Armed Train in the Apocalypse

After introducing the train system and some project progress, before Luo Jingyi could ask, Zhou Qing spoke about his next task.

”The Phase Three Train Renovation Plan focuses on AI as the core to build a multi-dimensional defense network and ecological circulation system, but there are no AI domain experts on the train, and the AI aspect has been stuck at a relatively basic level.”

Talking about professional domain, Luo Jingyi didn’t bother with politeness and directly asked, ”Do you have equipment? Hardware is the computational foundation; modern AI, especially large models, depends heavily on massive parallel computations. Without hardware, it’s all meaningless.”

Zhou Qing nodded, ”Did you see that tree when you came in?”

Luo Jingyi paused, ’Tree? Does it have anything to do with hardware? Has it evolved into a computer or something?’

”Sorry, I didn’t quite understand...”

”There’s a supercomputer and a supporting data center under that tree.”

Luo Jingyi gasped, never imagining a supercomputer trailing behind the train.

The awe towards the train escalated once again within him.

If only brute force was high, he would merely see the train as a temporary haven, but with a robust institutional progression system, he would consider it for long-term development. Moreover, the train also houses various research labs for future strategies.

The prospects of such a force are simply astonishing.

Luo Jingyi, excited, said, ”If that’s the case, I am confident.”

As they spoke, they arrived at the Pan-Energy Weapons Research Institute, hearing Vice President Deng’s furious voice from afar, ”Your brain is wasted; thankfully, your father laid a good foundation for you. Don’t go anywhere for a while, start learning advanced mathematics, linear algebra, probability and statistics, classical mechanics, electromagnetism... Learn these first!”

”What?”

”Can’t learn?”

”I didn’t expect you to learn calculus at fourteen, but you’re already nineteen.”

”Forget the future, catch up on these first. I’ll ask Professor Ma to supplement your other studies.”

Luo Jingyi’s mouth twitched, ”Fortunately, I’ve already finished what I needed to learn.”

Zhou Qing had a gentle smile, but then it dimmed a bit, ”Deng is also anxious, wanting to pass down his knowledge.”

The two entered the compartment, and the Pan-Energy Weapons Laboratory seemed much simpler, lacking complex machinery, just tables lined up along the carriage with dismantled weapons on the white tabletops and several testing instruments in the corner, with metal blinds on the windows all closed, fully relying on artificial lighting.

At first glance, it looks like a wild weapon repair shop.

Vice President Deng stood behind Liu Yu, who sat at the table with a glum expression, surrounded by a stack of books taller than him, with one opened in front, filled with densely packed characters causing dizziness.

Zhou Qing introduced, ”This is Professor Luo Jingyi, an expert in the domain of artificial intelligence.”

Vice President Deng’s eyes suddenly lit up, eagerly stepping forward to shake Luo Jingyi’s hand, ”It’s an honor, it’s an honor...”

Luo Jingyi recognized the politeness. He and Zhou Qing are a generation apart, and Vice President Deng is even older, clearly someone from the teacher’s era, but since he was given face, he reciprocated with a smile, ”Seeing you gives me the feeling of seeing my teacher, always remembering to educate students in this situation, it’s impressive...”

Vice President Deng, holding hands tightly, added, ”Then perhaps Mr. Luo can assist me in teaching, regarding the optimization of guidance algorithms and weapons control system development, all requiring computer knowledge, which this old man can’t do...”

Luo Jingyi: ”...”

However, with a desire to make connections, he went along.

Behind him, Liu Yu’s initially straight posture completely collapsed.

Zhou Qing, watching Liu Yu immersed in learning, looked warm as if making some kind of determination.

When the two had visited all the departments, it was already late, and just as Luo Jingyi wanted to express gratitude, he suddenly lifted his head, sensing a familiar oppressive presence quickly approaching from ahead.

The terrifying aura made his heart tighten.

”Don’t be nervous, it’s the Trainmaster.” Zhou Qing turned apologetically, ”I was planning to entertain you, but I have some urgent matters, so I might have to excuse myself.”

”Go ahead, I can handle the upcoming tasks myself.”

In Luo Jingyi’s eyes, the shock was hard to conceal.

While speaking, Su Huan and Bai Lu swiftly passed by from the front, exiting the train without stopping.

Zhou Qing quickly followed.

Recently, Hu Shuo and others had been busy nonstop, and Su Huan also barely had any leisure time, rushing around inspecting various construction situations in the city, assisting Director Xu and others in testing and research, occasionally being called by He Jie for emergencies, holding fort.

Today’s first large-scale assessment at the boot camp concluded; although he wasn’t responsible for anything, he had to show his face so the new recruits know of his presence.

Upon hearing the footsteps behind him, Su Huan asked without turning his head, ”How is that Luo Jingyi?”

Zhou Qing pondered, ”After today’s interaction, his work attitude is still rigorous, not just a person with fame. I briefly exchanged ideas with him on the train’s AI development; if manpower is sufficient, improvements can be made on the existing foundation, resulting in outcomes in 3-6 months.”

”Is it ready for direct use, or merely basic control?”

Zhou Qing shook his head, ”The level will only maintain around 2026; the apocalyptic decline had too much impact, even though the path is known, it must be walked again...”

”The last researched [Guardian] Power Armor wasn’t bad.”

Su Huan said lightly.

Zhou Qing could only follow the topic, ”The previous Power Armor design was somewhat rash, heavily borrowed from the Black Kite Exoskeleton, causing mechanical interference among many mechanical assistive structures and armors. The reworking is ongoing and will take at least 2-3 months; warfare usability has improved significantly, but for true maturity, at least six large-scale iterations are required.”
