Gene Unlocking: I Evolve Every Day

The soul has been a topic of study throughout history and around the world.

In different academic fields, the soul has different interpretations.

Moreover, even within some fields, there are many disagreements.

For example, from the perspective of religious culture, different religions have some differences in defining the soul.

Christianity believes that the soul is given by God, and after death, it either ascends to Heaven or descends to Hell.

Buddhism, on the other hand, believes that the soul is in endless reincarnation, influencing the rebirth of individuals through karma and cause and effect.

The Daoist view of the soul is more interesting. Daoists believe that the human body has three souls and seven spirits. After death, souls can report to the Celestial Court or be thrown into the cycle of reincarnation in Hell. However, in Daoism, the soul can be cultivated, for example, by departing Yin Spirit and Yang Spirit.

Unlike religion, science tends to explain the soul more from a ”physical” aspect.

In medicine, the soul is considered to be a consciousness produced by the human nervous system.

Some scientists also believe that the soul may be a mass of energy with Yin attributes, consisting of some microwave particles.

Without exception, to this day, nobody has been able to explain what the soul is.

However, according to Lu Li, many people have attempted to prove the existence of the soul.

Thinking of this, Lu Li looked at Liu Kexin nestled in his arms and said, ”Honey, have you heard of the experiment on the change in body weight after death?”

Liu Kexin, still leaning against his chest, replied offhandedly, ”I’ve heard. It’s said that in 1907, Dr. Duncan MacDougall in Massachusetts, Ugly Country, had people on the verge of death lie on a scale to measure their weight change before and after death. He concluded that people lose exactly twenty-one grams after death, which led to the later emergence of an alternative love expression, the so-called ’twenty-one grams of love.’

The phrase ’twenty-one grams of love’ was very popular in the alternative culture era.

Lu Li, naturally aware of this, used his superior perception to simultaneously detect the fetus in the belly of Julia Giannini in another room and casually asked, ”Then what do you think a soul is?”

As he spoke, his extraordinary perception had already detected the fetus inside Julia Giannini.

Lu Li also confirmed the presence of a soul within this fetus.

This outcome did not surprise him since Julia Giannini had been pregnant longer than Liu Kexin. As a result, the fetus not only had a heartbeat but had also mostly formed.

Lu Li did not stay focused on this fetus for long but instead directed his perception toward the hospital’s obstetrics and gynecology department.

After a moment of reflection, Liu Kexin said, ”Don’t laugh at me, but I’m quite superstitious and believe that the soul consists of three souls and seven spirits.”

Lu Li sensed the obstetrics and gynecology department and chuckled, ”Why would I?”

What left him a bit speechless was that it was possibly nighttime; the nearby hospital’s obstetrics and gynecology department was full of pregnant women who were several months along or nearing childbirth, with no one who had just conceived.

Lu Li thought for a moment, then focused on Old Ugly across the ocean.

In the next instant, he found many newly pregnant women in a New York hospital’s prenatal examination department.

He immersed his perception into the room and explored a young white woman with blonde hair and blue eyes, about two weeks pregnant.

Normally, at two weeks of pregnancy, the gestational sac is not visible, and the embryo is only about three centimeters long, or more accurately, still a fertilized egg.

Lu Li was very curious to know if a fertilized egg possesses a soul two weeks after conception.

The next moment, he perceived something and was utterly stunned.

”Does a two-week-old embryo have a soul?”

Lu Li found it extremely unbelievable.

This embryo wasn’t even formed yet and already possessed a soul?

He felt as though he had discovered something very intriguing.

”Perhaps the soul is bestowed at an even earlier stage,” Lu Li speculated boldly, no longer focusing on the hospital’s obstetrics and gynecology department.

He began to search worldwide for people engaged in intimate activities to verify his suspicions.

It didn’t take long for Lu Li to encounter the first scenario.

He observed that at the very moment sperm and egg combined, a burst of light inexplicably flashed, and then the fertilized egg was endowed with a soul!

”Oh!”

Lu Li mused, ”So a soul is bestowed at the very moment two cells merge.”

Earlier, he hadn’t paid close attention and hadn’t noticed why the light occurred.

Subsequently, Lu Li observed a few more couples carefully.

Moments later, he finally understood the situation in detail.

The light that appeared when the sperm and egg met was a biological luminescence phenomenon known as the ”calcium spark.”

The calcium spark begins at the outer membrane of the fertilized egg and diffuses at a certain rate within the cell, ultimately reaching its greatest intensity in the nuclear region, forming a noticeable glow.

During fertilization, calcium ions serve as an extremely important signal transduction factor.

The calcium spark indicates specific stages in the fertilization process and confirms the successful fusion of the egg and sperm.

Then, a soul is born within this glow of the ”calcium spark.”

Yes, as if it appeared out of thin air, with no trace at all.

Lu Li lay there, furrowing his brows, truly unable to grasp the concept.

He could clearly create complete human bodies, yet could not endow them with souls.
