Armed Train in the Apocalypse

The shadow projected onto the road stretched long, menacingly.

An off-road vehicle stumbled along the broken asphalt road. Though it was bumpy, it was better than speeding through the wilderness on both sides. In the pitch-black darkness, who knew whether zombies or deep pits lay ahead in the grass?

The off-road vehicle turned in front of the forest and entered a nearby residential building.

This small building is the tallest structure on the edge of the Gravity Zone, and it can even view the interior of the Plant Zone.

Inside the car, Bao Qingqing crossed her arms, unconsciously biting her lustrous lower lip, reminiscing about the conversation with No. 1, though calling it an order would be more appropriate.

Without her mother, as a special agent of Silver Kite, she could only intimidate ordinary people. In front of Black Kite’s highest authority, the sole Black Kite, she could only follow orders.

But it’s not without benefits. If she can complete this mission, she can stand out among her many siblings and secure a real position of power within the Black Kite.

Currently, Black Kite is in turmoil, the board has vacancies, and perhaps there’s an opportunity for her.

In the presence of No. 1, no matter how much Mr. Shu tries to hold on, only defeat awaits him.

Realizing this, Bao Qingqing’s eyes glimmered with satisfaction.

So what if Shu Wei excels on the Armed Train?

If Mr. Shu loses, her status will undoubtedly plummet.

What’s the point of having just a supporting role on stage?

To watch that despicable woman fall from her pedestal, Bao Qingqing had sent information about Mr. Shu to the Armed Train. Shu Wei must be frantic now!

Thinking of this, Bao Qingqing couldn’t help but laugh.

The poor, pitiful look on her face took on a touch of allure, tempting the nearby Deputy Xing to the point of itching all over, wishing he could grab her by the neck and ravage her.

But such thoughts could only flash through his mind briefly. He was nearly in despair over Bao Qingqing, who responded to no bribes or persuasion. The powerful men around her were growing in number, and he could no longer keep up.

Yet unexpectedly, she had personally invited him to carry out a mission.

Deputy Xing felt his opportunity had arrived again, ”Qingqing, we’re almost at the rendezvous point.”

Upon hearing this strained voice, Bao Qingqing felt a chill spread through her heart, a sense of being interrupted in her fantasies that rose but was quickly suppressed. She composed herself, saying, ”The other party is a Tier Two Evolver, be careful.”

Deputy Xing proudly assured, ”Don’t worry, just a Tier Two Evolver; he won’t make a fuss before us Black Kite. Does he think he’s the train captain?”

Bao Qingqing remained expressionless, not even bothering to agree.

This was why she chose Deputy Xing. She is also a Tier One Evolver now, with a higher position than him, holding the power to control him in terms of strength and status.

If she recruited a big shot, she might not even reach the destination before being devoured.

With the apocalypse continually delaying, even the company’s rules struggle to cover these details anymore.

The driver acknowledged with a slight nod as they got out of the car.

Bao Qingqing led Deputy Xing into the residential interior.

The four-story small building with a British flavor was lavishly built, and outside was a spacious courtyard with two vehicles parked inside, showing obvious signs of modification, more refined than wilderness methods, though without any major power symbols.

Several human corpses and zombie bodies lay on the ground, seemingly from the surrounding Donghuang survivors.

Bao Qingqing frowned and stepped over the bodies, entering through the dark doorway.

Her eyes hadn’t yet adapted to the sudden darkness when a cold steel chill pressed to her neck. Bao Qingqing’s pupils slightly contracted, eyes catching the gleam of a Chongying Samurai Sword, held by a figure hidden in the dark, gender indistinguishable.

Deputy Xing also found himself pressed against the wall, his face turning pale.

”Let’s not waste each other’s time. According to our intel, the Armed Train may depart at any moment,” Bao Qingqing calmly said.

The other’s emotions visibly fluctuated, ”You despicable Donghuang people, who knows...”

Bao Qingqing interrupted, ”Deal, or fight?”

”Are you threatening me?”

Enraged and embarrassed, the other responded, ”You’re just a Tier One Evolver, killing you, I can still get——”

”You will get nothing. The only companies worldwide capable of creating Tier Three Genetic Potions are in Donghuang, and the only ones in Donghuang willing to cooperate with you are us Black Kite!”

”Don’t destroy Chongying’s last hope.”

Finally, the man within the darkness laid down the sword.

”Inspect the goods!”

Bao Qingqing snapped her fingers, Deputy Xing glaring fiercely at the man shoving him, tossing a briefcase to the opponent.

The latter eagerly opened it, revealing a row of glowing Genetic Potions in the darkness.

Illuminating the man’s excited and greedy gaze.

Bao Qingqing’s eyes flashed with disdain; wiped out within a few months, still thinking of troubling the train. If Black Kite wasn’t unsuitable to show face, a mere Tier Two Evolver, barely qualifying for holding weapons.

After verification, the Chongying man carefully stored the Genetic Potions.

The action made Bao Qingqing’s heart sink slightly.

”If you don’t advance to Tier Three, you won’t complete our deal.”

The man coldly replied, ”That’s my concern. You just need to accompany me to retrieve the stone inside the Plant Zone.”

Inside, Bao Qingqing sneered, her expression calm, ”Then let’s proceed.”

Under the night, the group abandoned their vehicles, walking along the asphalt road towards the distant forest.

There lies the Plant Zone.

...

Su Huan was about to find some food when he was dragged by He Jie and a group of officers to drink heavily. But before a bunch of tiger-like evolvers, the alcohol’s potency hardly had any effect.

Then Su Huan added the small fruits he liked to eat daily.

Hmm, instantly things felt quieter.

The little couple had time to sneak off for their own activities.

Su Huan returned to the sofa in the dining car. Originally, Hu Shuo planned to cut a piece of the Tier Three tiger skin and lay it on the sofa, but he didn’t need it. He was not like a mountain king who must sit on tiger skin; resources placed there without converting to power were the biggest waste.

Moreover, the orange cat sofa was pretty comfy.

Watching Yu Yue busily cooking a special meal for him, Su Huan squinted for a while before returning to his room, too lazy to turn on the light.

Just as he sat down, Shu Wei entered right behind him.

Recently, the woman was very busy, often putting down a few files and leaving. They rarely had time to speak a few words.

However, this time, she brought a lot of documents, explaining each one to him.

Su Huan felt puzzled but listened silently.

Neither of them mentioned turning on the lights, using the light from outside the window was enough for them to see any text, any subtle expression.

Finally, after half an hour, Shu Wei stopped her explanations, leaving the room in sudden silence.

She explained all the completed, ongoing, and planned work of the train.

Su Huan looked up, at the woman’s flawless face, like ivory’s texture; if it were usual, he might recklessly take a bite, but today, he remained still.

They could even feel each other’s breath brushing against their skin.

But neither intended to speak first.

”I want... to disembark.”

Su Huan’s breathing paused momentarily, his dark eyes dimming, almost merging into the night.

The atmosphere was very quiet.

After a long silence, he finally responded.

In the darkness, the gray-blue eyes grew even dimmer; she expected at least a question of why.

But after all, she breached the agreement first.

”Click”

Su Huan quietly watched the door close.

Like a silent sculpture.

Until Shu Wei walked out, the phrase ”Do you need my help?” never uttered.

Everyone has their own tasks to do.

Someone will board, naturally someone will disembark, merely sharing a journey.

The train captain won’t stop for anyone.

”If she asked for it?”

Su Huan wasn’t sure what he would choose.

But reality was, she was unwilling to speak, he didn’t ask.
