Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

It was twilight in Huaxia.

Inside the super base, Lu Li sensed the Cosmic Battleships hovering over skies worldwide, without a hint of surprise on his face.

He had been monitoring this super Cosmic Battleship all along.

Whether it sent another probe to Earth to investigate or dispatched countless small and medium-sized Cosmic Battleships to attack Earth, he saw it all unfold.

The super Cosmic Battleship mothership did not come.

What came were ten assault ships and over a thousand small battleships.

Each of those ten assault ships was as large as an entire prefecture-level city, with a vast area of over ten thousand square kilometers, truly colossal.

Although the additional thousand were small battleships, compared to Earth’s current technology, they were not ”small”; the area of each ship’s base was estimated to be over a hundred square kilometers.

These fleets were divided into ten camps. Besides two assault ships and two hundred small battleships in Asia, America, and Africa, the other four continents each had one assault ship and one hundred small battleships.

Lu Li observed that the alien warriors inside those battleships were already fully armed.

All these alien warriors were clad in white mecha akin to Iron Man’s suit.

They seemed to be waiting for the battleship’s first round of bombarding before landing and then conducting extermination battles.

Lu Li roughly tallied up the numbers.

The number of alien warriors arriving on Earth this time was astonishing, reaching nearly a million.

This was almost a tenth of the number of aliens from the super Cosmic Battleship mothership.

”These Cosmic Battleships are very advanced in technology, and Earthly civilization at present cannot possibly withstand them.”

Lu Li sat in front of the window, without any intention of making a move.

At this moment, there was a rapid knocking on the door from behind.

There was a doorbell at the entrance, but the visitor was too urgent to ring it, showing extreme urgency.

Lu Li softly said, ”Come in.”

The next moment, the metal door slid open automatically.

Shen Xia rushed in, her face filled with terror, ”Lu Li, it’s bad, aliens have invaded Earth!”

Lu Li, still leaning on the metal chair, looked out at the bright moon suspended on the horizon, and replied calmly, ”I know.”

Shen Xia approached quickly, asking uncertainly, ”Aren’t you going to take action against these aliens?”

Lu Li did not speak, and with a wave of his hand, a multitude of virtual screens appeared all around.

All the screens showed comments from netizens.

Lu Li said, expressionless, ”Look at the content of these comments.”

Shen Xia glanced at the nearest virtual screen.

”Damn it!”

”Conspiracy! The previous events were definitely a conspiracy!”

”I suspect there was never any gamma-ray burst, the ancestors didn’t save the world!”

”He’s played a good game, it turns out that the real purpose is to rule the world, and to think I used to believe he really had no interest in ruling Earth, it turns out he’s just trying to find an honorable excuse, honestly, we don’t even know if the gamma-ray burst really happened, nor do we know if he really saved the world, he’s already got enough moral authority, we can’t even refute, truly pathetic!”

”Even if it’s pathetic? Do you have a way to resist?”

One angry and questioning comment after another about Lu Li appeared before her eyes.

After scanning them briefly, Shen Xia hesitated, ”Are you... angry? So you’re not planning to save the humans on Earth again?”

Lu Li responded softly, ”No, if I wasn’t planning to save Earth again, I wouldn’t have held a press conference yesterday. I mentioned that I want to become the ’Eternal Star Lord,’ so I will save Earth again.”

Shen Xia, looking perplexed at his profile, asked, ”Then why don’t you act when the aliens are invading Earth?”

Lu Li calmly stated, ”The people are ignorant, hence all beings suffer. They never believed that I am the only one who can lead humanity to glory. So whether I truly prevented a gamma-ray burst saving the world before or warned them about an alien advanced civilization eyeing the solar system this time, they all think I have ulterior motives. To be honest, do you think at my level of power, anything on Earth can repay me?”

Shen Xia thought for a moment and answered seriously, ”No.”

Lu Li gazing into the vast night continued, ”So, why do you think I chose to save Earth before and choose to save humanity a second time now?”

Shen Xia seemed to understand a bit, ”Because of us?”

Lu Li nodded slightly, ”That’s right, because of my friends and family, my wish is for you all to live happily within your lifetimes, not subject to public suspicion.”

Shen Xia, with a thoughtful expression, said, ”I get what you mean, you’re not planning to save humanity immediately because the whole world still has doubts about you, thinking the gamma-ray burst was perhaps fake, and your saving Earth was also fake. If you act now, solving these aliens effortlessly, they might gush with gratitude now, but later they could start doubting again if this was something you orchestrated to rule Earth. The world may not dare do anything to you, but some reckless individuals might pose threats to us, just like your distant relative who was murdered; being in such an environment might not bring us true happiness, so you need the global populace to see the truth clearly before taking action to save the world?”
