Chapter 1555: Chapter 42: Shining (Part 4)

It must be noted, this is during wartime! The president’s power far surpasses that of peacetime!

Even though the recent presidential candidate in Feiyang is rising in support, the presidential election in Feiyang is still a year away. The prestige of Francis and his control over the Feiyang political arena over the years cannot be shaken by that candidate!

Francis, Hastings, these two people, like two towering mountains, are insurmountable.

The members present, although most want Hastings sidelined to vote for the interests they represent, the United Parliament still consists of the Lower House composed of representatives from major member countries. Among them, there are many loyal supporters of Francis and Hastings.

Without the certainty of victory, confronting the president and Military God Hastings of the Alliance Leader Country is, in any view, unwise.

Unless.......

Some council members exchanged glances and suddenly felt a chill creep over them.

Bam, the door of the oval meeting room was pushed open, and an aide to a Beijia Republic council member hurriedly walked to his boss’s side, leaned down, and whispered a few words.

Immediately afterward, footsteps merged into one, as aides from various countries stormed into the meeting hall.

Such a situation is rare in meetings of the Upper House of the Fei Alliance Joint Congress. Except for major emergencies, these well-trained aides would never intrude.

As aides murmured by the ears of the council members, an invisible shockwave suddenly spread.

The speaking Feiyang council member quietly sat in his position. In the faces of those who were already informed, he saw boundless shock.

Many council members even stood up in astonishment.

The Feiyang council member lowered his head, clenching his hands tightly. Although his aide hadn’t arrived yet, he could roughly guess what had happened.

Only he knew the plan devised and led by Barbara.

The horrifying plan should have succeeded; the timing was a bit early, but this was normal. Such shadowy affairs never operate with clockwork precision.

The important thing is, that person.....

That will do it!

He leaned quietly against the chair back, his heart uncontrollably racing. His back was already soaked with sweat.

He waited, waiting for some knowledgeable and savvy council members to first pass his proposal. After knowing the news, the council members should understand that no one can stand in front of this formation. No one!

However, for a long time, no one pressed the approval button.

Just when this council member noticed something amiss, his delayed aide finally rushed into the conference room, sweaty and hurrying to his side.

”Sir,” the aide gasped, ”Just received news that the Chuckna military announced that the Bandit Army Fleet has completely annihilated the Jiepeng Dragon Rider Fleet, killing the Jiepeng General Auben.”

”What?!” The council member turned pale with horror, abruptly standing up.

At this critical moment, he knew better than anyone what the news from the Southeast Star Domain meant for everything they had painstakingly planned!

The bandit army, isn’t it the militia strongly supported by Hastings?!

How could they have defeated Auben?!

It is foreseeable, when this news spreads throughout the Fei Alliance, what kind of reaction the public will have!

The fall of a great general, the One-eyed Python Auben, would drive the public far more insane than the annihilation of several Western Alliance fleets. Not just the public, but also militaries across countries! Their hatred for Auben had reached a level of worshipping the one who killed him!

Moreover, the third reinforcement of Alliance forces to the Resk Star System is imminent; the Vanguard Fleet might already have entered Resk.

If the Alliance forces score another great victory, the whole Fei Alliance will be in frenzy!

At that time, the names of Hastings stationed in the Southeast Star Domain and the emergent bandit army will shine in the Fei Alliance!

The council member stood disoriented in place.

Beside him were faces filled with complex expressions.

The entire oval conference hall was deadly quiet. Faintly, they seemed to have heard the cheers sweeping across the city sky.
