Chaos Devourer System: My Classless Ascension

Chapter 60: Chapter 59:Valen Wildeheart

”Yahooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!”

”This is the lifeeeeeee!!!!!”

The sound of my voice being carried away by the wooshing wind...

We were currently making our way towards the Supreme City, Helios City, where the overseer Valen, said the tests would begin proper..

Although right now, the test were the last thing on my mind..

”Faster!!!!!!!”

I was currently having the time of my life on the back of this griffon..

I know, I can fly myself, but something about the feeling you get standing atop what you’d only ever believed to be a mythical beast (I know it sounds weird coming from someone who just killed a dragon) but in my defense, dragons were more common fantasy creatures, so seeing one in a fantasy world wasn’t all that much of a culture shock..

A golden griffon on the other hand? Sign me up baby!!!

I’d somehow found my way towards the overseer’s sitting position at the beast’s head..

”Hey.. hey.. hey”

”You’re bothering me”

”I know.. just a quick question..”

”What is it?..”

”Where do I get one of these? Or could you maybe, borrow me yours sometime?” That got his attention alright..

The overseer’s closed eyelids finally opened, his eyes looking at me like I’d just asked to buy his child or something..

”You want to borrow Leo?” I could see the disbelieving expression on his face..

Screeeeeeeeeee....

”Borrow your mother, what do you think I am? A commodity??”

The griffon’s disgruntled screech made it clear I’d said something I shouldn’t..

”Huh?? Ohh, sorry buddy, I didn’t mean it that way..”

Screeeeeeee....screeeee..

”I’ll forgive you this time, now stop asking dumb questions, I’m not going anywhere”

”Come on, you can’t tell me you prefer some stuck up old guy to my divine self right?”

And just like that I’d forgotten about the old man I was talking to, my attention promptly returning to the beast..

Screee!!

”Father is a hundred times more handsome than you”

”What??? You take that back right now... no way is this dinosaur more good looking than me”

Valen’s face twitched when he heard me calling him a dinosaur...

Before I could continue my heated argument..

”You understand him” valen’s voice stopped me, his words weren’t a question, more a statement..

”Yea, you don’t?” I asked back..

”See, he doesn’t even understand how to speak to you, come on, come on, let’s dump the old guy here, he’ll survive”...

Screeeeee

’Nice try.. humph..’

”Stupid kid”

Screeee

’I heard that..’

”I know”...

”Sigh.... Can you leave? You’re disturbing my meditation”

”Just act like I’m not here, you keep doing what old people do” I waved him off dismissively, going on to perch myself on the creature’s golden beak..

Screeeee

”Get off!”

”Make me..hehehe”

Screeee...

”You’ll regret that”

And so began what was probably the most hectic flight experience any of these guys had ever experienced ...

Helios City, ever a beacon of brilliance, now practically vibrates with an almost palpable energy. The Solarium Spire not only bathes the city in its eternal golden glow but feels like a grand, silent sentinel overseeing the surging tide below. Today, the number of experts within the city were as abundant as clouds in the sky, masters, figures one normally would be hard pressed to see on a any normal day were now out and mingling with a throng unlike any other.

Every tier, every street, every soaring sky-bridge is a river of anticipation. The usually broad avenues, ”grown” from luminescent stone, are now packed shoulder-to-shoulder, their light patterns shifting wildly under the ceaseless foot traffic. A cacophony of languages, excited chatter, and the distant, sonorous calls of street vendors selling glowing refreshments and arcane trinkets fills the air. Gravity-defying airdocks are overflowing, with airships from every corner of the eastern domain jostling for position, their mooring lines taut as passengers spill out, eager to witness the spectacle. Even the usually serene garden plazas are transformed into vibrant marketplaces and gathering points, alive with musicians, street performers showcasing minor enchantments, and impromptu debates breaking out among animated groups.

Look up, and the woven light bridges are not just pathways but viewing platforms, crammed with onlookers pointing towards the grand stage being erected near the base of the Solarium. The air was thick with the scent of exotic spices, celebratory incense, and the faint, excited tang of raw magic. Even the hum that usually pervades the city had now become a deeper thrum, a collective pulse of thousands of hearts beating with shared excitement. Every shadow, usually a place of quiet contemplation, now hides clusters of hushed whispers and eager faces. Helios City, a marvel on any given day, was now a living, breathing celebration, a vibrant tapestry of bodies and souls woven together by the singular, magnetic draw of the event about to unfold.

Watching the bustling city below instilled a sense of awe within me..

The city was unlike anything bright sun could wish to compete with, it was no wonder people kept referring to that place as backwater domain..

It honestly felt like I’d just left a village and finally stepped foot in the city scape..

Screeeee

”Bumpkin”

”I don’t want to hear anything from someone that’s having an identity crisis”..

Screee...

”Bastard! What’d you just say? Take it back”

”Make me!”

And just like that, the argument between me and the griffon, Leo, that’d been paused, resumed to the chagrin of Valen who looked tire of life itself..

”Sigh... leo, take us down”

Screeee

”Alright, father”

”Heh.. that’s a good boy” I couldn’t stop myself from throwing in a jab..

Screeeeeeeeee!!!!!

”Danteeeeeee!!!!!!!”

”Hahahahahahahahahahahha....”

The Solarium Spire doesn’t merely stand; it dominates, a colossal needle of polished white marble and veins of gleaming white-gold, stretching so high its pinnacle is often wreathed in the clouds it helped create. Today, its lower facades, usually a canvas for subtle light-play, are vibrant with banners and projections, intricate patterns of light dancing across its smooth surface, announcing the impending trials. From its base, arcs of pure, shimmering energy occasionally pulse upwards, as if the Spire itself is drawing breath in anticipation.

Directly before this magnificent structure, nestled in the grand plaza that usually serves as a serene gathering point, the event’s stage is taking shape, far more than just a platform. It’s a vast, tiered marvel, constructed from the same luminous, self-repairing stone as the streets, yet imbued with an extra brilliance. At its center, a massive, iridescent crystal glows with a soft, internal light, humming faintly. The stage itself is less a single level and more a series of expansive, interconnected platforms, rising in gentle curves, each capable of hosting hundreds, if not thousands, of participants without feeling cramped.

Most of the platforms already occupied by a sea of what I could assume were fellow participants from alla round the eastern domain, specifically those under the jurisdiction of Helios City...

Around this titanic stage, the plaza stretches out, an enormous, circular expanse of open space specifically designed to house a staggering multitude. This isn’t just a crowd; it’s a living ocean of people. Tens of thousands, maybe even hundreds of thousands, could comfortably gather here, and indeed, they are already doing so. Magically reinforced viewing platforms, temporarily extended from the surrounding buildings, jut out like eager arms, offering elevated perspectives. Security details, comprising elegantly armored guards and robed mages, are subtly integrated into the throng, their presence a quiet assurance amidst the joyous chaos. The air in this grand space is electric, thick with the combined excitement of the multitude, all eyes fixed on the magnificent stage before the even more magnificent Solarium Spire, waiting for history to unfold.

Screeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!

The sound of a magnificent screech from above drew the gazes of everyone below as all heads raised to see just who had arrived...

Leo, a show off at heart, didn’t disappoint.

He flapped his wings, raising a hurricane that swept through the gathered crowd, instantly creating a space of over 50 meters for himself...

With a swoosh, we landed directly on the central platform..

Yes, the jerk didn’t even land where he’d made space...

The platforms rocked gently from the weight.

Slowly, everyone got down, more than a few with a new fear of flight.

I followed, albeit very reluctantly, I could feel stupid things smug gaze on me..

”Lord valen” a group of people approached us swiftly, the starry sky insignia on their robes made their distinction clear.

Aeternum Instructors...

”Hmmm, everyone, how was your trip?” Valen asked, his trademark stoic expression not budging..

”As fruitful as one might expect from these lands” one of the instructors spoke up with barely contained contempt..

Seems these guy’s really didn’t hold us in any regard..

I could see it in their eyes, they didn’t look at us like people at all, merely as some inconvenience..

”Hmm, I expected as much” came Valen’s reply..

”What about you my lord?” Another one asked, voice respectful..

It seems this guy truly didn’t have a simple background at Aeternum..

”Merely so-so, how are the other supervisors?” He asked..

”Word came that they’re all ready, just awaiting your go ahead”

”Good, now let’s get this thing started”..

Saying so, he strode toward the crystal at the center of the platform..

”Welcome, everyone!” He didn’t yell, yet his voice carried throughout the entire plaza..

All around the whole of terra, every display suddenly changed.

Each and every screen now showing Valen’s face..

Nobody was surprised, quite the opposite, they were excited..

”Finally!!!”

”It’s starting!!”

The world immediately sat straight as they tuned into the most anticipated event of the year..

On the screen, Valen’s voice resounded once more..

”My name is Valen Wildeheart, and I am the overseer of the MILLENNIUM AETERNUM ACADEMY TRIALS, so with the authority invested in me, I declare the MILLENNIUM AETERNUM ACADEMY TRIALS, officially open”
