Armed Train in the Apocalypse

”Once I finish updating the equipment, we’ll conduct another test; the current data on Tier Four is completely blank,” Director Xu added with a hint of regret. ”I’m afraid most testing methods can’t measure the limits of a Tier Four Evolver’s abilities, and there’s no good way to quantify the extent of rule mastery either.”

”Limitations?”

Su Huan pondered, ”It’s somewhat similar to large strategic weapons; within ten kilometers is my control zone. It doesn’t compare to large hydrogen bombs, but the advantage is long endurance. Combined with the Rule of Energy, it can produce a temporary ’time-stop’ effect, purely in terms of energy—related to the total amount of energy control in the area. It’s very brief and imposes a significant physical burden.”

”Upon reaching Tier Four, the body is continuously reconstructed by energy; surpassing Tier Three, attaining Tier Four takes a long time. However, the evolution of the physical body seems to have fewer thresholds; as long as intensity is continuously stacked, it can be achieved.”

”I have a premonition, those who rely solely on physical qualities to reach Tier Four have no weaknesses other than the brain.”

Director Xu was taken aback, ”So you mean you still can’t overcome the weakness of the heart?”

”I’m an exception.”

Su Huan replied calmly.

The heart was no longer considered a weakness for him. He now had one primary heart and two auxiliary hearts within his chest.

For him, the heart’s most important function wasn’t to maintain blood circulation, but to serve as the Energy Storage Core, a critical node for the Circulating Vortex. As long as energy flows, there’s no major issue.

Right now, even if all three hearts were to explode simultaneously, he could rely on external energy restructuring. The real threat of death only comes from the brain.

Xiaozhao listened quietly, awe shining in his eyes.

An immortal body, this is akin to the mythical immortals. If humans continue evolving like this, they might truly revive the glory of myths.

Perhaps sensing his thoughts, Su Huan patted Xiaozhao’s shoulder, ”You could still die, be it from getting an arrow to the head, energy cut-off, or consuming something bizarre; all could possibly end me. Tier Four isn’t divine; it can die.”

”An arrow to the head?”

Xiaozhao was taken aback, what kind of arrow could blow the head off a train conductor?

Even Lin Jin’s flame arrows seemed unlikely, and before Lin Jin grasped the Rule of Destruction, he was completely overpowered by the train conductor.

Su Huan seemed to recall an unpleasant memory, his eyes squinting almost to slits.

”Too short a time, I couldn’t understand what that thing was. I came back after killing its bull.”

Xiaozhao was shocked inside; with the conductor’s world-shattering destructive power, is there really an equally formidable opponent?

What’s so elusive to kill?

A tectonic plate?

Although the information exchanged between the two gave him much shock, Xiaozhao feared something more terrifying than Tier Four Evolvers existed outside. Yet, he wasn’t despairing; if the sky falls, the conductor would bear it.

This was actually how most people felt; they didn’t consciously think it, but their subconscious believed it.

Xiaozhao finally remembered his own matter and respectfully asked, ”Did you summon me for an assignment?”

”Oh, yes.”

Su Huan flipped his palm, revealing a lifelike pale demon in his hand. Despite not being restrained by a glass bottle made of Pan-energy Crystal, the thing curled quietly within a one-inch space.

Its body was outlined with a faint glow, and it had a pair of silly-looking eyes.

”The next promotion direction of the train is how to defend against such things; you just need to know this, don’t tell others.”

Su Huan warned.

The reason he didn’t take out the pale demon at the meeting was its eeriness.

Colorless, tasteless, shapeless; without special abilities, ordinary Evolvers couldn’t even see it. It would attach to regular people, slowly replacing their consciousness and identity.

Without a matching identification method, revealing its existence would only disorder the hard-earned order established by the train.

Xiaozhao nodded solemnly, taking out his portable folder, saying, ”Next, I’ll focus on...”

Before he could finish, Su Huan waved to interrupt, ”Now you’re the head train conductor, keep it in mind.”

Watching Xiaozhao leave, the door sealed shut, Director Xu sighed, ”Xiaozhao is a fine young man; I admit I’m somewhat envious of Yuzhou in this aspect.”

Upon hearing the name, Su Huan paused for a moment before meeting Professor Ma’s gaze.

”Your assistant is also impressive.”

”It’s different. I’m merely their superior, not their mentor. Should I die someday, there’s no one left to inform.”

Director Xu said softly.

Su Huan chuckled, ”I got the sense you’re implying something today.”

Director Xu gave him a deep look and said, ”Is someone still a train conductor without a train?”

”Trying to give me a tongue-twister here...”

Su Huan chuckled in silence, standing in front of the door, the sound of gas venting was quiet in the lab.

After a moment, ”The train will reach the terminus.”

Director Xu was left alone in the lab; a smile finally emerged on his serious face.

A train is destined not to reach the terminus without a conductor.

Fortunately, the train can still keep pace with him.

...

West of the Gravity Zone, bordering Donghuang is Stana.

Though long past the Donghuang frontier, the Gravity Zone’s rules still persist, fully covering this small country Stana.

Trying to bypass the Celestial Disaster Zone from here is impossible.

Although the rules of the twelve disasters are significantly weakened in these countries, taking detours is equally dangerous in the apocalypse, and the cost-effectiveness is no better than traversing the Celestial Disaster Zone.

Burnt soil mixed with concrete powder blew from the end of the grasslands, swirling between the buildings, draping everything in sight with a gray cloak.
