Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Chapter 338: Chapter 235: As Long as It Takes, Do It That Long

The barrier between Tier Three and Tier Four is a significant one.

In the previous life, both He Jie and the deceased Zhong Cheng were stuck at this stage.

At that time, it was puzzling because, with the resources of the Steel Council, they could have easily pushed He Jie and others to Tier Four.

Now it seems to be a limitation of life force and basic attributes.

Especially life force, when the limit is there and cannot be increased, there’s nothing one can do.

However, these are not issues for Su Huan.

What he needs to do now is balance the speed of advancement and the rate of life force consumption, to avoid advancing too quickly and overextending life force before the Crown Pear Tree is cultivated.

This is also the dilemma of a talent, isn’t it?

Thinking of this, Su Huan subconsciously raised his head to look at Lin Jin opposite him.

This guy has awakened every skill so precisely, and his life force is so strong.

Could it be that these potentially Tier Five Evolvers have life force equivalent to a Crown Pear Tree?

Just not sure how much of the Crown Pear effect can be achieved by directly consuming them...

Lin Jin, who was eating, suddenly felt a chill as he sensed the conductor looking at him oddly, especially with the crunching chewing sounds making him uneasy.

Steady footsteps echoed in the metal corridor outside.

Old Hu, wearing a striped knit sweater, strode in and stood about a meter to Su Huan’s right, ensuring he could be seen from the corner of the conductor’s eye, before starting to report.

”The crab tide has completely receded, amassing over fifty thousand units of evolutionary materials, with over a hundred Tier One units and two Tier Two ones. Currently, the research and production groups are advancing the ’Floating Timber’ project at the generator plant, but due to efficiency issues with the Pan-energy Crystal collection, there might be significant wastage.”

Su Huan frowned, spitting out a piece of crab shell.

”Waste is not a good habit; aren’t there more than five thousand people in the shelter downstairs?”

Old Hu whispered, ”The survivors in the shelter are very dissatisfied with us and are currently targeting the Qi Family.”

”Discontent with the Qi Family?”

Su Huan was a bit surprised.

Wasn’t the shelter quite supportive of the Qi Family? How did they become dissatisfied so quickly?

Old Hu paused for a moment, casting a meaningful glance at Lao San who was eating opposite him. Lao San, with a face like a pig’s head, rolled his eyes, pretending not to notice, but didn’t slow down his eating.

The people aren’t angry with the Qi Family; they are furious and resentful of the rampant killing by the armed train. But unable to reach the train, they can only direct their frustration at the actual controllers of the shelter, the Qi Family.

Yet, Old Hu, being a straightforward person, who valued doing things appropriately, naturally wouldn’t shift the blame onto colleagues right in front of the conductor.

So he briefly mentioned Qi Zhiyuan’s anger towards Qi Jian Country.

”Is Qi Jian Country a colonel?”

”No, just a lieutenant colonel, who later retired due to some issues.”

”When was that?”

”I heard it was a year ago.”

”A lieutenant colonel from a year ago, wouldn’t he have had access...”

Su Huan pondered while cracking the hard crab claw in his hand.

The giraffe hesitated for a moment and then spoke.

”This rank is somewhat mediocre. In some special units, officers outnumber soldiers; only those with stars on their shoulders reach that level. Once they retire, it’s useful outside, but don’t expect them to know much.”

Mountain Goat, Qu Hang, and the others nodded in agreement.

”We are merely preparing, but exactly what happened, what we must do, and why we must do it, we are entirely unaware.”

”You’ll never know the situation without being on site.”

Seeing that Su Huan appeared to be lost in thought, Old Hu quickly asked, ”And what about the Qi Family?”

”What does their dissatisfaction with the Qi Family have to do with me? I’m a Tier Two Evolver, and after working overnight to protect their entire shelter from a disaster, shouldn’t I get some appearance fee?”

”Don’t bother discussing too many useless things with them, just find Iron Old Man, who’s a sensible person, and remind him to finish what he promised me quickly.”

”What if they don’t cooperate?”

Old Hu asked.

Su Huan naturally understood that Old Hu was asking about his boundaries.

But now his patience was worn thin by the crabs, leaving him in no mood to educate anyone. After being out for two days, he wasn’t sure how things were going with the factory manager and Yu Jing.

The sooner he got what he needed, the sooner he could return.

”Then have Lao San assist.”

”Understood.”

Old Hu continued, ”The cannons loaded onto the train have been inspected, totaling six: four mortars and two howitzers, with a range from seven to twenty-four kilometers, mainly relying on an automatic fire control system, but with mechanical aiming retained, just slower.”

Su Huan’s brows lifted with joy, having always been subjected to artillery, finally having some of his own felt like justice.

”How’s their condition, are they usable?”

Qu Hang suddenly asked from opposite.

”They aren’t brand new, but well-maintained. Currently, without the production team, they can’t be installed.”

Mountain Goat stood up, ”What do we need the production team for? Playing with guns and artillery, they might not be more professional than us.”

Old Hu was slightly surprised, ”If they are to be installed on the train, a comprehensive inspection is needed; mere usability isn’t enough.”

”Then let Qu Hang assist, he will be under your command.”

Su Huan directly appointed.

These elite soldiers were all hexagonal warriors.

Take Mountain Goat, for example. Though his combat power is unremarkable, being chosen by the Steel Council certainly means possessing some unconventional skills.

Mountain Goat and his companion put down their bowls and left to execute the task.

”Anything else?”
