Daddy Always Gets Jealous

Huo Jinnan had just finished his shower and laid down on the bed when he heard Qin Shaojin’s words. His voice was chillingly cold as he responded with a ”Hmm,” ”You should apply to do another forensic examination.”

Qin Shaojin, one hand steering the wheel, saw the red light ahead and hit the brake, ”Okay.”

Huo Jinnan picked up a wristwatch beside him and glanced at it, ”That’s it then.”

Qin Shaojin thought of the day’s hot topic and smiled innocently, ”Wait a second, Huo, how come the new mayor seems like an old flame of yours? He hasn’t even officially taken office and he’s already showing off his love for you in public?”

Huo Jinnan saw Che Huan frowning at him and tightened his grip on her wrist, ”...”

Qin Shaojin curved his lips, ”Didn’t you see he only followed your Weibo? Feel honored?”

”Too honored.”

Huo Jinnan hung up the phone and tossed the mobile to the side.

Che Huan looked at Huo Jinnan, ”It seems I heard everything.”

Huo Jinnan, ”Hmm.”

Che Huan smiled, ”I remember you saying the team leader is gay.”

Huo Jinnan’s gaze wandered on Che Huan’s face, ”And then?”

Che Huan chose a relatively safe position and curled up, ”Isn’t there a saying about dogs resembling their owners?”

Huo Jinnan’s eyes darkened as he looked at Che Huan, ”Whether I’m what you think, don’t you know?”

Che Huan just laughed silently.

Huo Jinnan looked at her with cold and proud eyes, his large palm caressing her cheek, ”You really think I don’t dare to touch you now?”

Che Huan smiled and snuggled into his embrace.

Huo Jinnan looked down, ”Reckless?”

Che Huan laughed softly, ”Spoiled and proud.”

Huo Jinnan lay there, holding Che Huan, and made a call to Wen Ru, ”Mom, could you fire the housekeeper and tell her to inform her master not to engage in such thankless tasks anymore.”

After hearing Wen Ru agree, he said ”Goodnight” and hung up.

Che Huan looked at him and chuckled softly, ”Taking charge for the Qin Family? Your father-in-law is probably liking you less and less.”

Huo Jinnan looked at Che Huan, his gaze deep, ”What does it matter if he likes me? As long as you like me, that’s enough.”

Che Huan bit her lip, ”I don’t like you, though.”

”Is that so?”

Che Huan blushed, changing the subject.

...

The following day

The old master’s expression darkened upon hearing Uncle Guan’s words, ”Is that what the housekeeper said?”

Uncle Guan affirmed, ”Ms. Wen has already fired the housekeeper.”

The old master sat there, silent for a long while, before turning to Uncle Guan, ”Does he know about sending Ayun to America?”

Uncle Guan, ”He probably does, Qin Shaojin filed for a forensic examination today.”

”Let the examination happen.” The old master frowned, thinking about his name being dragged into the news, which even made it to today’s Hong Kong morning paper!

”Keep investigating, find out what the new mayor’s background really is.”

Uncle Guan looked at the old master, ”They say the mayor started following the Weibo accounts of the young master and Che Huan, but then unfollowed Che Huan and only followed the young master.”

The old master looked up at Uncle Guan.

Uncle Guan didn’t say anything more.

The old master’s expression was stern as he looked at Uncle Guan, ”No need to investigate further. He will have to show his face once he’s in Hong Kong.”

Uncle Guan, ”Understood, old master.”

The old master took a deep breath and faced Uncle Guan, ”How’s the preparation going with Lawyer Jiang?”

Uncle Guan looked at the old master, ”Everything’s almost ready, we just need to do a good job in persuading Gu Yunping and Li Li.”
