Chaos Devourer System: My Classless Ascension

Chapter 76: Chapter 75:

What is your relationship to that little fella, I think he said his name was... ah yes”..

”Regulus... Regulus Von Draken, who is he to you?”

The question struck me like a freight train, my mind stalling for a few seconds....

”You...you knew my father?”....

I was shocked..

The last thing I expected when coming into this test was to hear anything about my old..

Much less from what should’ve essentially been a dungeon monster...

”How...??”

”Bahahahahahahaha...”the hulking knight laughed..

I was too shocked to be bothered with whatever was going on within me..

Let handle that, for now, I needed answers..

”Knew him? Boy... we trained that little fella...”

Okay... pause...

Trained? My dad? These death contraptions? What?

Hell, since when were dungeon monsters even supposed to be autonomous enough to have wills, unless I’d been thinking too one dimensional about the tower of ascension..

”I can hear the gears in your head turning boy... and I would’ve loved to enlighten you, but unfortunately, our time is limited” the dullahan spoke up..

”So before we continue this little task of ours, a proper introduction is due, no?” The knight straightened itself, raising his massive sword and resting it on his shoulder..

”I am Mormon Du Mont, First sword of Death....”

”I am, Omari Du Mont, First rider of Death...”

They introduced themselves...

Yet before I could wrap my head around everything, they said something even more absurd than everything else I’d heard today..

”But you little fella ..” the knight pointed the massive great sword at me, ”you can call us Grandpa”.....

My brain short circuited...

”Wha..what??” Just what the fuck was I hearing right now?

First my old man seemed to be acquainted with dungeon monsters..

Then I hear they trained him..

Now they’re telling me to call them grandpa?

”Like fuck hell I will!” I blurted out before I could stop myself..

”Bahahahaha...” they laughed...

”I can understand your confusion little one.. but unfortunately, I cannot clear them for you” the dullahan, Omari, spoke up..

”If you’re able to survive this and arrive at the real tower, I am sure we’ll meet again, by then, all will be made clear” he concluded..

”But for now, little one, try to survive” the moment those words landed...

A gigantic lance tore through my midsection before my brain could even register the motion. it was like the concept of distance didn’t exist..

My lower body disintegrated, my upper body blasting backwards as screamed into action, rejecting my fate, another 30,000CE being consumed...

”Shit...” I hadn’t even gotten the words out before a massive greatsword had already severed my newly acquired body into two, the severed parts blasting outwards in two different directions..

Another 30,000CE saw me reforming instantly, the consumption showing just how much inevitability I had been rejecting..

Now, the sequence of events seemed to take a lot of time to describe, but they all happened in less than an instant...

I’d always been proud of my speed, claiming to ”manifest” before those who couldn’t comprehend the speeds I moved at..

It wasn’t until now that I realized just how foolish I’d been..

The two stopped after that, they merely ”looked” at me..

”Shit...” my CE was dangerously low, I couldn’t afford another hit like that...

”You’re going to die if you continue trying to hold back” the knight said gravely..

”I know that goddamit”

I knew I was going to lose if I didn’t do something quick..

I’d already lost the chance to take advantage of my with the amount of CE I had now, I wouldn’t be able to cause significant damage before running out..

And I very much doubted I could actually cause that much damage without something extreme...

There was only one way out...

Devour...

A familiar black miasma drifted out of me..

The darkness of Chaos being inherently different from that of death, mine was an IRREFUTABLE DARKNESS..

It was ALL CONSUMING!!

”Screw devouring death, I just need the energy converted from it..”

Once I stopped trying to devour the concept of death itself, the ability finally kicked in..

I could feel my energy reserves rising...

”Ohh? Interesting... very interesting..” the dullahan mused..

I wasn’t listening..

These..I had no idea what to call them.. seemed intent on giving me a way out..

Maybe they were right about being close to my old man..

’Heh..dungeon monsters for grandparents? Old man just what did you get up to during your youth?’

I scraped the thought away, now wasn’t the time..

They were giving me an opportunity, I’d be damned if I didn’t take it...

So for the first time since I got it, I finally used the ability I’d probably been most excited about..

Description:- The user becomes a living vessel for the primordial essence of the Sun. Your body no longer simply exists within the world; it becomes a gravitational anchor for solar radiation, converting light into absolute, unrefined power.

[PASSIVE STATE: Helios Resonance]

• Condition: Activates automatically when the user is exposed to natural sunlight or high-intensity stellar radiation.

• Effect:

• Infinite Kinetic Stacking. For every second the user remains in the sun, their physical stats (Strength, Agility, Endurance) and mana density increase by 1%

• Limitless: There is no conceptual upper limit to this growth. As long as the user’s physical vessel (Physique) can withstand the heat and internal pressure, the power will continue to climb toward infinity.

[ACTIVE STATE: Sovereign Solarium]

• Condition: Activated manually when the sun is obstructed, absent, or during night-tim..

• Effect:

• Artificial Dawn: The user forcibly manifests a miniature, high-density sun in the local atmosphere. This ”Second Sun” acts as a catalyst, triggering the [Helios Resonance] passive at 5x the normal speed.

• Solar Dominion: While the Sovereign Solarium is active, all ”Darkness” based laws in the surrounding 500 meters are forcibly suppressed or incinerated.

Cost: Maintaining a literal star requires a terrifying amount of energy. It drains 100,000 MP per second, increasing exponentially the longer it is held. If the user’s energy hits zero, the star collapses, causing a localized supernova that damages the user..

Yes, it was absolutely broken.

It was an ability that made one a menace during the day and even at Night, so long as you could bear the costs...

Now, against someone like me with an unfair talent like it hadn’t had the opportunity to shine when Micheal tried to use it in its passive state, as for its active state?I doubted he very much could with those absurd costs..

But now? Now I was going to make it proud..

A miniature sun bloomed in what would’ve passed as the sky of the room..

It’s brilliant golden rays shining down, chasing the gloomy darkness away...

A hissing sound ringing out as the aura of death seemed to have met its nemesis..

The moment the sun’s rays touched my body, I could feel my blood roar in excitement..

My body took on a golden sheen, my white hair gaining a rich golden tint..

My already tall and imposing figure grew, taller, more muscular, more compact..

I didn’t stop growing until I was standing at a towering 10ft tall, no longer needing to look up when conversing with the monsters before me..

My eyes were a pool of liquid magma, the fiery aura surrounding me burning away the gloomy death fog that had been clinging to me all this while...

I could feel the drain on my CE, but devour made sure I recovered everything lost and more.....

Oh.. but I was far from done..

Far be it from me to make the same mistake twice..

I had learned my lesson about overconfidence. If I was going to hit these ”Grandfathers” of mine, I was going to hit them with the weight of a dying star and the fury of a shattered sky.

Ruuuuumbllleee....
