Armed Train in the Apocalypse

”March 14th, 2037, full of life.”

”Exposing some small issues appropriately can cover up bigger mistakes.”

Su Huan knew Yu Jing was hiding something, just like that occasional familiar feeling she gave him.

She also had her own secrets.

If it were six months ago, he’d definitely hang this woman up to dig for answers, but now, the train conductor had learned to fool himself.

Yu Jing was a woman and also his subordinate; since he had given He Jie freedom and respect, he had to be fair to her as well.

But thinking about that tight transformation was quite stress-relieving...

When Su Huan emerged from the lab, the sky was already light. Due to scaring away the mutant plants around him, there was no obfuscation in the sky, and the crimson sun rose from the horizon, spilling its radiance.

Beneath the train, Old Jiang led the engineering crew, busily sawing wood, while that Banyan tree body capable of holding souls also had high material value.

After sunbathing for a while, Su Huan slowly folded his Domain, then flew towards the marked direction.

Driven by energy, his speed was extremely fast, swiftly passing the edge of the Domain. The land here was once again covered by mutant plants, the rolling dense fog bathed in sunlight appeared like a fairyland, yet showed no signs of dissipating.

Apparently, this dense fog was also maintained by some plant.

However, Su Huan had no intention of exploring it; his mark was just ahead, twelve kilometers from the train, the closest mark.

In mid-air, Su Huan confirmed the location and released the energy platform under his feet, his body plummeting instantly due to gravity. The nearby predatory plants couldn’t even react to what this thing was before being crushed by the terrifying weight.

Instantly, the dense jungle erupted with a series of explosive sounds.

Then came a brief silence.

A huge Banyan tree guarded by countless plate-like roots suddenly shook its leaves, and the knife-scar-like markings on its trunk twisted to form a four-meter-long giant human face that listened to the commotion overhead, slowly raising its gray ”eyebrows.”

Last night, to avoid the domain of that high-tier Evolutionary Life, it had trekked for five kilometers. Just this morning, it had just taken root and was still exhausted, with its roots not yet spread out, let alone extending its perception.

So, hearing the vibrations overhead, it felt somewhat delighted.

Had it been a treat that fell from the sky?

When Su Huan completely landed, he slightly released his aura, and the giant Banyan tree instantly turned its face to another part of the trunk.

An alive King Yama fell from the sky early in the morning.

Unbelievable bad luck!

”Bang bang!”

The Banyan tree felt its nape knocked twice, and the massive tree crown with a diameter of over thirty meters swayed thrice.

”Is there a tree at home?”

The Traveler’s Tree was just about to speak when interrupted by the knocking again.

”Bang bang!”

”Bang bang bang bang...”

Within the Plant Zone, an eerie scene unfolded: a human hovering about ten meters above the ground courteously knocking on a gigantic Banyan tree with a diameter of over five meters. The Banyan tree, as if punched by a giant, nodded frantically, its massive crown sweeping up and down like a broom, leaves and branches crashing to the ground.

The trunk creaked, seemingly wailing.

”Stop knocking...”

A thick young voice entered Su Huan’s mind.

Only then did Su Huan smile and stop. The Traveler’s Tree could communicate with most life forms; unlike Fungus Carpet, it didn’t need to learn human language or culture, merely releasing a special vibration to convey feelings and content.

This method of conscious communication was somewhat like ”spiritual communion,” where one could send a thought for any feeling, far more accurate than language and without information loss.

”Are you the Traveler’s Tree?”

The Banyan tree’s bark subtly twisted, forming an aged human face, transmitting a confused emotion, ”What is the Traveler’s Tree?”

”That’s it.” Su Huan’s lips slightly curled.

According to Donghuang Heavy Industry’s records, the Traveler’s Tree had a trait: it wouldn’t lie.

If an answer would be detrimental to themselves, they would choose not to respond rather than give a false or misleading answer.

Just like the mutated one encountered before, it would spout nonsense and even use Illusion Techniques.

Compared to that, this one was much more honest.

Its appearance was also a good fit—at a glance, it looked like good material.

The Traveler’s Tree was intimidated by Su Huan’s satisfied gaze and quickly said, ”Speak properly; perhaps I have something that can help you.”

”Indeed, I do need your help.”

Su Huan attempted to use the Traveler’s Tree’s familiar communication method, replying with a vibration of the same frequency.

The latter relaxed slightly, the thick branches lowering slightly to support Su Huan’s feet.

”Can you tell me what it is about?”

Su Huan sat down without ceremony, picking a couple of Banyan Fruits and eating them while asking, ”How far does your aura cover?”

Discussing familiar topics, the Traveler’s Tree shook its head, ”In peak condition, it can cover a range of three kilometers!”

Su Huan squinted, doubting, ”You’ve advanced to Tier Two and can only cover such a small range?”

The Traveler’s Tree felt despised; if it were anything else, it would have long since swung a branch over, but sensing the terrifying energy within Su Huan that could blast it to atoms, it explained feebly.

”Three kilometers is already impressive... Many powerful species live here, but the only ones who can release such a large aura are us, and we can control the growth speed of other plants within our aura, providing a suitable growth environment, able to raise Clans...”
