Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Like a tiger’s claw, the massive hand grabbed the man’s cheek and, pulling him closer, delivered a fierce knee strike.

With a muffled thud, even the formidable body of the Tier Two Evolver warrior almost crumbled under that blow, his eyes bulging, something trying to gush out from his mouth, but Lian Jin showed no sign of stopping, despite his own body being heavily torn by the move.

The warrior hastily drew a waist knife from his belt and viciously hacked at Lian Jin’s arm.

But in the next moment, the warrior’s hand, along with the knife, turned into a plume of blood mist. A ghostly blue trajectory lingered in the sky, stretching far all the way to the train, where Yu Yue stood inside, holding an electromagnetic sniper rifle that was one point eight meters long.

The piercing pain made the warrior roll his eyes, and Lian Jin seized this fleeting opportunity, grabbing the opponent’s waist with his other hand, lifting him fiercely, flinging his body into the air, then driving his elbow down with his entire body weight into the strike.

”Boom!”

The hit created a depression over three meters wide in the ground beneath them.

The terrifying force made the female ninja, who was sneaking an attack from behind, feel her heart palpitating with fear as she glanced warily at Yu Yue on the distant train.

The bullets were already chambered, constantly locking onto her; taking even a step forward meant the opponent would fire!

Even with the speed of a Tier Two Evolver, she might not get hit, but the female ninja dared not take that gamble, as getting hit meant instant death. But seeing Lian Jin grievously injured and near death, she was still unwilling to leave; after all, this was the man known as the War Elephant.

If she managed to kill him, her status within the Pan-Asian Alliance would soar into the top ranks!

A few shells exploded on the train, and abruptly, around ten heavy machine guns ceased fire, while thick black smoke obscured the train’s view.

The train’s connectors let out a painful wail.

’Good opportunity!’

The female ninja felt a thrill in her heart and sprinted toward Lian Jin in the crater.

Ever since delivering the final strike, the man had been kneeling there, clearly at the end of his resources; this was her only chance.

Just then, a powerful presence emanated from behind her, like an imposing tiger, causing the female ninja to scream in shock at the sudden turn of events. She threw a strange grenade to the ground, and as black mist erupted, she quickly rolled forward, but the terrifying aura clung to her like a shadow, showing no signs of being shaken off.

As she prepared to turn her head, a chilly hand seized the back of her neck.

”A filthy wretch like you wants to kill my brother?”

The cold and commanding female voice was close, yet the ninja had no more chance to turn back.

With a crunching sound, the neck snapped like a twig under the grip of the palm.

Gazing at the army boots before him, Lian Jin, half kneeling in the pit, raised his head, looking at his sister’s cold and stern face, feeling a kinship stronger than ever, he managed to pull the corners of his mouth with great effort, ”Was careless, didn’t dodge.”

As he spoke, thick blood oozed from his body filled with countless wounds, quickly pooling over the corpse of the warrior beneath him.

The initially angry Lord Lian looked at his brother’s pitiful condition, and the reprimand at the tip of his tongue turned into a long sigh.

She reached out, patting his front and back, sending two knives, one long, one short, flying.

”But hasn’t sis got your back...”

Lian Jin chuckled.

Since childhood, whenever it mattered most, his sister would appear, standing in front of him. Despite inevitably getting scolded, his sister was his strongest support.

Lord Lian’s eyes darkened, ”It’s my fault... Ah Jin, you’re a man; you’ll have to learn to bail yourself out in the future.” Then she draped her cloak over him, the gray sable drenched with blood, turning soggy.

”...You did something wrong?”

Lord Lian’s sudden apology caught Lian Jin by surprise, leaving him stunned.

Usually, wouldn’t Lord Lian slam the cloak over his head and yell that man are useless, and watch me shine?

The gentle tone was perplexing.

A huge sense of unease rose from within, and as Lian Jin noticed his sister’s empty left sleeve dangling, severed from the elbow, only a vacant sleeve fluttering, he realized, upon closer inspection, that her left chest was hollow!

No heart inside!

With the Defender’s powerful regenerative ability, having the heart pierced was merely a severe injury; treated well, it would not even cost much life force.

Yet even for Tier Three individuals, the loss of the heart was an irrecoverable fatal wound!

Reflecting on his sister’s words just now, an intense sense of suffocation swept his heart.

”Sis, what happened to your heart?”

Lord Lian did not explain, silently stood up, bypassing Lian Jin, and gazed at the distant battlefield.

Despite the Donghuang People’s steadfast will to fight, their equipment was too poor, with only a few having modern weapons in hand, making the battle mostly one-sided in a warfare dominated by firearms. If not for the train standing in front, wreaking havoc, the battle would have ended by now.

Yet under the combined assault of Tier Two Evolvers from the Four Nations, the various offensive gear on the Armed Train was being picked off and destroyed piece by piece.

Initially, there was electromagnetic defense, but it was put out of commission after some fuss from the Controller.

Now, relying solely on the train’s formidable armor for defense, all counterattacks depended on the evolvers within the train, and even the Armed Train, however mighty a vehicle it might be, seemed like a toothless tiger before the High-Tier Evolvers.

Increasingly more people were taking notice of Lord Lian here, but her aura was too radiant, intimidating the Pan-Asian Alliance experts, holding them back from advancing.
