Chapter 153: Volume 3 Chapter 44 Christina_2

”Spitting...” Stephen laughed heartily and said, ”What a clown, indeed. So fat, drunk, a clear sign of lack of self-control. As a student of Russell and an Army Lieutenant, he has the audacity to spit on an Admiral. Such a person can only be described as foolish.” He relaxed, finding the fact that he had gotten angry at such a person amusing now.

However, thinking about the rebuke he received from his father, James, this morning, wiped the smile off Stephen’s face again. Russell and the clown he controlled made a mockery of him in the lecture recording. They harped on the landing campaign, putting all the blame on him, while not mentioning a word about Liebgoet, who was truly responsible for the entire strategic deployment. It was as if the Gazalin military losing the Lucerne defense battle was entirely due to his own mistakes.

What made Stephen both angry and helpless was that the recording broadcast his failure to the whole world, portraying him as an overambitious clown with little ability. Meanwhile, Emperor James would only see Liebgoet as his teacher and the fact that he brought him back to take over the command. This burden was unbearably significant, and he couldn’t openly state that all the plans were formulated by his teacher, Liebgoet, nor could he make a powerful counter-argument against the strategic analyses in the recording in front of James.

In any case, the analyses in the recording were completely correct; only, the target of the blame should not have been him, but Liebgoet.

Ritter looked at Stephen’s gloomy face without a word. He understood Stephen’s feelings very well. In the struggle for the throne, even with the help of the Howard family, Stephen was at an absolute disadvantage. This war was Stephen’s best chance.

Gordon’s departure had already paved the way for Stephen to take charge of the Military Department, an opportunity given by James, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Now what was missing was victory, timely victories!

If a few timely victories could be secured, then the Military Department, which leaned towards the Prince, would overturn itself thoroughly amidst those victories, under the looming threat of the impending purge. If he remained idle before the purge, James would not hesitate to kick Stephen out and take direct control of the purged Military Department himself. At that point, Stephen would lose the qualifications to compete for the throne completely.

Ritter silently sighed. What Stephen, who had been at a disadvantage since birth, seemed to lack was a bit of luck. Looking at it now, it seemed like Prince George, who always stayed aside living a debauched life, was the smartest. Not fighting was sometimes more effective than actively fighting.

Stephen clenched his fists. He was not the designated heir to the throne, so there was no choice but to compete proactively, even if it meant betting his life. This was his only fate, being born into the Gazalin Royal Family.

Victory is king, defeated are the bandits!

Following the electronic navigation instructions, Fatty drove [Logic] through the bustling Tanville City, along the Sixteenth Avenue, and arrived at a large private mechanical repair company in Tanville West District. This company named Holy Knight had a big repair factory and two repair docks, able to undertake modifications and repairs for private mechas, flying cars, and civilian transport ships.

This was the secret base of the Freedom Front in Tanville. Among over a thousand staff members, more than sixty were the most loyal Freedom Front soldiers who had been rigorously vetted. They had been hiding here for many years, blending in perfectly. They had their own families and jobs here, living like all the lower-class people working in the repair company, strictly adhering to the racial hierarchy system, accepting adversity and living the ordinary lives a lower-class person should lead.

Tian Xingjian would use the identity of Zhang Yuan, a junior mechanic, to enter this company. In a civilian mechanical repair company, the more mechanics, the better. As a descendant of the noble race Chuckna, it was a piece of cake for Zhang Yuan to join such a company.

Slowing the car to a stop in the parking lot in front of the reception hall of the Holy Knight repair company, Fatty jumped out of the car, raised his head to look at the building in front of him. The convex-character shaped building had a metal framework structure, with ultra-light glass curtain walls glowing under the sunlight. In the center of the building was an elliptical automatic door, and outside the columns of the corridor stood over twenty classic private mecha models.

On the left side of the building, in a field about a kilometer wide, were dozens of inspection lanes. The automatic inspection stations at the head of each lane would conduct preliminary inspections on the mechas and flying cars waiting to enter the repair workshop and record the customers’ requirements. After passing the automatic inspection station, the mechas would be automatically transmitted to the repair workshop.

On the right side of the building were the two docks with transport ships. On the semicircular dock, over a hundred mechanics and numerous mechanical arms and autonomous machines were working busily. The sounds of laser cutting, welding, and the bustling autonomous machines filled the air.

As Fatty walked into the reception center, a pretty receptionist in uniform greeted him with a professional smile on her face, ”Hello sir, I am Christina, the receptionist here. How may I assist you? I am more than happy to help.”

Fatty grinned and said, ”I am here for a job application. Here are my papers.” As he spoke, he handed over his mechanic qualification certificate, ID card, and other personal documents to the receptionist named Christina.

Christina gave a graceful smile, but didn’t take his documents. Instead, she slightly bowed and said, ”Job applications need to be handled by the personnel supervisor in the Repair Department. Please wait for a moment, I will call the department.”

Fatty nodded and said, ”Thank you for the trouble.” Watching Christina gracefully sway her voluptuous hips as she walked to the reception desk to make the call, Fatty clicked his tongue in admiration, then turned around to examine the row of modified mechas displayed in the hall.

He had to admit, the level of mecha modification at Holy Knight was far superior to that of Miloke’s Invincible Center. Invincible Center always tried to combine the latest, most advanced components, not realizing that compatibility was the most important aspect of mecha modification. Especially the fit between the original design concept and the mecha structure, the most powerful engine wasn’t necessarily the best. Installing new engine circuits in old engines might even cause adverse effects. The same applied to other parts.

The modification of this [Caelo] Beast-shaped Mecha in front of him was quite clever. The mechanic installed a high-power engine to enhance its power, but since this type of engine took up the space for the electronic stabilizer, the mechanic simply removed the electronic stabilizer and added outdated, but highly suitable swinging mechanical stabilizers to the limbs of the beast-shaped mecha. This brilliant idea raised the overall performance of this mecha to a whole new level. Such modification was truly impressive.

After Christina hung up the phone and saw the job applicant mechanic with his hands held behind his back, carefully examining the least noticeable [Caelo] among the row of modified mechas, she couldn’t help but be stunned for a moment, a sparkle flashed in her eyes. After a while, a personnel supervisor from the Repair Department walked swiftly to Christina, whispered, ”Miss Christina, which applicant you mentioned?” Christina placed her slender finger on her lips, made a hushing gesture, and quietly pointed to Tian Xingjian, who was closely observing [Caelo]. The personnel supervisor understood immediately, observed for a while with a delighted smile, and whispered, ”Miss, congratulations, you have found another gem.”
