Daddy Always Gets Jealous

Zhong Qin found it amusing.

Unbeknownst to them, the three had already chatted for several hours.

...

Outside the ward, Huo Jinnan glanced at the tightly closed door of the ward, having already smoked half a pack of cigarettes.

Only when Che Huan and the little one came out hand in hand did he extinguish the cigarette between his fingers, stood up, and walked over to the balcony to open the sliding doors and let the smoke out.

Che Huan noticed the number of cigarette butts in the ashtray, which was more than usual. Remembering that he couldn’t smoke this much in such a short time normally, she knew he was worried about her. Her heart felt warm, and her eyes inevitably softened.

Huo Jinnan turned his head to look at Che Huan and walked over, stopping half a step away from her as he looked down at her.

Che Huan felt breathless under his gaze, standing there with her legs growing weak.

Sensing a heavy shadow cast over her, the little one pursed his lips in dissatisfaction and looked up at Huo Jinnan, unable to resist reminding him, ”Huo Jinnan, you already have my mom. Don’t think about other women. Men can’t be fickle like that. Besides, Huanhuan is still my girlfriend. If you keep looking at her like this, others will misunderstand you.”

Huo Jinnan paid no attention to the little guy.

Che Huan glanced at the father and son, and bit her lip, ”I’ll go check on my mom first.”

Huo Jinnan grunted in agreement, sitting down to one side.

Seizing his chance, the little one suddenly thought that perhaps Huanhuan’s mom wouldn’t like an old man like Huo Jinnan. He might manage to win over Huanhuan’s mom first, and then Huanhuan would belong to him alone?

With his heart leaping at the thought, afraid that Huo Jinnan would discover his plan, the little one made an effort to keep a straight face, looking up at Che Huan, ”Huanhuan, let me go with you. You’ve met my dad, but I haven’t seen Huanhuan’s mom yet.”

...

Che Huan looked down at the little one, wondering if it was appropriate to take him to see her mom.

If her mother knew he was Huo Jinnan’s son, surely—

Thinking this, she crouched down to coax the little one, ”My mom might not be in a good mood today, how about we go another day, okay?”

The little one sighed ”Oh,” and then agreed, ”Okay then.”

Che Huan left the living room, went downstairs, and upon entering the room, she saw Wen Ru looking out the window from the side, softly calling out ”Mom.”

Wen Ru came to her senses and looked toward Che Huan, quietly asking, ”Was it Huo Jinnan who arranged for me to stay here?”

Che Huan hesitated, and upon looking at the ward’s standard, she realized it wasn’t something she and her uncle could afford!

She nodded slightly.

Wen Ru said nothing more.

Che Huan fell silent for a while, ”Mom, I want to be with him.”

Wen Ru lay there, not looking at Che Huan or making a sound. She stared out the window for a long while, then suddenly let out a cold laugh, ”Didn’t your uncle tell you what I said?”

Che Huan bit her lip, ”What did you say?”

Wen Ru turned her head to look at Che Huan and said sternly, ”If you marry him, then you no longer have a mother!”

Che Huan frowned, ”Mom!”

”Please leave, I don’t want to talk to you now. You can marry him if you want, but prepare for my funeral the next day.” Wen Ru closed her eyes, her hand clutching the bedsheets under the cover tightly, thinking, Huanhuan, I’m sorry, I have no choice but to do this.

Why did it have to be like this?

Why push her to this extent?

This was different from last time; last time, marrying Gu Jizhou was for the sake of the child, but this time, it was for herself!

Che Huan’s eyes reddened slightly as she looked at Wen Ru.

Wen Ru showed no intention of compromising, lying there with a very cold and stern expression.
