Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 198: Volume 4 Chapter 3 Arrangement_3

Fatty shook his head confusedly and sighed, ”No matter his character, knowledge, or breeding, Prince George is truly exceptional. It’s a blessing to befriend him and learn something. I really don’t understand why the Prince treats you so well, yet you keep avoiding him. Could it be...” Fatty’s eyes were filled with suspicion, ”your sexual orientation is...”

”Smack!” A book flew onto Fatty’s face.

Seeing Christina continue packing without saying another word, having just packed books and now stuffing a fruit knife into a small bag, Fatty turned his head away. Life is precious, don’t sacrifice it needlessly.

Christina quickly ran off, and Fatty smiled slightly. Sometimes, without women around, men are more likely to speak their minds, and friendships grow faster. Men together often bond over three drinks, pledging brotherhood and loyalty, but such behavior is often just for show when women are present. Thus, it’s better to make them leave on their own. In the future, he and George wouldn’t just be reveling drinking buddies; Fatty needed a friendship that George couldn’t easily forget!

Ever since the dance party ended, George had become a persistent Liu Bei. Originally, a researcher in the peripheral laboratory of the Mythical Army wasn’t worth such effort from George. However, since Fatty had impressed George at the dance party by flattering him, then shone brightly at subsequent parties with his graceful etiquette and brilliant dance moves, aristocrats who loved dance parties felt a mix of surprise and envy. Regardless of whether Fatty was noble or not, he had already won over many aristocrats for whom dance parties were the greatest pleasure in life. His performance at the dance parties made him appear more noble, suave, and traditional than many aristocrats.

George felt that spending time on such an interesting talent wasn’t demeaning. Moreover, Fatty wasn’t just Christina’s friend, he was a master of mechanical modifications and highly valued by Reinhardt in the Mythical Army. George understood better than anyone the standing of the newly established Mecha research lab in Reinhardt’s mind. This almost obsessively science-revering Mythical Army Commander would seriously consider every suggestion from the lab’s top scientists!

Talented people are hard to find. Hence, George willingly spent a lot of time to win over and corrupt Fatty. Especially after attending a few friends’ dance parties with Fatty, Fatty had become a dance party star. Many aristocrats, interested in Fatty’s demonstrated etiquette and dazzling dance moves at these parties, tried to make friends with him.

George was pleased that his acquaintances gained widespread approval from aristocrats. He didn’t realize that this was entirely orchestrated by Fatty’s clever tricks, sparking his interest. The reason these aristocrats humbled themselves was largely seeing George and Fatty inseparable, and making a small investment in the fox beside the tiger.

Of course, there were many malicious individuals as well. Fatty had already begun to be embroiled in the whirlpool of the Gazalin Royal Family’s succession battle. Especially recently, Fatty almost felt that wherever he went, multiple pairs of eyes were firmly fixed on him. For a regular researcher to be under surveillance, apart from Bruce, who else could it be?

Fatty checked the time, pulled up a blueprint on his computer, then scattered numerous data documents chaotically on the table. Holding one of them preparedly, he wanted George to see an angry scientist dealing with the flaws of new Mecha designed for the Mythical Army core research lab’s rookies when he pushed open his office door.

Only by entering the core lab step by step, becoming its number one core, and taking charge of Mecha development could he better ensure his safety! Only then could he reduce the chances of George sacrificing him as a pawn at critical moments and make Reinhardt willing to offend anyone for his sake.

After all, the ones he was about to offend were the two Princes of the Gazalin Royal Family.

This Chapter is 800 words longer, apologies to everyone. With the peak season arriving, I have hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of goods to handle within the next week or two. These past two days, the only thing I want to do upon returning home is sleep. Forcing myself to write a few words, but I’m not satisfied. The goods are almost dealt with; updates should gradually accelerate.
