Armed Train in the Apocalypse

”It should be a new minor power emerging after the apocalypse, with its gathering place on a small island in the middle of ’Jingchao Lake.”

Upon hearing the words religious power, Su Huan’s eyes suddenly flickered, interrupting, ”Have you ever heard of a power called the Mechanical God Cult?”

Shu Wei recalled for a moment, then decisively stated, ”No, all leading powers before the apocalypse transformed from companies or special agencies, none had religious tones, including those long-inherited by Donghuang, none of them are involved.”

The Mechanical God Cult was a major power in the previous life, he originally thought it was a forerunner like Deep Blue Data and Black Kite.

Unexpectedly, the latter turned out to be a new force emerging after the apocalypse.

That’s interesting.

To catch up with these large companies rapidly in a few short years after the apocalypse, ”religious power” itself is unusual.

Another important clue was touched upon.

Su Huan smiled happily.

He was going to see where these monsters and demons could hide.

Nearby, Shu Wei saw the sinister smile on Su Huan’s face and resisted the urge to question further, continuing to report.

”There are two hundred and sixteen surviving local residents in Nanshan Heights, four Evolvers, two special talents, and some food and living supplies upstairs. How will this be handled?”

Su Huan raised his brows, ”Why are there so few Evolvers?”

”Most were killed by Chen Lei and others.”

”Oh, the tough ones were killed, leaving a bunch of weaklings...”

He had seen this many times before, in this crazy world, surviving without losing something was impossible.

In the past, he would’ve let them board the train, but now the train’s population is saturated, operating in a self-sufficient state, so naturally, Su Huan wouldn’t want these burdens.

Just as he was about to say to let these people stay where they were found, Shu Wei suggested.

”Maybe we can establish a station in the Flood Zone like at Shun’an Station.”

”I went through great trouble to build a station, a flood comes and washes it away immediately, it would be better to let them follow the train in a couple of small boats, let them explore whenever there are whirlpools or sea monsters...”

While speaking, Su Huan felt this idea was quite good.

Previously stuck in a cognitive error, he was releasing tasks targeting only passengers, but there was no necessity to let them board.

As long as the train could provide what they want, they could be driven via task release to do some underwater digging, or road exploration that both wastes people and lives.

This method is good, no need to feed them, nor waste train space.

Just like the relationship between rhinoceroses and cattle egrets, where the latter helps the former pick off parasites, and the former provides them with a stable food source.

”Let the manufacturing and research teams study things like small boats, they just need to float, no need for propellers, give them a rope, just tether it to the train, then find some small tasks for them to start with, after lying around for so many days, they need to warm up to avoid not being able to eat later.”

Su Huan said clearly while pinching his chin.

This speech made Shu Wei’s eyelids twitch wildly.

To float?

Tether with a rope?

It sounds like baiting fish before fishing...

With the things in the water, can these two hundred people survive until tomorrow morning?

Previously thought that driving people to dig pits that night was already tyrannical, but now it seems he was quite gentle to his own people...

Shu Wei, considering herself cold-hearted, even felt guilty for those two hundred survivors.

If it weren’t for her mention, they would have been left upstairs already.

But they might not necessarily survive either.

Yet they wouldn’t die so bluntly.

While she was recording, a message appeared on the tablet.

”Director Xu hopes you can go over quickly, the life force of the Crown Pear tree is slowly declining.”

...

Li Han lay numbly on the floor, his hands spread out to the sides, his face carelessly pressed against the ground, even though he could vaguely smell the dampness of ironwood and water, he had no intention of getting up.

He had never found lying down to be such a pleasant thing, as for cleanliness, aesthetics, and dignity, he didn’t care about them at all.

”Get up!”

Li Han felt someone calling him.

But his sluggish nerves had no desire to move.

Anyway, survival wasn’t guaranteed, in the last moments of life, he would rather be comfortable.

Half a day passed without movement.

Perhaps that person was becoming impatient, what might be waiting for him?

A soldier’s gun?

Li Han barely turned over, facing upwards to see if his suspicion was correct.

Unexpectedly, in view were two towering figures and a face with a hint of seriousness.

Before he could react, a hard object was stuffed into his mouth.

After his dry throat rolled for a moment, a long-lost sweetness emerged in his mouth.

”I can give you some water, blink if you need it, and if possible, it’s best to stand up before the colonel comes, proving you’re healthy...”

The Mongoose whispered a reminder.

While Li Han was dazed, He Jie already strode over, standing behind her.

”What are you doing?”

The Mongoose calmly said, ”He seems to have some low blood sugar.”

He Jie didn’t care about that, and would not miss any chance to mock the Mongoose, ”I thought you were flirting with him, and as for you, you pretending-to-be-dead pretty boy, the train won’t waste a single pill on you, but I wouldn’t mind sending you a bullet, get up within three counts, or I’ll shoot you!”

Then he turned and shouted to everyone on the deck, ”Same for you all, after three counts, if you don’t get up you’ll be shot and thrown to feed the fish!”

”Three!”

He Jie bit the half-cut cigar, and a low roar rolled out from his throat.

Pulled a pistol from the holster, and swiftly loaded it with one hand.

Li Han’s sluggish brain hadn’t comprehended what was happening, suddenly felt a huge force from his shoulder, and when he came back to his senses, he found he was already standing up.

”One!”

”Bang!”

Li Han was startled and looked down.

A 9mm bullet was embedded in the ironwood deck.

The spot was precisely where his head had been lying, the water traces on his head were still there.

If he hadn’t been pulled up just a moment ago, he would be dead now.

Realizing this, cold sweat already seeped down Li Han’s back.

He Jie sneered, knocked Li Han’s forehead with the gun barrel, ”Kid, you lucked out.”

Then headed towards the crowd behind.

Passing by a fat man who was still lying on the ground, he aimed directly at the forehead and fired.

This scene made the other slow-moving survivors quickly get up.

Only then did Li Han gratefully look at the Mongoose, ”…Thank you, my name is Li Han.”

The Mongoose shook her head and walked forward, ”He never counts the number two, remember the train’s rules, when they’re killing people, there’s no mercy, keep any thoughts hidden, survival is everything, I am now called Mongoose.”

’Mongoose.’

Li Han silently repeated the name twice in his heart, remembering it.

Afterward, these soldiers didn’t create trouble.

Instead, they brought some water to them, very little, about enough to fill a disposable cup per person, barely quenching thirst.

Li Han held it in his mouth for a long time before slowly swallowing.

The cool water slid into his stomach, instantly triggering a rumble.

Every cell in his body felt activated, a tremendous hunger hit him, he felt like he could eat a cow now.

But the train didn’t distribute food, instead, each was given two candies.

Because he was towards the front, he got two small pieces of chocolate, later on, there were various soft candies, hard candies, even some who got popping candy.

Moreover, there was a small piece of a transparent crystal about the size of a fingernail.

Nothing was said about its purpose.

After drinking the water and eating the chocolate, Li Han felt his energy return greatly, still ravenously hungry, but not as helplessly on the brink of death as before.

Seeing everyone seemed fine, He Jie gave a signal to Licking Rabbit beside him.

The latter held up a Tier One Pan-energy Crystal and spoke to the crowd, ”Now what you’re holding is the key tool to becoming an Evolver!”

”Next, I will teach you how to use it, I’ll only explain once, listen carefully!”

Originally confused, Li Han’s gaze suddenly sharpened, gripping the Pan-energy Crystal tightly in his hand.

This is the method to become an Evolver!

The people in the neighborhood committee, and Chen Lei, are able to wield power because they are Evolvers!

He always thought becoming an Evolver was a random awakening, but unexpectedly, it’s dependent on using a tool.

Even more unbelievable, the train actually distributed such a precious tool to them!

Over two hundred people!
