Armed Train in the Apocalypse

The people on the train who could stop the ”great battle” were all in a meeting on the second level of the dining car.

Su Huan sat at the head, propping his cheek with his fist, listening to Director Xu’s concluding remarks.

”...Based on the conditions mentioned above, we can speculate that each major zone might have hidden rules unknown to us. It’s precisely these rules that maintain the twelve catastrophes, giving rise to distinct orders and starkly opposing climate environments.”

”Under these premises, even if we suppress the evolving plants in the short term, after a while, they will still regrow under the driving force of the rules.”

”Therefore, I don’t recommend considering conventional methods. If we want to establish a long-term passage, there are only two choices: either find a rule that can contend against the Plant Zone, like high temperatures, acid rain, or snowstorms, or integrate into the existing rules of the Plant Zone, like the Traveler’s Tree mentioned in Donghuang Heavy Industry’s documents.”

While everyone was pondering, the train suddenly trembled underneath them.

The train’s broadcast followed, issuing the serious voice of glasses, ”Monitoring detected mutant plants attacking the train. Will ascend once again. Requesting train conductor’s assistance.”

”Creak—”

The carriage underneath was actually lifted a little.

Su Huan raised an eyebrow and walked to the window to look outside. The mutant plants initially cleared away by Lin Jin seemed to have gone insane, launching an attack on the train once again.

The mechanical arms on the train sprayed streams of high-temperature flames, while soldiers wearing Power Armor set up flamethrowers on the outer perimeter, burning brightly.

”Bang!”

The carriage fell, causing a heavy tremor.

Then it was lifted again, creating a slanted angle on the floor inside the car.

The Energy Storage Core of the train was infusing energy into the train’s runes, a blue light band appeared on the carriage wall, but the progress was only 10% per minute; lighting up the entire train would take at least ten minutes.

Ascending the train requires not only rule patterns but also massive energy, so Professor Ma and others crafted a separate Pan Energy storage device. However, since it’s a first-generation device, there are many flaws, like the current slow startup.

Su Huan extended his perception while infusing energy into the train’s patterns.

The blue progress bar shot up like a rocket, reaching 100% within a few breaths. Amid the creaking of connecting parts and the roar of the Anti-gravity Array, the massive train gradually ascended.

However, he didn’t stop the energy input but increased it exponentially; the patterns on the car body burst into dazzling light, and the train, already reaching the limit height of 12 meters, soared upwards again.

Twenty meters, thirty meters, fifty meters...

The view from the train became increasingly vast.

As the distance expanded, the mechanical arms gradually retracted, while the mutant plants on the ground became more rampant.

But they couldn’t break through the inner circle defense set by Lin Jin.

Besides the vines and giant trees seen during the day, a large number of water-containing plants mingled in, such as the ”Big Belly Banana Tree” resembling a water bottle, with its head bearing four or five red giant flowers the size of basketballs; when scorched by fire, they exploded with a large burst of acid.

The outer ring of flames was smothered by dense plants, and further away, even those towering trees began moving towards here.

The entire Plant Zone was driving away these outsiders.

Su Huan limited his perception range to ten kilometers, repeatedly screening for potential Traveler’s Tree or special life forms, marking them, and then walked out of the carriage, choosing the train head he frequently stood at to expand his Domain.

On the ground, Lin Jin furrowed his brows looking at the dozens of thick vines left behind after the train took off.

Just now he had burned this ground thoroughly, not just the surface but even ten meters underground had been turned over and scorched clean.

Under the flame mixed with the Destruction rule, no life should exist here, so where did these things grow from?

”Boom boom boom...”

Zhong You waved his hand, detonating a row of water-saturated plants, and turned back, ”Stop thinking about it; reinforce the fire at the rear; they’re about to hold out.”

Lin Jin quickly maintained his circle of fire, and at that moment, all Evolvers and even mutant plants spontaneously lifted their heads.

A point of luminescent light suddenly appeared in the dark sky, like a mischievous firefly spinning around, pursued and chased by invisible forces, finally being driven to the center by four air currents, and then collided fiercely; the light point suddenly expanded wildly, instantly enveloping the entire sky.

The light screen turned pitch-black in the blink of an eye, as if all the light in the world had been absorbed, even Lin Jin’s flames couldn’t illuminate an inch around them; if it weren’t for his continuous energy input to maintain it, the flames might have already gone out.

Yet in this ”silence”, he felt the energy in the air abnormally joyful, like a crowd celebrating a grand carnival, bubbling and leaping; even the fire under his control was agitated, as if it had gained its own life.

But more terrifying was the ubiquitous presence of the train conductor!

No longer fierce, fearsome, or daunting, but a vast presence that makes one feel their insignificance, a grandeur making it hard to arise any hostility from the heart.

Facing a giant beast like a hill, people would feel terror, shudder, and creepingly want to flee. But against a beast akin to the starry sky, any human reaction is meaningless, even Evolvers like Lin Jin and Zhong You, seen as superhumans by ordinary people, are mere ants!
