Armed Train in the Apocalypse

The sound of collision caused the thick bolts on the iron shed to tremble violently, even making one worry that they would fly off the next moment.

Pushing open the simple door, a heavy and wild heatwave hit face-first.

Lin Jin sat inside a transparent glass enclosure, one leg tucked in, the other naturally hanging below the chair, emitting a gentle glow like a large lightbulb. Even from such a distance, the continuous heat could be felt, indicating the temperature inside the glass.

It seemed that he sensed He Jie’s gaze; Lin Jin opened his eyes, the platinum light shooting out three feet, turning the glass enclosure partially a bit crimson. Realizing it was He Jie, he nodded and continued his training.

’Competitive spirit!’

He Jie irritably clicked his tongue and looked to the other side.

At the end of a six-meter-wide iron-wood deck stood a strange device. A dozen hair-thin needles were ejected, directly targeting Liang Kuan, who held a giant shield.

The latter held his breath, slightly adjusting the angle of the giant shield in his hand. After an almost imperceptible ”ding” sound, he abruptly flipped the shield. The two-meter-diameter shield, in his hands, was like a light handkerchief, instantly changing direction, the airflow disturbing the rebounding needles. Then, as the needles hovered, the shield immediately retracted.

”Bang——”

A target with mechanical buffer on the right side staggered violently.

The coarse bolts of the fixed equipment below let out a sharp explosion.

’Rough guy!’

He Jie frowned.

However, with Xiaoba, the little trickster of today’s competitive trio absent, he felt a slight inner delight.

”Good evening, Old Liang.”

He Jie greeted.

”Good.”

A slightly muffled voice rolled out of Liang Kuan’s throat.

Casually placing a heavy machine gun on his training spot, He Jie walked toward Liang Kuan, ”How many did you take today?”

Liang Kuan turned his head, revealing the Tier Two Pan-energy Crystal clamped between his teeth, and held up four thick fingers.

”Four Tier Two!”

He Jie widened his eyes.

For convenience, they would hold Pan-energy Crystals in their mouths during training, absorbing them while training. Like his skills, most were Tier One, between Levels 3 to 6, using Tier One Pan-energy Crystals sufficed, although one Tier Two could also be exhausted in a single night.

Liang Kuan adjusted the position of the Pan-energy Crystal in his mouth and shook his head, ”One Tier Two, three Tier One, I can’t withstand the energy of four Tier Two.”

He Jie was surprised, ”Even you can’t handle it? I remember your defense attribute is Level 4, right, reaching Tier One, second only to the train captain.”

Liang Kuan lowered his eyes, looking at his palm chafed by the shield handle, and sighed, ”This 1 level makes a big difference.”

Basic attributes, unlike skill levels, cannot be quickly upgraded with Pan-energy Crystals and can only be improved bit by bit, through gritted teeth.

Or by stimulating the body’s potential between life and death.

It’s not about emphasizing combat intensity but genuinely experiencing life and death to awaken immense potential in despair.

Just like the train captain said, ”Make your body believe you are about to die.”

Ordinary battles and dangers can’t even deceive oneself, let alone the body and subconscious.

He Jie also let out a long sigh.

Everyone lived under Su Huan’s shadow.

He Jie remembered Liang Kuan’s attributes clearer than anyone else.

Strength: Level 7 (Tier Two)

Speed: Level 4 (Tier One)

Defense: Level 4 (Tier One)

Endurance: Level 6 (Tier One)

Constitution: Level 6 (Tier One)

Profession: Tier One ”Soldier” = Level 7 ”Combat Factor” + Level 4 ”Shield Specialization” + Level 5 ”Pain Dulling” + Level 2 ”Iron Bone”

It might not seem impressive at first glance, but compared to his, one immediately understands what horror means.

He Jie:

Strength: Level 5 (Tier One)

Speed: Level 3 (Not yet Tier One)

Defense: Level 2 (Not yet Tier One)

Endurance: Level 4 (Tier One)

Constitution: Level 3 (Not yet Tier One)

Profession: Tier One ”Firepower Hand” = Level 6 ”Combat Factor” + [Level 3 ”Firearms Specialization” (Level 5 ”Heavy Firepower Specialization”)] + Level 5 ”Trajectory Correction” + Level 2 ”Dual Wield Gunmanship” + Level 1 ”Dynamic Vision”

Besides, he has two additional skills, Level 2 ”Combat Specialization” and Level 1 ”Battlefield Command”

Among the five key Basic Attributes, as a Tier One ”Firepower Hand,” he has three not yet at Tier One level.

This is enough to show how much different growth directions and professions impact Evolvers.

If Liang Kuan were to get within ten meters, his best outcome would be mutual destruction; if the distance shortens further, the terrifying gap in basic attributes would leave him not even a chance to plead.

However, if the distance lengthens, seven professional skills and four firearm-related skills would show Liang Kuan what ruthlessness means.

Due to the early evolution, his Skill Levels overall exceed Liang Kuan’s, among which ”Firearms Specialization” is an upper-tier skill of ”Heavy Firepower Specialization,” where both are inclusive. As long as the heavy firepower reaches the corresponding level, the level of firearms specialization doesn’t affect his promotion to the next tier.

As for ”Combat Specialization” and ”Battlefield Command,” they are pure wastes of Life Force, but there’s no choice. In the Steel Council, to become stronger, every soldier undergoes targeted training for these skills.

The train captain has said more than once, if ”Battlefield Command” were replaced with ”Battlefield Foresight,” it would be perfect. That’s the skill required for the future promotion of a ”Firepower Hand.”

Therefore, in the training of the train’s rookie camp, unless there is a confirmed professional direction, they only train physical fitness, enhance Basic Attributes, and do not conduct customized skill training.

”I’ve seen you hitting embroidery needles with your shield for two days. What are you training for?”

He Jie asked, restraining his emotions.

Liang Kuan stepped aside, letting the other see the metal target surface he was striking with his shield, explaining, ”My ’Shield Specialization’ hasn’t improved for a long time. Director Xu came up with a method, having me pin embroidery needles into the metal with the shield.”
