task. Please inform your Pass Leader about it.”

“The Ministry of Laws?” The cultivator was shocked, wondering why some people from the Ministry of Laws had come to their Pass.

The Ministry of Laws was famous, and it was usually bad news when their law enforcers were on a mission. That was why the cultivator felt uneasy when he heard that Lu Ye was from the Ministry of Laws. Naturally, he wouldn’t dare be disrespectful, so he hurriedly said, “Please give me a minute.”

He then entered the city and went to look for the Pass Leader.

Lu Ye and Lin Yinxiu waited outside, which elicited attention from other cultivators who stood guard. However, no one dared to talk to them, which went to show how intimidating the Ministry of Laws was.

A moment later, the cultivator rushed into a hall in the city and cupped his fists. “Pass Leader, two people from the Ministry of Laws are here to see you.”

In front of him, a man was going through some information. The soldiers of the two Passes had been clashing with each other as of late, so he could no longer enjoy a peaceful life as he had to deal with a lot of work.

It also didn’t help that Liu Yuemei was drowned in the misery of losing her child, so the man had to deal with everything on his own, which was why he was displeased.

He was the other Pass Leader of Surging Waves Lake Pass, Che Zixiong. Although he was in the same Minor Realm as Liu Yuemei, he was slightly more powerful. However, he was the Deputy Pass Leader of Surging Waves Lake Pass while Liu Yuemei was the Pass Leader.

After all, she had Yu Huajin’s support and Surging Waves Lake Pass belonged to Heavenly Gate Canyon. Che Zixiong’s background wasn’t comparable to that of Liu Yuemei.

“What are they doing here?” Che Zixiong frowned. Just like the cultivator, the first thing that came to mind when he heard the two people were from the Ministry of Laws was that a soldier in the Pass had committed a crime, which was why the people of the Ministry of Laws came to arrest him. But soon enough, he realised something was off. “Did you just say there are only two people?”

“Yes, only two people. One man and one woman.”

Che Zixiong was puzzled. When people of the Ministry of Laws were on a mission, there would usually be six people in a team. No two people would be out there carrying out a mission. In that case, they probably were not there to arrest anyone. A relieved Che Zixiong said, “Tell them to come in.”

“Yes,” the cultivator replied and left. When he reached the Grand Ward, he told someone to open a gap before leading Lu Ye and Lin Yinxiu to the palace.

Soon enough, they entered the hall and looked up to see a man in front of them. Liu Yuemei was nowhere in sight.

“Greetings, Pass Leader. I’m Lu Ye of the Ministry of Laws, and she’s my team member, Lin Yinxiu.”

Che Zixiong nodded. “Why are the two of you here?”

While holding the hilt of his weapon, Lu Ye announced, “The Commander has ordered me to come here and take someone with me back to the Ministry of Laws. He’ll be transferred to our Ministry, so please agree to it, Pass Leader.” With that, he stepped forward and passed Qian Wudang’s token to him. “This is the Commander’s token. Please have a look, Sir.”

Che Zixiong took the jade tablet and infused his Spiritual Power into it. He instantly felt a hint of Qian Wudang’s aura. After he took a look at the message inside and verified everything, he passed it back to Lu Ye.

“There’s nothing wrong with the token.” Che Zixiong nodded. “Who is it that you want to take with you?”

He wasn’t surprised. In the Passes at the front line, there were many outstanding cultivators or people with powerful backgrounds who would be transferred to different Ministries. Usually, the Pass Leaders wouldn’t reject such requests.
