Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Luo Jingyi had always lived in a small shelter in Zhijin City, completely ignorant of what the other party was talking about.

Hearing this word, his mind was instantly filled with questions.

He wanted to ask more, but found the other party already impatient.

The sunlight was scorching his neck, while his back was fiery from running.

Luo Jingyi stayed silent, suppressed his speed, and followed behind the crowd, ready to scatter and escape at any moment. With his Tier One strength, no matter how he ran, he was always the most likely to survive.

A rumbling dull sound accompanied by a stench surged from the front. Luo Jingyi looked up and saw a Tier One Night Demon clinging to the nearby doorway.

His heart was suddenly shocked, but before the thrill could subside, the Night Demon had already swept over everyone’s heads, sprinting directly into the distance.

”The train is coming!”

Luo Jingyi looked along with the sound, and the sunset cut a terrifying scene.

Countless Tier One zombies emerged from all corners of the city, gathering like birds returning to the nest on the train’s path. As the train passed, they crazily pounced, grabbing windows and triangular crash bars, piling up on the surface of the train, while issuing threatening roars to people inside and madly using their bodies to knock the armor.

The train was indifferent to the ”lice” on its body.

Bluish electromagnetic rail guns pierced the sky, tearing and burning the corpse horde, then penetrated buildings, crashed into the city.

Thick gray smoke simultaneously rose within hundreds of meters.

High-explosive shells closely followed, burrowing into the densely packed corpse horde, then exploding at the center, waves of flesh and rubble splashed ten meters high, iron-gray limbs scattered like raindrops throughout the city, viscous black blood winding down building walls.

Tottering buildings either became riddled with holes or collapsed with a bang in the sound of artillery fire.

Hundreds and thousands of zombies were sent off by artillery and collapsing buildings before even seeing the train.

Clearly, most zombies hadn’t surpassed the limits of carbon-based creatures; in front of weapons pushed to extremes by humanity, they didn’t perform better than other creatures. In fact, due to their low intelligence and greedy flesh, their losses were greater.

You couldn’t even call this a war.

The armored train’s purpose was merely to open a path in the city, and the zombies’ flesh and blood couldn’t compare to the hardness of steel-reinforced concrete buildings.

Seeing the armored train’s crushing manner, the scavengers following behind gained immense confidence, shouting slogans like ”Armored Train” and ”Savior” as they rushed into the battlefield opened by the train.

...

Armored Train Carriage 13.

An old man stood at the window, wearing a white knit shirt underneath a Mickey-colored jacket, his figure upright, gazing absent-mindedly at a blood mark on the window in front of him.

A gentle, restrained voice came, ”Even from this distance, I can hear those cheers.”

Director Xu turned to look at this new friend he’d made on the train, instinctively scanning details like the other’s hairstyle, collar, sleeves, until he found the person was as well-dressed as himself, allowing a negligible sense of relaxation to flicker in his eyes.

Professor Ma naturally noticed his small actions, shaking his head helplessly.

This little old man is very particular, not only meticulous about his attire, but also demanding of friends’ outfits. Though he wouldn’t voice it, if displeased, he’d ignore you.

Among the train’s top ranks, Director Xu was one of the most unique individuals.

”He became a savior.”

Director Xu’s voice was neither sorrowful nor joyful, as if reporting a piece of information.

Professor Ma, holding a warm coffee, approached him. The mechanical arm washed the blood stain off the window with clean water, allowing them to see outside more clearly, ”Isn’t this great?”

One zombie after another charged at the train, then were shot and fell by automatic firearms.

Even those zombies lucky enough to reach the top could only gaze blankly at the train’s bare deck.

Neither the ironwood making up the deck nor the train’s repeatedly upgraded Tier One armor were easy lines for agile zombies to breach.

Director Xu’s tone rose, filled with absurdity, ”He became a savior?”

He still remembered the big fire at the Steel Council and the terrifying zombie roar.

The instigator had transformed, becoming the savior in people’s words.

Though he didn’t consider himself principled, this identity shift didn’t sit well with him; he even wanted to open his head, showing the ranting scavengers outside the terrifying scene where the train was breached by hordes of zombies.

Professor Ma took a sip of coffee, smiling, ”Why couldn’t it be him?”

Director Xu was stunned.

His brows tightly knit.

A moment later, the little old man carried an indescribable determination, ”Then I could do it too!”

Professor Ma chuckled, ”We’re so old, why still competing with young people?”

Director Xu said indifferently, ”What’s wrong with sixty? It’s the perfect time to fight!”

Professor Ma: ”...”

...

Thirty kilometers outside Zhijin City.

Two individuals without any identifiers lay on a high-rise building, using binoculars to observe the situation in Zhijin City.

”That’s over five million zombies. Letting them out, within three months the Storm Zone wouldn’t quiet down. What’s Black Kite thinking?”

”Heard Black Kite’s got no brain.”

The partner lay beside, chewing gum.

”How could the highest director have no brain...”

”I meant literally brainless, did experiments and cut it out.”
