Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 171: Revised: Volume 3, Chapter 53: Mecha Research Lab_2

Mecha modification is not the same as mecha manufacturing. It involves transforming the original model, which sometimes can be even harder than designing a new mecha from scratch. The modification difficulty of this [Vajra] exceeds that of manufacturing because of its stringent requirements. It must not alter the structure and affect mass production, yet it must meet demands for control inertia, protection for chest and back, and enhanced starting explosive power. Using existing equipment to perform the best and most cost-effective modification is the real meaning of modification.

In terms of modification, this [Vajra] is simply perfect and impeccable!

Especially concerning control, protection, explosive power, stability, and balance, the data of this mecha has been raised by half a grade compared to previous human-shaped mechas! So many key data improvements in itself are a miracle!

You must know, [Vajra] was originally designed for the Mythical Army, and the technology used represents the pinnacle of the Gazalin Empire. At such a level, improving it further is extremely difficult! The modifier needs to have a very deep understanding of the mecha to choose better and more suitable components for enhancing the mecha’s performance during modification. Otherwise, it might backfire, decreasing the original performance and even damaging other parts.

The reason the Salodi Company worked on the internal modifications of the mecha is precisely because of this. Increasing data is the best indication of the modification level of a mecha. However, the data they improved were not the key data. This shows that ordinary modification is already difficult enough, not to mention transforming a human-shaped mecha into a beast-shaped one and achieving such astonishing data.

[Vajra] is a new type of mecha developed by over twenty military laboratories of the Gazalin Empire, specifically targeted at the Mythical Army. Initially, this human-shaped mecha, which prominently features close-combat capabilities, received unanimous praise from the Mythical Soldiers due to its far superior performance compared to [Demon Tiger] and over twenty new designs. The Empire invested a considerable amount of funds, attempting to establish a production line. Unexpectedly, when the production line was built, the problems of the mecha gradually became apparent. Originally, these exposed issues weren’t too severe; after all, there is no perfect mecha in this world. However, after [Vajra] was captured by the Federation, the issues became fatal.

For the Mythical Army, the Empire spent substantial manpower and resources from the development to the production of [Vajra]. The soldiers of the Mythical Army were just getting accustomed to operating this mecha and forming combat readiness. At this tense stage of the war, changing mechas is exceedingly difficult. Not to mention the considerable effort, developing a special type mecha from research to production takes too long.

Reinhardt strode in front of the beast-shaped [Vajra] excitedly. He could instantly discern the power contained in this mecha. If the data is real, it’s simply the best gift from the Heavenly God to the Mythical Army! Without any hesitation, he demanded from Dell, ”Give me the controller, I want to experience it myself!”

Seeing Dell hesitate, Christina took the controller from his hand and handed it to Reinhardt, smiling confidently, ”This mecha’s data is just the result of ten days of work.”

Reinhardt’s eyes lit up. He understood Christina’s meaning; clearly, this mecha must have been tested. They didn’t fudge the data; instead, with more time, the modification of this mecha could be even more refined, and its performance also more reliable. He started the mecha hatch with the remote control and eagerly sat inside.

The crowd dispersed. With a gentle ”buzz” sound, the mecha’s engine started. The retracted limbs extended under the support of the hydraulic system, instantly elevating the entire mecha nearly two meters higher than its resting state, making it appear even more imposing! Rapid start, running, spinning, attacking, each move flowed like water. Fatty stared at the [Vajra] in awe, trembling slightly, wondering if he would still be standing here if he had encountered this fellow before.

The data sent by Russell showed that this guy is the Gazalin Empire’s only Level 9 Mecha Warrior. Unlike Carl’s ”Mechanical Warrior Ranking”, these rankings are within national militaries. There are only over sixty Level 9 Mechanical Warriors and thirteen Level 10 Mechanical Warriors in human society. Fatty watched Reinhardt’s control, thinking to himself, ”Damn, what level am I exactly. Level 8.5? Anyway, I’m not as good as this guy.”

At the moment when the mecha engine started, the detection computer on the observation platform simultaneously began operating. Dozens of data collection devices flew around [Vajra] like bees, gathering every movement data. Every action Reinhardt made was faithfully recorded and analyzed by the computer.

Ten minutes later, [Vajra] stopped. Reinhardt jumped out of the cockpit excitedly and walked over to Christina with a smile, putting the controller into his pocket in front of her. Sincerely, he said, ”Christine, I have to say, this mecha is simply a masterpiece!”

The mechanics from Holy Knight Company standing beside Christina cheered excitedly. With Reinhardt’s words, the judgment on this mecha modification was concluded. Success! The hard work of ten days finally paid off at this moment, and everyone couldn’t help but celebrate joyously.
