Daddy Always Gets Jealous

She really didn’t know the Huo Family, nor did she understand the intricacies within, and turned her head to look at Huo Jinnan.

Huo Jinnan put out the fire, lit a cigarette with his left hand, took a drag, glanced at Che Huan from the corner of his eyes, ”Stay in the car, don’t move, wait for me.”

As soon as he finished speaking, he let go of Che Huan’s hand, opened the driver’s side door, and got out of the car.

The battalion commander quickly jumped down from the back seat, shaking its fur and followed him out, a face of valor!

Huo Jinnan looked down at the battalion commander and then looked up at Huo Qichang, his voice carrying a trace of chill, ”Is history about to repeat itself from that year?”

No sooner had he spoken than the battalion commander barked twice at Huo Qichang, sounding very fierce!

Huo Qichang glanced at the battalion commander, took a deep breath, looked away, glanced at the black Bentley, his voice filled with a thick sorrow, ”Anan, you’re overthinking it. Your mother suddenly became seriously ill last night, and she’s still in the emergency room, the doctors say it’s very dangerous, this might even be your last time seeing her—”

The last time?

Huo Jinnan flicked the cigarette ash, staring at Huo Qichang, calling his mother with his phone, but no one answered.

On the third try, as soon as the call connected, he heard Huo Jinxue crying, ”Second brother, come over quickly...”

Huo Jinnan turned his head and glanced at the black Bentley.

His mother fell ill at such a coincidental time?

He remembered that his mother had always been in good health except for that one serious illness that year.

He looked at Huo Qichang, ”Which hospital?”

Huo Qichang responded solemnly, ”Army Hospital.”

Why was it at the Army Hospital?

When did his mother return to Hong Kong? If the illness started there, it wouldn’t possible to transfer her!

Huo Jinnan glanced at Huo Qichang, picked up his phone, and called Uncle Lu, ”Take the young master to the Army Hospital.”

After hanging up the phone, he turned back, got into the driver’s seat, looked at Che Huan, and squeezed her hand, ”My mother is hospitalized, I’ll take you to meet her.”

Che Huan nodded, glancing at the man outside the car whose facial contours were very similar to his, probably his father, right?

It couldn’t be because she was going to register their marriage with him, and his mother got sick from the shock, could it? Would the situation get worse if she went?

Thinking this, she hesitated and said, ”Would it be bad if I went?”

”No,” Huo Jinnan saw the battalion commander get in the car from the rearview mirror, turned the direction, and then fell silent. Sitting in the driver’s seat, his thin lips were tightly pressed into a straight line, and he glanced at Huo Qichang who had followed onto the car, his eyes gradually growing colder.

He indeed wanted to see exactly what medicine his grandfather and he were selling in their gourd.

Che Huan felt somewhat nervous and uneasy, seeing the expression on his face, she always felt that something had happened, and she didn’t speak, just wanted to quietly accompany him.

...

Half an hour later, Huo Jinnan took Che Huan’s hand and arrived at the emergency room of the Army Hospital.

The old man, Huo Jinbei, Huo Jinxue, Huo Jinyun, and Gu Jizhou were all there; their gazes fell on the hands Huo Jinnan and Che Huan were closely holding when they saw them.

Huo Jinnan scanned the red light at the emergency room entrance, which was still flashing, a layer of ice forming in his eyes, and turned to look in the direction of the old man without a word.

The old man didn’t make a sound but trembled slightly with the hand holding the cane due to that look, and his gaze shifted slightly away.

Huo Jinnan turned to Che Huan and introduced in a low voice, ”This is my grandfather.”

Che Huan looked towards the old man, ”Hello, grandfather.”

The old man looked at Che Huan, didn’t utter a sound, and the distinct disapproval and dislike were very obviously written on his face.
