Daddy Always Gets Jealous

Huo Jinnan ”hmm”ed once, nodded, and only after the little one and Rong Ma had gone up to the second floor and their figures were out of sight, did he turn to look at Huo Qichang, sitting on the sofa, just smoking, without calling out ”Father.”

In the end, it was Huo Qichang who broke the silence, ”You and Jizhou...”

Huo Jinnan lifted his gaze to glance at Huo Qichang, with a layer of ice forming in the depths of his eyes, ”Don’t mention him.”

Seeing the expression on Huo Jinnan’s face and thinking of Adong, it took Huo Qichang a long time to catch his breath, ”Anan, half a month ago, Che Huan was still legitimately Jizhou’s wife.”

Huo Jinnan took a drag of his cigarette, pinning it between his fingers, looked in Huo Qichang’s direction with a straight line for lips and a faint smile, devoid of any warmth in his eyes, ”Isn’t she divorced? You personally handled it, erasing all records. By the way, I should thank you; this is the first time Commander Huo has ever been so thorough for his son.”

That smile made Huo Qichang feel suffocated, ”So you knew all along? Even I was calculated into this?”

”Is this what you call calculation?”

Huo Jinnan retorted with a question, his gaze suddenly becoming deep and intense.

Huo Qichang remained silent for a long while, not even looking at Huo Jinnan, ”Your grandfather is getting old, Jizhou...”

Huo Jinnan lowered his eyes, a hint of sadness flashed through them, and he flicked his cigarette ash heavily, staring at the crystal ashtray on his finger. Under the crystal lamp’s illumination, it seemed to emit a blinding light, uncomfortably squinting his eyes, ”If you’ve come to talk about this, I don’t want to listen.”

”Anan, I’ve arranged your engagement with Miss Fang’s family, with the engagement ceremony set for a week from now, and you are to wed within a month.”

Huo Qichang spoke heavily, feeling a tightness in his chest. He didn’t want it to come to this, but there was no other way out at this point.

Huo Jinnan lifted his gaze, glanced at Huo Qichang, and laughed scornfully as he stood up and headed straight for the second floor, ”Uncle Lu, see the guest out.”

Upon hearing the words ”see the guest out,” Huo Qichang sat there with a dark expression, watching Huo Jinnan’s retreating figure with complicated emotions.

Uncle Lu approached, looking in Huo Qichang’s direction, ”Master.”

Huo Qichang didn’t wish to trouble Uncle Lu and stood up, exiting the house.

After closing the door, Uncle Lu turned and cast a glance back toward the second floor, remembering the first time he met Miss Che. Back then, he never imagined things would turn out this way, let alone that the young master’s biological mother was Miss Che.

If the master insisted on marrying Miss Che, the opposition from the old master and the patriarch would likely lead to an uncontrollable situation!

...

Returning to the bedroom and lying on the bed, Huo Jinnan picked up his phone and glanced at it, calling Che Huan, ”Asleep?”

Che Huan, having finished her nightly routine and just climbed into bed with Wen Nuan, got out from under the covers and headed to the bathroom upon receiving the call, closing the door behind her, ”Not yet, did you go back?”

Huo Jinnan ”hmm”ed once.

Che Huan, thinking of her daughter and how the relationship between him and her was not clear yet, due to the presence of her uncle and aunt, and it wasn’t appropriate to directly go to his place, felt a warmth in her heart, ”So, will we meet tomorrow?”

”Miss me?”

Huo Jinnan removed his tie, tossing it onto the bed, his slender fingers touching the collar of his shirt to unbutton it.

Hearing his excessively sensual voice, Che Huan felt a different kind of sensation well up in her chest, ”You..., do you have plans tomorrow?”

”No, I’ll pick you up at eight in the morning.”

”Okay.”

After a pause, Che Huan couldn’t help asking, ”Will I be able to see my daughter tomorrow?”

Huo Jinnan took off his shirt, hanging it on the solid wood hanger beside him, ”Bring your ID card and household registration book, and I’ll let you see her.”
