Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Chapter 350: Chapter 240: Cultivation Pod (Part 2)

Vice President Deng patted his chest and said, ”Absolutely no problem, the remaining internal facilities can be modified on the go, it won’t delay things.”

”Alright, then let’s proceed according to the plan!”

Su Huan walked forward.

Shu Wei jogged a few steps to catch up and whispered, ”Colonel He Jie said that when we left, a group of New Eden personnel attacked the construction site. They are currently detained downstairs. Should we go take a look?”

Su Huan licked his teeth, ”Let’s go check on my tree first!”

...

Three days had passed in a flash, and Yu Jing’s new material was still in development.

Experiments, by nature, have only two states: in development and producing results.

As for progress, it always remains in an uncertain state.

No one knows if the next second will bring a mishap.

Since the outbreak of the apocalypse, Yu Jing spent most of her time on the train without the worries of other survivors about food and shelter, but even so, it only took three months to develop three to five new materials.

A variety of discarded products could fill half a train carriage.

The only good news was that the Crown Pear tree under Li Han’s care was surviving well.

Three days were spent digging and drying the soil and performing simple composting.

The pear tree is currently placed in a ”big bowl” on the top floor.

Once the cultivation chamber is formed, it can be directly transferred up there.

The Crown Pear tree isn’t standing alone; due to its strong ecological influence, Li Han and Huang Sea selected some plants to be planted beside the Crown Pear tree.

Two small pear trees were also planted nearby.

However, this did not slow down the decline of the Crown Pear tree. Based on Li Han’s experience, accumulating some Evolution Beasts and evolutionary materials can slow down the rate of decline.

Many experts agreed that it might be an issue of Pan-energy concentration.

They suggested burying Pan-energy Crystals into the soil.

Then Su Huan used a more efficient method; he sat directly under the tree, releasing pure Pan-energy.

After a day and night of release, the Crown Pear tree’s condition finally stopped deteriorating and began to recover slowly.

The bare branches also started to grow new buds.

Huang Sea and Li Han were busy grafting a small pear back onto the tree.

Worried about the situation recurring, Su Huan simply did not leave for two days, keeping the Pan-energy concentration under the tree.

By the fifth day, Yu Jing’s new material finally showed results.

As a Tier One material, this material is between green steel and titanium steel in weight, characterized by extremely high toughness.

It’s somewhat similar to the pearly layers of a shell, with a layered structure of nanocrystals that disperse stress through microscopic sliding upon impact, preventing brittle fracture.

Moreover, this material has some absorption properties for lightning.

However, it cannot be retained for too long.

Because it is a new material produced by combining crab shells with steel, in the same series as green steel and titanium steel.

Therefore, it is named Tier One Armor Steel.

The cultivation chamber has begun the large-scale shell application phase.

The original three thousand survivors and the two thousand people from Iron Mountain Shelter are reallocated based on ability.

All Makers and a small number of Gatherers belong to Yu Jing. Recently, He Jie led the Armed Corps to clear nearby Evolution Beasts; whether surviving upstairs or sunk at the bottom of water, all must be retrieved.

The generator plant has turned into a slaughterhouse, with various corpses being collected and processed.

The rest follow the command of the plant manager and others, crafting the cultivation chamber upstairs.

During this time, the brothers Qi Zhendong had adapted to the work rhythm of the armed train.

Perhaps because of kinship, the armed train didn’t implement any supervision; instead, each conductor led a group of survivors to work. Although someone occasionally slacked off, the efficiency was incredibly high.

On the second day of work, the two brothers were puzzled why they didn’t stop working.

The conductor gave him a strange look.

They told him to wait a little longer.

Several conductors swapped in and out, but they never stopped working again.

”Even the production team’s donkey doesn’t work like this!”

Qi Zhenbang cursed angrily.

Qi Zhendong looked up left and right, whispering, ”Today is the shift change, there should be a longer break.”

”What’s the use of that? Still have to work, I can endure, but I’m worried about dad’s health...”

”Dad’s fine.”

Qi Zhenbang was taken aback, ”How do you know?”

”I’ve seen, Dad works just eight hours a day, even wants to work more but isn’t allowed, takes Xiaodong with him back home.”

”It’s quite humane, that kid Xiaodong is lucky there.”

”Not sure who is benefitting who.”

Qi Zhenbang was silent for a moment, gradually realizing the implication.

Ever since the shelter incident, his father had kept Xiaodong by his side. Initially thought it was to protect the child, now it seems like nurturing a successor.

”I haven’t had much contact with Xiaodong, but from what I’ve seen, he has a good character, just a bit naive.”

”Dad sees things clearer than us, well, while there’s some time, I’ll take a walk.”

Qi Zhenbang felt the light twist, and his second brother disappeared before him.

He could only whisper a reminder, ”Be careful.”

Qi Zhendong lightly responded but didn’t care much in his heart. He had used his ability to sneak a peek at his father twice during this time, without attracting anyone’s attention.

He had grown less reverent towards the armed train.

He hesitated about whether to check the sensitive parts within the train.

”This guy is quite filial, taking time to go see his dad.”

Tong Zizhan sighed.

Beside him, Gao Yuan fiddled with a ring in confusion, quickly realizing who the other was talking about. His eyes carefully scanned below, roughly determining Qi Zhendong’s position.
