Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 199: Revised: Volume 4 Chapter 4 Mecha Hidden Danger

George had a very strong sense of time. As soon as it hit six o’clock in the afternoon, he promptly pushed open Fatty’s research room door. As soon as the door opened, George saw an enraged Fatty, shaking all over, clutching a report and furiously throwing it on the table, standing up angrily and shouting, ”This is a crime! This is outright crime! This is negligence towards the lives of Imperial Soldiers! This is gross dereliction of duty!”

Fatty was indignant, righteous, and imposing, putting on airs. George couldn’t help but walk into the room and ask curiously, ”Zhang, what’s wrong?”

Fatty, puffing with anger, picked up the report he had thrown on the table and waved it around, saying, ”Those idiots in the core experimental lab, are they even mechanics? How could they not see such a serious flaw? Once this Mecha goes into production, it will not only cause unimaginable losses to the Empire, but more importantly, it will lead to our soldiers being brutally killed by the enemy due to mechanical failures at critical moments!”

”Oh, is what you’re saying true?” George’s face turned serious. The Imperial Army’s Mecha experimental lab was meticulously built by the Royal Family, gathering the new generation of top Imperial Mecha Designers and Mechanics. In the talent development plan, these people are the future leaders in the design of Imperial military equipment. Among them were not only several graduates from Tanville Military Academy, but also representatives who had returned with foreign experience, and more than a dozen Mecha experts and professors leading the charge. Judging by Fatty’s demeanor, this mistake must be significant. It was something the Royal Family and the Imperial Army could not tolerate or accept!

The last design of [Vajra] was a mistake. The Imperial lab focused too much on hybrid power design, neglecting the consideration for the Mecha’s overall structure and balance, causing the production line of [Vajra] built with heavy investment to almost become a pile of waste. Not only did [Vajra] face the fate of being phased out, but it also directly impacted the Imperial Army’s combat effectiveness!

Had it not been for the Holy Knight Company’s timely intervention in [Vajra]’s modification, converting [Vajra] from a Human-shaped Mecha to a Beast-shaped Mecha, compensating for the inherent flaws of the Mecha, the Imperial Army’s year-long training would have been wasted, and the production line couldn’t have resumed. Recently, during the Freedom Front’s attack, the Imperial Army was able to quickly deploy and maintain combat effectiveness, all thanks to the modification proposal put forward by Fatty!

So what has Fatty discovered this time?

George’s mind raced as he quickly stepped forward and asked, ”What’s going on?”

Fatty angrily pointed at the design drawings and said, ”This Human-shaped Mecha’s structure is similar to [Hurricane], but I’m not the core designer, so I can’t see the detailed structural drawings. However, their design for the leg’s shock-absorbing suspension device is fundamentally unreasonable. Considering the design weight of this Mecha, single-arm suspension is inherently less reliable than double-arm suspension, plus...” Fatty pointed to a set of data, pushing the report in front of George: ”Look at this, the durability and strength of this material are completely unsuitable for use in the suspension device!”

George, who was also a Mecha enthusiast and quite familiar with Mechas, looked carefully and said, puzzled, ”Many private Mecha suspension devices use this material, the new RH24-105 alloy. Its strength seems fine.”

Fatty looked at George in astonishment until George felt uneasy. Then Fatty spoke in a tone of disbelief: ”No problem? Do you know how much the new design of this Human-shaped Mecha weighs? Sixty-six tons!” Fatty waved his hand, portraying a strict scientist, strongly condemning the careless attitude: ”Do you understand the concept of sixty-six tons? At over two hundred kilometers per hour in the wilderness, what kind of pressure does this exert on the legs? Can general private Mechas weighing less than forty tons compare to this?”

Fatty placed the report back on the table and sneered, ”Ordinary soldiers operating such Mechas wouldn’t notice any problems within one or two years. Hey, the Imperial Army soldiers operating the Mechas during routine low-speed training wouldn’t see any issues. But on the battlefield, as soon as a high-pressure, high-speed maneuver exceeds two hundred and thirty kilometers per hour, this Mecha’s suspension would be destroyed!”

George was stunned and said blankly, ”Are you serious?”

Fatty didn’t answer, and George didn’t ask further because he saw that Fatty’s face had lost its usual naive look. In the field of Mechas, this Fatty exuded an inexplicable arrogance. George had seen this expression on many faces before, and without exception, these people were true experts, specialists in their fields. They were stubborn and proud, never yielding in their area of expertise. They might be naive in other aspects, but in their field, they were like gods, unquestionable!

George laughed heartily, patting Fatty on the shoulder, ”Don’t be angry, I just casually asked, I believe you! Leave this matter to me; I’ll handle it!” He seemed to have forgotten the reason for his visit to Fatty, grabbing the report and bolting out excitedly, unable to hide his enthusiasm. After all, he had been worrying about how to make Fatty more significant in the Imperial Army. Reinhardt valued Bonnie, the commander of the first regiment, very much. With a strong left arm, the right arm had always been empty. Though the other regiment commanders were each top experts, they weren’t the right arm. Instead of waiting for Reinhardt to find one, George figured it was better to insert one himself. Now, Fatty was the best candidate!
