Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Within just a few hundred meters, six members of the Four Nations Alliance had already been sniped by him.

Qu Hang dropped his supply pack, clutching only his sniper rifle as he sprinted towards the mountaintop. Having scouted the area beforehand, he moved with speed. The soldiers of the Four Nations below, wary of being shot, cautiously advanced up the slope. By the time he reached his second sniping point, the elite soldiers of the Four Nations had only just arrived at his previous position.

Just as he raised his sniper rifle, he suddenly felt something was off; those people had all come to a stop.

Qu Hang keenly looked up, eyeing a magnified black dot, the corner of his mouth twitching, ”This is really boring...”

”Boom!”

An artillery shell struck the mountaintop, sending Qu Hang flying like a feather in the wind; as he hit the ground, he spat out a mouthful of blood.

”He’s injured, don’t let him escape, kill him!”

”Kill this Donghuang sniper to avenge the general!”

The wind carried the chaotic sounds from the base of the mountain. Qu Hang hadn’t expected his misstep to inadvertently take down a general, but it wasn’t exactly a loss.

However, he definitely couldn’t stay at his previous location. These bastards were shelling him directly from below; he had to move, or he wouldn’t last a minute.

”Boom boom boom—”

More artillery blasts echoed from Tan Junyue, though slightly off from Qu Hang’s position.

”Boom boom boom...”

Angry curses emanated from below. Qu Hang had a faint feeling that the shells weren’t actually aimed at him. Looking back down the mountain, the original artillery position was in chaos.

Before he could pinpoint the source of the turmoil, a sharp killing intent swiftly targeted the center of his back.

Drawing a deep breath, Qu Hang sidestepped, exhaling a strong gust and using the recoil to move sideways, dodging the attack behind him.

”Eh!”

A clear female voice sounded from behind, as pristine as a shard of ice in sunlight.

Without looking, Qu Hang tilted his sniper rifle and pulled the trigger.

Yet the killing intent didn’t retreat; instead, it grew closer. Still mid-air, with a flick of the hand, a silver-white pistol fell into his grip. It was then that he saw who was attacking him.

A woman of the White Elephant, her face obscured by a faint, yellow veil. Her skin pale, a red dot on her forehead, she winked at Qu Hang, even as the serpentine dagger in her hand was about to pierce his heart.

”Boom!”

The violent sound of the Ming Lion could shock any first-time listener, and Tier Two Evolvers were no exception!

An intense flame burst from the muzzle, directly assaulting the woman’s face.

For a moment, the White Elephant woman hesitated, stepping back a few steps. In her mind, Qu Hang was already a dead man; injuring someone destined to die was not worth it.

Landing in a tree, Qu Hang tossed out two fragmentation grenades and dashed forward.

An assassin, the enemy he least wanted to face. Even though his wind manipulation made him more perceptive than the average sniper, dealing with an assassin was still troublesome.

Since the Mongoose advanced to Tier One, he hadn’t won against her in close-to-mid-range combat.

But that was because he held back some insidious tactics.

The explosion boomed behind him, accompanied by a sharp wail. The disheveled White Elephant woman pursued again, her veil scorched with several holes, fresh wounds marking her twisting waist.

As she passed between two trees behind Qu Hang, another fierce explosion suddenly erupted.

A slight smirk crept up Qu Hang’s lips. Running, he continued to throw out various small items. Tier Two Evolvers were sensitive to Pan Energy fluctuations, but these were purely technological creations and proved to be remarkably effective.

The White Elephant woman was furious and embarrassed. The angrier she got, the harder it was to catch Qu Hang.

In an armed squad, there simply were no ”support roles”!

Even medics or perception-type Evolvers were well-trained elite warriors, proficient in combat across complex terrains.

They were first screened as warriors, and then combat roles were assigned based on their evolutionary abilities. That didn’t mean when they became medics, they only carried syringes and bandages, turning pale and frozen at the sight of the enemy.

If anyone foolishly treated the train’s ”support troops” as lambs for slaughter, they’d encounter the current situation.

But Qu Hang wasn’t an ordinary Tier One either.

With a rustle, the White Elephant woman burst through the underbrush. Her beautiful face twisted slightly, staring at Qu Hang standing at the cliff’s edge. She didn’t speak, but the playful and carefree look on her face said it all, ”Where do you think you’re going?”

Looking at the thousand-meter cliff beneath him, Qu Hang sighed softly, ”Taking a path planned by others is still better than having no path at all.”

The White Elephant woman couldn’t understand what he meant, merely treating it as his final words. Her pink tongue licked the serpentine dagger, advancing with seductive steps. Yet this time, she was extremely cautious, placing her feet very randomly, left and right.

Qu Hang stretched out his hands, and an empty test tube fell off the cliff, shattering below.

Seeing her actions, he couldn’t help but remark, ”What’s the point of being cautious? It’s not triggered by steps, the remote is in my hand...”

The woman’s eyes turned suspicious, her steps halting.

She didn’t understand, but could feel Qu Hang’s confident demeanor.

”The wind’s picking up.”

Suddenly, a gust swept from afar, causing the layers of trees to rustle and his gray-green coat to flutter dramatically above the cliff.

Qu Hang closed his eyes, feeling the fierce changes in his genetic makeup, as he let himself fall backward.

The White Elephant woman jolted in shock, the snake-like dagger slipping from her grip, but a moment later, it merely clipped a stray breeze while the man had already fallen off the cliff.

The woman rushed to the cliff’s edge, peering down, only to instantly screech and jerk back.

But it was already too late.

Looking below the cliff, the falling man cradled his sniper rifle, and through his cold eyes, he locked onto the White Elephant woman through his scope. At her moment of peeking, he pulled the trigger.

As the muzzle burst into flame, explosives concealed on the cliffside simultaneously detonated.

Qu Hang no longer had the energy to observe the woman’s fate.

The increasingly turbulent energy consumed his every thought. His arms spread wide, the gray-green coat flapping wildly in the cold wind, resembling a falcon in freefall.

’There are shortcuts to evolution: make your body believe it’s about to die.’

That man casually lay on the sofa, imparting the essence of evolution.

’Hope the train conductor was right.’

’Otherwise this time...’

’I’ll really die.’

...

Moments later, the wind surged up from the cliff bottom!

Around Tan Junyue, within thousands of meters, every blade of grass and tree was bowed, plastered firmly to the ground, leaf backs turned pale like the bellies of frightened fish.

—The world was left with only the primordial sound, vast, coarse, filled with the roar of power.

...

The relentless wind gathered, becoming a bone-cutting blade.

Weak individuals converged, emitting a roar that shook mountains and seas.

Some died; others took their place.

Tens of thousands advanced amidst the flames of war.

The Four Nations’ struggle had long reached a fever pitch, and for them, having initiated the war, there was no retreat.

The Four Nations Alliance, breaching Tan Junyue’s interference, with fifty thousand troops, launched a counterattack on the outpost defense line, directly clashing with the Armed Train. Over 150,000 engaged in battle in the narrow Cangling Mountains.

Whether invaders or guardians, there was no time for contemplation in this moment, regardless of original intentions or how vivid their personalities and dreams once were.

At this moment.

The only thing they could and had to do was kill the enemy before them.

A man stabbed to death two Chongying people, and another troublesome White Elephant, reaching his limit.

Longstanding hunger had drained his body, not the will to kill the enemy that sustained him till now, but the hearty meal before departure on that night.

Five or six bullets sprayed over; the man felt nothing.

But his body naturally fell.

According to his father, killing one was worth the effort; he’d profited twice over already.

No loss.

What else did his father say?

The man stared at the newborn sun overhead, his vision gradually blurring.

Oh, the future is vast, and time stretches endlessly ahead.
