Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Chapter 313: Chapter 223: Are You Praying?

But the lower body had turned into a mass of tentacles like octopus arms, crowded together, making one’s scalp tingle.

A howl erupted from its mouth.

The sharp sound waves pushed the water away, echoing layer upon layer within the building.

The surrounding soldiers instantly clutched their ears in pain.

Shu Wei, observing from above, waved a hand, creating a large vacuum area that covered most of the region.

Only a portion transmitted from the ground beneath, but it was significantly weakened.

Lin Jin’s eyes instantly turned blood red, and invisible flames emerged from the void, swiftly covering the water’s surface, as if it were not water but gasoline below.

Brilliant flames surged up, orange-red on the outer ring, and a deep, eerie blue in the center.

They surrounded the zombie at the center.

”Blast the hell out of it for me!”

He Jie’s furious roar even drowned out the zombie’s sharp screeching.

He took the rocket launcher from his subordinate and fired it at the zombie in the center.

Simultaneously, Pang Tu also fired his rocket launcher.

”Boom-boom—”

Two explosions sounded one after another, interrupting the zombie’s roar and breaking through the barrier Shu Wei had set up, causing the papers in Su Huan’s hand to flutter noisily.

Su Huan glanced twice before looking away. ”A Tier Two Zombie not recorded in the database. Study it well. By the way, where were we just now?”

”Forget it. No need to say. I trust your professionalism; just start working.”

Su Huan handed the papers to Shu Wei beside him and then focused his attention on the battle below.

The other soldiers recovered, picked up their guns, and aimed at the Tier Two Zombie in the center to shoot.

Everyone’s shooting angle was slightly downward to avoid hitting their comrades on the opposite side.

From above, it seemed as though the Tier Two Zombie was entangled in countless lines of fire.

But its smooth, gray-white skin was like high-strength soft armor; regular bullets slid off upon impact.

Only the heavy sniper rifles could leave large bowl-sized holes in its smooth skin.

The intense damage drove the zombie even more frenzied, crashing into the surroundings like a headless fly.

Unfortunately, it was unlucky, choosing the side facing Xiaoba.

As one of the few operators in the armed train, if Lin Jin represented the strongest offense, then Xiaoba represented the strongest defense.

Xiaoba’s eyes, usually black and white, turned metallic, like two steel marbles.

Under the propulsion of ”Metal Construct,” the metal hidden within the room scrambled out, constructing a multi-layered defensive structure in front of the zombie.

”Bang!”

The zombie crashed into it with great force.

Looking at the obstacles that appeared out of thin air, the faint intelligence left it momentarily confused.

Then it frantically lashed its tentacles against the fortifications.

Although the basic strength of a Tier Two Zombie was enough to tear through steel, it was still helpless against this ever-changing metal structure.

It would tear one part away, and Xiaoba would promptly patch it up.

If it was one-on-one, Xiaoba would undoubtedly win in the end.

But now, it was up against half of the Armed Corps.

A streak of blue trajectory suddenly appeared in the air, and the zombie’s gray-white head turned to a pile of mush in an instant.

In the corner, Yu Yue’s agile figure flickered out of sight.

Whether successful or not, a sniper should always develop the habit of changing positions.

Although Su Huan only mentioned it once, Yu Yue executed it flawlessly.

”Huh?”

Su Huan’s eyes followed the figure of the Tier Two Zombie in the field.

Its head had turned to pulp, yet it hadn’t fallen!

Even Su Huan had never seen such a strange zombie before.

”What about trying the heart?”

A curious voice transmitted to the battlefield below, and the zombie seemed to notice something, slapping the water’s surface with its tentacles, attempting to leap towards Su Huan.

But in the next moment, the violent crack of the heavy sniper interrupted the zombie’s leap, causing it to stagger several meters back, a bowl-sized scar appearing on its chest, though the body was not penetrated by the 12.7mm bullet.

Qu Hang frowned, pulled the bolt, aimed at the same spot, and fired again.

Sensing the threat, the Tier Two Zombie instinctively tried to dodge, but it seemed the air had formed many invisible barriers, forcing it to take the shot head-on.

Its left chest was pierced, and the bullet exited through the scapula.

Yet the zombie was far from dead; instead, it used the momentum to leap to the other side.

It leaped directly onto the second floor.

Besides the soldiers of the Armed Corps, there were also many newly arrived survivors.

They filled every corner of the building, cleaning up the battlefield left by the soldiers while scavenging anything that could be exchanged for points.

This segment of defense was led by Lu Xiao.

Originally enjoying the spectacle, Lu Xiao suddenly realized the zombie was about to jump in his face; cursing inwardly, he nevertheless braced himself to meet it head-on.

Just then, a sturdy figure jumped up from the floor below, like a famished tiger on the hunt, carrying a fierce, redolent gust towards the zombie.

”Boom—”

A muffled impact that made one’s teeth ache.

Liang Kuan, holding his shield, was knocked flying, and the upper half of the Tier Two Zombie fell backward sharply, its tentacles quickly propping itself up before its body could hit the ground, already stabilizing itself.

Yet Liang Kuan’s support bought Lu Xiao a moment to catch his breath, allowing him to toss aside his assault rifle, now holding only half its bullets.

He drew two modified pistols from his waist.

His eyes gleamed sharply.

He fired decisively at the approaching tentacles.

”Bang! Bang!”

The sounds reverberated like thunder within the floor.

Seeing the tentacles sever in response, a surge of joy filled him; Boss hadn’t deceived him after all.

The power of these guns was almost comparable to hand cannons!

But before his joy could dissipate, a sound of something cutting through the air was already above him.

”Boom... ”

His whole body flew out like a ragged cloth.

It smashed through a thin wall, life or death unknown.

”Brother Xiao!”

In a sudden, drastic turn, no one had time to react; only Xiaoma belatedly shouted in grief and anger.

There wasn’t even time to raise his gun.

He was lashed into pieces by the tentacles, a deep bloody mark appearing on his chest.

Everything happened in an instant, even Su Huan watching from the rooftop barely had time to intervene.

The zombie being hunted had already caused three casualties.

Facing the Tier Two Zombie were now only ordinary soldiers of the Armed Corps and survivors cleaning the battlefield.

He Jie, Lin Jin, and others charged over frantically.

If this thing broke into the regular troops and survivors, it would be outright slaughter!

Li Han looked up at the frightening figure three meters tall before him, inexplicably reminded of the monster that slaughtered an entire building that night, its shadow cast on the wall equally towering, equally cold!

The powerful biofield had him firmly rooted in place.

He felt like seeing a tiger three meters away, triggering an instinctual freeze response like a rabbit.

Even the concept of fear hadn’t arisen, as his muscles stiffened, and his mind went blank.

”Run!”

A familiar scolding voice suddenly came by his ear, accompanied by the familiar dragging sensation from his shoulder.

Li Han stumbled back, watching the mongoose charge towards the zombie.

Somehow, he suddenly felt aware of his limbs, stabilizing his rear foot on the ground as the vine on his wrist rapidly grew, attaching to the mongoose’s dark green combat uniform waist.

Fast-thinking, Li Han calculated.

’With her speed, she should be able to hold off the creature for a moment, allowing other officers to assist; I only need to pull her at the critical moment...’

”Boom!”

The mongoose flew backward at an even faster speed.

The splattering blood instantly dyed his pupils red.

Feeling the great force from his wrist, Li Han had no chance of resistance, tumbling in the mongoose’s direction.

He hadn’t even seen how the mongoose lost.

The surroundings whizzed by rapidly, everything a blur, yet the Tier Two Zombie’s form became vividly clear.

Its blood-red eyes were filled with ruthless killing intent.

This creature had surpassed everything he thought possible.

Even his instincts refused to send him a death warning.

The tentacles loomed larger before his eyes.

Li Han calmly closed his eyes, feeling he’d lived enough by now.

The only pity was squandering the mongoose’s efforts.

”Are you praying?”

A slightly perplexed voice resonated by his ear.
