Armed Train in the Apocalypse

(Four Symbols - Cyan Dragon Battle Suit Diagram)

The airtight door slid open, and the mongoose, clad in the battle suit, squinted its beastly eyes to survey the plant world below.

Ancient towering trees rose from the ground, entwined with vines like serpents, far exceeding the height of the armed train hovering in mid-air. Looking farther, the view was covered in lush green, with a chilling dense fog that blocked out the sky, barely revealing the trembling treetops.

”Wait for my command.”

Sealing the goggles, activating the battle suit’s full coverage mode, the mongoose stepped out, free-falling to the ground below.

The fierce wind and cold, damp fog were filtered by the battle suit; environmental information was collected by the suit, but faster than the intelligent core of the suit was the mongoose’s instinct. Through ”environmental mimicry,” it blended into the forest with just a breath.

A Night Demon, clinging to a tree trunk and climbing swiftly, suddenly paused, looking up in puzzlement.

The scent of intruders suddenly vanished, leaving only a massive shadow in the fog above.

Instinct told him that confronting such a gigantic ”Evolutionary Creature” was certainly unwise, yet his craving for flesh and evolution compelled him to take a look. As he hesitated, a faint breeze swept by, like a mother’s gentle whisper in his ear.

”Clang!”

A sixty-centimeter Triangular Military Dagger cruelly pierced through the Night Demon’s head, pinning it to the tree.

The mongoose suddenly appeared in the wind, silently crouching on the extended part of the military dagger.

Its platinum-colored beastly eyes were wide open, increasing light intake, carefully inspecting the situation below. After confirming no danger, it shouted into the communicator, ”Safe, you can descend.”

As soon as the words fell, it suddenly sensed a fleeting malice behind it. The mongoose reached for the military dagger beneath its feet, and both the mongoose and the dagger disappeared instantly.

Without support, the Night Demon’s body slid down, only to be caught by the claws embedded in the tree trunk.

Above, a pair of narrow eyes slightly squinted.

”Distracted the cat from the mountain...”

He Jie looked grim, ”Just got promoted to Tier Two and already got proud. Everything taught went straight to hell.”

Su Huan glanced at him in surprise; why was this person cursing at himself?

”It’s her first time leading a team, after all; she just wants to do more,” Su Huan comforted indifferently.

”I’ll go down for a walk.”

With a step, Su Huan appeared ghost-like in mid-air, neither descending nor ascending, like a rule-breaking player leisurely walking through the plants.

Leaving behind He Jie with a ghostly expression above.

He wasn’t surprised by what the train conductor could achieve; what truly surprised him was Su Huan using others’ perspectives before leaving.

Was there a switcheroo with a ghost?

...

Liu Zi was the first to land, the thick humus layer absorbing his ten-meter fall with only a slight thud.

Behind him, thirteen people landed upright, quickly dispersing into a tactical formation.

Defending three directions.

The mongoose’s adjutant directed two teams to begin their gathering mission.

The close-up view of the Plant Zone was even more eerie than from the train.

The air’s moisture level was terrifyingly high, not like a tropical rainforest’s moist heat, but more like the chilly morning of a northern summer in the mountains, with a cold fog that chilled the soul.

The smell of rotting plants filled the nostrils, an indescribable mix of stench and freshness, intensely overpowering.

Below the humus, the ”ground” was actually a thick layer of intertwined creeping plants, stepping on it didn’t meet solid soil but a disturbing elasticity and slight rebound, as if treading on the tendon of a giant beast not yet fully stiffened.

The leaves on the ground suddenly rolled up in large quantities, as if giant snakes were drilling underground, yet the soldiers made no moves, remaining vigilant in their directions.

The mongoose adjutant’s pupils lit up, a light curtain appeared above their heads, directly blocking the oncoming vines from all directions.

Laser beams flashed from the train above, cutting down swaths of vines, which fell to the sides.

After a while, it quieted down, and the barrier slowly disappeared.

Liu Zi crouched, cutting and packing a segment of vine.

The plant tissue around the cut slightly contracted, as if it felt pain.

”They retreated...” Team member Big Goose whispered, ”These things know when to cut their losses.”

”In the apocalypse, everything’s eerie,” Xiao Hong answered calmly, keeping his hands moving, ”Our task is just to gather samples; watch your two o’clock direction, that cluster of fern leaves is shaking slightly, it’s abnormal.”

Big Goose immediately went on alert, indeed seeing that the cluster of deep purple, sawtoothed edge ferns was swaying rhythmically, despite there being no wind nearby.

Just then, the ferns suddenly burst!

Not an explosion, but with dozens of leaves shooting out like flying knives towards the team!

”Defense!” Liu Zi shouted.

Guo Susu stepped forward, blocking Xiao Hong, and thrust a broad heavy sword into the ground.

The other three gathered behind her, wrapping their coats tightly around themselves.

The fern leaves hit the coats, making a snapping sound, unable to penetrate, but still causing pain, making them wince.

”Sample collection complete!” the soil sample team shouted.

Liu Zi also shouted, about to say something when he suddenly frowned, ”Bomb, take care of that wound on your face.”

Bomb, belatedly realizing, touched the cut on his face, cursing, ”Damn, didn’t notice, got scratched.”

”Quick, administer the antidote!”

Xiao Hong tossed over an antidote, urging.

Before the antidote reached him, the surrounding plants grew more agitated, with terrifying roars echoing through the jungle.
