Chaos Devourer System: My Classless Ascension

Chapter 59: Chapter 58:A Freaking Griffon

The two days given to us went by like the summer breeze...

We were currently gathered once more at the city square..

Unsurprisingly, our numbers didn’t diminish even by a single person..

Naturally many were apprehensive due to the man, instructor Valen’s words two days ago, but then again, who would cash in his future off the words of someone that probably held you in contempt?

And so, here we were, hearts beating, palms sweating, the nervous energy in the air was off the charts..

It didn’t help when I’d arrived earlier looking like I’d just come from a massacre..

The smell of blood still thick on my body, the murderous aura surrounding me made sure I had an entire 5 meter radius of space for myself..

I couldn’t be blamed though, I’d spent the last two days in the wasteland, testing out the limits of my evolved talent, the number of monster nests I’d exterminated too many to even bother counting.

As for the results of my experiments? Yea, as of right now, I could proudly say that my talent had no known limits...

I hadn’t tested it on anything at the same level of danger as the evolved Wyvern yet, but I was absolutely certain I could wipe that big lizard out with nothing more than a snort..

Yes. The talent is that absurd.

”Why’s he smiling like that..?

”I don’t know. But better keep your distance, that guy is crazy..”

I could hear whispers around me.

Was I smiling?

I reached out to touch my face, turns out there was a wild manic grin on my face..

”I’m starting to lose my shit aren’t I?” I shook my head helplessly..

Since torturing Micheal two days ago, something seemed to have been unleashed within me.

I don’t know what and my busted system has refused to answer me on anything, so for now, I could only draw a blank..

”It seems you’ve all decided to ignore my words” a masculine voice snapped me out of my thoughts..

I looked up, there, approaching from the direction of the city lord’s mansion, was the overseer valen, his tall broad frame stood ramrod straight, his hands clasped behind his back, the black robe with an endless starry sky- Aeternum’s insignia- flowing freely in the morning wind..

City lord carrion and the ugly faced bitch trailing not far behind and behind them I could spot Micheal, his face was downtrodden and he looked to have not had any form of rest for the past two days..

”It seems you believe my words of no value” valen’s voice sounded out once again, somehow he’d already arrived before me and the others, his face expressionless as he regarded us..

”With all due respect overseer, I believe we’re allowed to make our choices, so you saying we should just quit out of fear is looking down on us a bit too much no?” I could see his face twitch at the sound of my voice..

Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t speak up for these bums, I could care less what they did, I just didn’t want anyone looking down on me..

”If you were going to just discourage and spite us, then why bother yourself at all by coming here? We could’ve very well carried on without your presence”

”INSOLENCE!!!” The ugly faced bitch just had to involve herself..

”You dare speak to lord valen like that?” Her eyes were spitting flames, if looks could kill, I’d be dead a hundred times over by now...

Seems this guy’s status was quite something..

I didn’t care though...

”I’ll speak to whomever I want, however I want..” I wasn’t about to roll over for an ugly looking potato..

”You...”

”Enough!”

Valen’s voice silenced her once more..

His gaze turned towards me as an unamused smile curved his lips..

”So In your words, you believe you have a chance against what’s coming?” He asked.

”You, the one least qualified of everyone here dares to make such bold statements?” His words were calm, factual, not an ounce of contempt just plain disregard..

I wasn’t fazed, in fact, I grinned instead..

”Yes! Yes I do.”

”In case you’ve forgotten, this useless E-rank talent wielder just turned someone with an SS-rank talent and SSS-rank bloodline, into an invalid that doesn’t even dare raise his head in my presence..”

Micheal flinched at the unexpected jab, yet he still couldn’t raise his head, seems I’d succeeded in breaking him..

”Good!”

The staring contest between me and the man, valen, lasted a few seconds before he turned around, ”we shall see if your confidence is grounded by true strength or if it’s just a fools play” his voice reached my ears directly, like he was speaking into them..

I turned around, nothing..

”Was that?” That couldn’t have been voice transmission right?

Before I could ponder further..

”Let’s move, we’re already late” his command woke up the rest of the stunned participants..

They’d frozen in disbelief when I talked back to the overseer and were now only getting pulled out their daze...

*********

We arrived promptly before an unassuming building, the front door looking like it had seen better days..

”Let’s go in” valen walked in ahead of us, The city lord and others following closely behind..

Me and the rest of the participants didn’t dawdle, we swiftly made our way inside...

And what we saw...

”Woah!!”

”Holy!!!...

”This...”

A vast expanse unfurled before us, stretching further than the eye could see. The air was crisp and carried a faint, echoing silence that spoke of its immense scale. Overhead, the ceiling arched like a forgotten sky, punctuated by colossal columns that seemed to touch the distant, shadowy reaches. Light, diffused and ethereal, spilled from unseen sources, painting soft gradients across surfaces that dissolved into a hazy horizon. There was an overwhelming sense of freedom, yet also a profound insignificance within its boundless embrace.

The exclamations of wonder and awe all around me was understandable...

I couldn’t even begin to understand how it was possible for such a unassuming place when looked at from the outside to house such an expansive space..

”Must be space magic bullshit”.. that was the only logical explanation here..

Now, just when I thought I’d been shocked enough today,

Screeeeeechhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!

A deafening screech sounded from the sky, accompanied by a sudden gust of wind that threatened to blow everyone away..

Now, This world was incredibly advanced after all, so it was expected that someone of the overseer’s caliber, would have at least a private jet or something he used to get around with..

That’s what I thought, at least till I laid eyes on the thing before me..

Descending from the skies like a king surveying his subjects..

Over 50 meters long from the tip of its head to its tail..

Was a creature with the body, tail, and hind legs of a lion, and the head, wings, and talons of an eagle.

Yes... you guessed correctly..

It was a motherfucking Griffon...

”Damn... where can I get one?”
