Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Under the stare of the Plague Lord, everyone immediately dared not step forward.

Chen Shan pulled out a chair, and Li Xinlong sat beside Wen Biao.

Due to the armed train, the relationship between the two unconnected individuals became much closer.

Wen Biao laughed, ”I thought Master Rong would come a bit later.”

Li Xinlong shook his head, ”In the entire Zhijin, only the train conductor is qualified to take the stage.”

Wen Biao looked at the scavengers in front of him, who were excitedly discussing how much loot they would get, and sneered, ”It’s a pity there are still those who don’t get it, who don’t know who’s in charge even now.”

Li Xinlong let out a faint, ambiguous laugh, expressing agreement.

There was a sound of light footsteps coming from outside the door. Two armed soldiers in gray-green trench coats entered first, their sharp gazes sweeping around, then stepped to stand on both sides of the door, like two unsheathed military knives, cold and sharp!

A figure with hands in his pockets approached, with black hair casually draped down his back, fluffy and untamed, his long and narrow eyes half-smiling. As he appeared, the whole hall echoed with the sound of chairs moving.

No one could stay seated.

”Conductor...”

Voices of varying tidiness but loudness said in unison.

Su Huan walked towards the chair placed at the front of the hall. A group of insightful individuals immediately pulled the chair forward, more straightened.

Su Huan nudged the chair with his toe, tilting it a bit, and sat on the backrest, sight level with everyone.

Seeing this stance, President Jinfeng and Old Yang exchanged glances in the crowd.

Things didn’t feel quite right.

”I have a lot to do. Old Hu, just outline the situation to them directly,” Su Huan said.

”Okay.”

Hu Shuo responded, and only then did everyone see Hu Shuo in a suit behind the train conductor.

Hu Shuo handled the train’s logistics. Many present had interacted with him and regarded him as the major steward of the armed train.

Hu Shuo stepped forward, opened the file, and without lengthy preambles, went straight to the key points.

”According to statistics, about 120,000 scavengers participated in the later South District cleanup war, with death numbers exceeding 25,000. Up until today, more than 10,000 have left one after another, leaving 86,000 in Zhijin, with over 600 small and large factions, and 104 factions existing before the war.”

”A total of 12 factions have over 500 people, with 16 Tier One Evolvers.”

”The armed train has decided to set up an armed station in Zhijin City, with a projected population of 100,000 residents...”

Initially, hearing these statistics made everyone sad because the deceased were their own people, and of over 600 factions, only over 100 existed before the war.

Yet, hearing the subsequent planning, they couldn’t help but be stunned.

An armed train planned to build a city with a population of 100,000!

The Base City plan was actually advancing!

Although there had been expectations, hearing it confirmed ignited a fiery sense of history in every heart.

However, the unease in President Jinfeng and other leaders only grew deeper.

They’d heard some rumors about the data but knew nothing about the Base City establishment, not even when the armed train had drafted the plan!

They were completely left out!

And from the name ”armed station,” they could discern the train’s dominance, clearly treating the Base City as its own.

Wen Biao and Li Xinlong listened attentively.

This concerned their future.

”The main departments of the Base City will be three bureaus and two institutes, namely the Food Production Bureau, Energy Management Bureau, Residential Planning Bureau, Academy of Sciences, and Medical Institute. Security is divided into two, with the City Defense Army responsible for the interior and Guard Corps establishing an outpost on the periphery. The former acts as the Law Enforcer, and the latter is responsible for early warnings and exploration.”

”All the above departments will be appointed based on wartime merits and will be announced after the meeting.”

”Lastly, all matters of the Base City will be overseen by the Station Chief, with the first Station Chief being Li Xinlong, leader of the Black Star Convoy.”

After finishing, Hu Shuo looked up and surveyed the room.

As expected, everyone was utterly stupefied by the enormous flood of information. Some looked at Li Xinlong, some were flushed and indignant, and others were sneaking glances at the train conductor.

Su Huan was observing a Tier One Evolver with regard to the meeting content.

They’d already held a mini-meeting on the train.

This meeting only occurred after every detail was established.

Rather than a meeting, it was more a unilateral announcement by the armed train.

The Zhijin Station differed from Shun’an and Guan Chong, with a massive and complex population that couldn’t be managed with a simple structure anymore. It must be built according to a complete city administrative framework, with the train taking the lead.

This would take a lot of time, but the train’s repairs wouldn’t be completed quickly either.

As for the scavengers’ dissatisfaction and resistance...

They weren’t deemed important enough to be raised at the meeting.

”If you have any questions, you can bring them up now.”

Su Huan’s clear voice sent a chill through everyone’s heart.

By now, everything had been decided, leaving no room for discussion.

The hall immediately buzzed with whispered conversations.

Wen Biao’s eyes turned fervent as he looked at Li Xinlong, ”Brother, you’re amazing. In the future, you’ll have to look after me...”

Li Xinlong was already dazed by the good fortune that had fallen from the sky. Although he sensed he might gain some benefits, he hadn’t expected such a huge piece of meat.

Right off the bat, he was elevated from a convoy leader of 2,000 to a mayor overseeing 100,000!

Before the apocalypse, 100,000 was just an unremarkable small county, not even daring to call itself a city without a population of millions.

But this was the apocalypse!

Being in charge of a Base City with 100,000 people was enough to influence the course of human civilization.

Even if he did nothing else, being the mayor of the Base City established during humanity’s first counteroffensive against a large city ensured he’d make history!

The vast swath of information overwhelmed Li Xinlong, leaving him unsure of how to respond to Wen Biao.

Various relationships, factors, and influences swirled in his mind.

On the other side, Old Yang frantically signaled to President Jinfeng, who pretended not to see.

Old Yang pulled his arm twice in anxiety, ”President, say something, you damn well better say something! If you don’t speak up, everything’s over.”

Before the armed train’s arrival, Jinfeng Chamber of Commerce had already lost its vanguard, and half of its central forces were wiped out in the cleanup wars.

They brought 8,000 people and now only half remain; the losses were tragic.

Entire populations of dozens of small factions went down effortlessly.

Resources and ammunition were incalculably consumed.

If they couldn’t even sip a taste of the soup post-war, the remaining 4,000 would scatter, and their vast enterprise of six months would be mostly gone after one meeting, not allowing him not to be anxious.

President Jinfeng’s heart bled, but he reassured his old partner, nodding towards the person opposite.

The leader of Tiejian City sat across, face grim.

Jinfeng Chamber of Commerce had depths, losing most still left something, but Tiejian City was utterly decimated.

Although the ”Tiejian City” block was reclaimed, everyone was dead; a building meant nothing.

The only reason Tiejian City wasn’t delisted yet was due to this Tier One Evolver standing firm.

The other had already established a separate faction.

”Everyone involved in the battle deserves to enjoy the spoils of victory.”

The leader of Tiejian City’s cold voice echoed, instantly silencing the room to a pin drop.

Though no one dared to speak, this sentence represented everyone’s unspoken thoughts.

Everyone looked at the train conductor, eager to see how he would handle this situation.

Su Huan looked in the direction of the voice, seeing a lean man with short hair, a cold expression, and an aura of perpetual malice.

Su Huan was not angry, smiling, and said, ”To correct, only the victors have the right to enjoy the spoils of victory.”

With that, his gentle gaze swept the room.

”Here, only the armed train is the victor.”

”And you are the spoils of victory.”
