Daddy Always Gets Jealous

Uncle Guan looked at Yan Xiaoxi, ”There should be no mistake, right? Miss Yan hasn’t confirmed...”

Yan Xiaoxi smiled lightly, like a blooming flower, ”Mr. Guan, how could I not recognize my own brother?”

Could it really be a mistake? Uncle Guan thought again, but it absolutely couldn’t be, ”After all, it has been more than ten years.”

”Just over ten years. If it were really my brother, I would recognize him at a glance. The person across is not my brother, thank you Mr. Guan for the help, truly, I’m sorry. I have an interview later, so I’ll be going now.”

Yan Xiaoxi beamed a charming smile, said goodbye to Uncle Guan, turned her head, and just then spotted a taxi, waving it down.

The taxi stopped, she opened the door, got in, reported her destination, and swiftly closed the door behind her.

Uncle Guan watched the direction in which Yan Xiaoxi left, and by the time he snapped back to reality, Huo Bei had already driven away.

He got into the car, drove to follow the taxi, but didn’t catch sight of Huo Bei.

Seeing Huo Bei’s reaction just now, he clearly recognized her, so why was there no reaction? Yan Xiaoxi’s response was also very strange.

He sat in the driver’s seat and returned a call to the old master, then sat in the car and waited for a while, indeed seeing Yan Xiaoxi ride out of the company on her white electric bike adorned with bold red lip prints.

On his way back to Nanyuan Villa, Huo Bei replayed the recent events, almost making a slip.

He redialed Huo Jinnan’s number, ”Sir.”

Huo Jinnan glanced at Che Huan, walked to the side, ”What happened just now?”

Huo Bei gripped the steering wheel, still consumed by the previous images, ”I saw my sister Xixi.”

”The sister you lost ten years ago?”

Huo Jinnan asked in a low voice.

Upon hearing Huo Bei confirm, Huo Jinnan walked a bit further away from Che Huan and lit a cigarette, ”Hmm.”

Huo Bei sounded worried, ”She was with Uncle Guan.”

Huo Jinnan took a drag from his cigarette, his brow furrowing, ”I understand, if it’s inconvenient for you to investigate, let Qin Shaojin take a look.”

Huo Bei, ”Thank you, sir.”

Huo Jinnan remained silent.

Huo Bei remembered the half-told matter and continued to report, ”Dr. Chen said that previously, at Miss Huo’s request, she administered a drug to Miss that wouldn’t be detected during forensic examination. The old master probably doesn’t know—recently, he had the hospital prescribe another drug to worsen Miss Huo’s illness, it seems he wanted to protect Miss Huo this way.”

Huo Jinnan grunted in acknowledgment, ”Is there someone protecting Dr. Chen?”

Huo Bei, ”Yes.”

Huo Jinnan uttered a heavy ”Good,” ”Did you record it?”

Remembering the close call from before, Huo Bei said, ”I did.”

Huo Jinnan’s voice was low and deep, ”Take it to Qin Shaojin.”

Che Huan stood aside, waiting for him to finish, then looked at Huo Jinnan, ”Is there a problem?”

Huo Jinnan looked at Che Huan, ”There was a bit of trouble with Huo Bei.”

”Oh.”

Che Huan did not press further.

Huo Jinnan watched for a while, his gaze finally settling on her, ”Huo Jinyun is faking insanity, Huo Bei got the evidence, and at the hospital entrance, he ran into his long-lost sister.”

”What a coincidence?”

Since he spoke up voluntarily, Che Huan raised her eyes to look at Huo Jinnan.

Not knowing what to say, she did not voice any more opinions.

Huo Jinnan turned to her, ”Don’t overthink it. If today’s me were switched with Huo Jinyun, she would have had no room for me a long time ago.”

Che Huan smiled, ”Then I’ll call my mother.”
