Chapter 168: Volume 3 Chapter 52 Mecha Review_3

Hamid’s usually serious face showed a rare smile: ”The situation in the Galileo Star System already speaks volumes. Whether it’s facing the Federation’s new warships or their powerful transportation capabilities, the Gazalin Empire is at a loss. Their days of defeat are not far off.”

”In terms of national strength, that’s indeed the case.” Russell walked to the window and gazed at the academy’s back mountain: ”But, don’t forget they still have Liebgoet. The Lucerne battle has just begun, and it seems he is conserving his strength. Such opponents always pull unexpected moves at critical moments. We must be vigilant.”

”But, you have also made a great move, haven’t you?”

”Yes, this is a piece far from the main battle.”

Russell’s face was filled with anticipation: ”A piece that, at a critical moment, can change the course of the whole game!”

On the day of the Military Department’s review, Tian Xingjian was promoted. He got a new contract and the position of Deputy Chief of the Technical Department. Everyone in the company could see a chubby guy with a radiant face, beaming with joy.

[Vajra] was sealed into a box and hauled by a giant truck straight to North Building 2 of the Military Department. This was the venue for the expert evaluation, as well as the headquarters of the [Mythical Army]. To prepare for the review, Holy Knight Company sent a technical team of ten people, along with hundreds of documents and a complete series of data.

For Christina, this was a battle that allowed no room for error.

The Mythical Army was organized as a division and stationed at a base between the Military Department and the Imperial Palace. In a way, the Mythical Army was closer to the core of the Empire. They were directly governed by the Royal Family, and the Military Department could only issue orders to them through the Royal Family. Aside from the Emperor’s handwritten orders, the Mythical Army did not accept commands from anyone.

Legion Commander Reinhardt was born into the Gazalin hereditary nobility and was highly trusted by James. Within the entire Gazalin political system, he stood independently and held a high position. Even the once-dominant great General Russell was on equal footing with Reinhardt.

Now, this 35-year-old Legion Commander was smiling as he stood at the entrance of North Building 2, welcoming the experts arriving for the review. If not for his unique uniform and Admiral insignia on his shoulder, no one would believe that this tall, handsome, and amiable nobleman, always wearing a graceful smile, was the Empire’s only Level 9 Mecha Warrior, the commander of the most mysterious and powerful Mythical Army, Reinhardt.

Seeing the experts arriving in cars marked with the Mythical Army’s emblem, Reinhardt enthusiastically went forward, shook hands with Mitchell, the dean of the Mechanical Design Institute at Tanville Military University, and said repeatedly: ”Welcome, welcome, old professor. It has been hard on you.”

Mitchell, who had worked with Reinhardt many times and was very familiar with him, smiled and said: ”People talk about respecting the wise and modest; General Reinhardt, you are indeed a model among the Empire’s leaders. Every time we come here, the first person we see is always you, greeting us at the door. Just for this, no amount of hardship is a concern to us!”

The experts standing behind Mitchell nodded in agreement and praised him endlessly.

Reinhardt laughed heartily and said: ”You are all my elders; I dare not forget my manners even for a moment. Moreover, you are the Empire’s precious talents, the people I respect the most, so coming to welcome you is only natural. Hearing you say this makes me quite ashamed. The autumn wind is strong; gentlemen, please come inside.”

”Please.”

The group, in a harmonious atmosphere, talking and laughing, had just reached the entrance when they heard the roar of giant trucks approaching. One after another, giant trucks followed the guiding path and drove into the Mythical Army’s headquarters. The modified mechas from three repair companies had arrived together.

Seeing this scene, Reinhardt couldn’t help but pause. These three civilian mecha companies were the largest in the Empire, with strong technical capabilities in the civilian modification industry. This was the first time they were modifying such military special-type mechas, and it was uncertain what the outcome would be. Reinhardt felt some anticipation, as the civilian world also hid many talented individuals, and perhaps some worthy of investment would emerge.

Watching the three giant trucks slowly drive in sequence into the underground mecha testing field’s passage, Reinhardt exchanged smiles with the experts and together they walked into Building 2.

Fatty, looking around nervously, followed closely behind Christina, like a country bumpkin entering the city. The architecture of the Gazalin Empire was very different from that of the Federation, especially in the central area where the Imperial Palace was located. The buildings were rich in the Gothic style of Ancient Earth, robust, simple, yet grand and magnificent. Known for their pointed and towering structures, tall and slender windows, elaborate carvings, and vast interior spaces, along with exquisite sculptures and walls covered in ivy, the entire Tanville central area was filled with the European style of the 13th century Ancient Earth.

Led by an officer, they walked through long arched corridors, then took an elevator down to the Mythical Army’s No. 1 Mecha Testing Field.

In the field, the three giant trucks were already parked under their respective company name plaques. The sealed boxes remained unopened, while the experts were already seated with solemnity on the observation platform, waiting for the modification teams to arrive and start the review officially.

The engineers from the three civilian mecha companies exchanged glances, their expressions complex. This mission was the most challenging they had ever faced. Although previous mechas they dealt with had higher confidentiality levels, those tasks were only to help improve private mechas. This time, they not only had to find the mecha’s flaws but also propose practical modification plans that didn’t involve significant structural changes and carry out the actual modifications.
