Armed Train in the Apocalypse

By the time the battlefield was cleaned up, it was already dusk with the remaining twilight.

The golden light gently soothed the ruined city, and amidst rippling water, the Alps Hammer slowly pushed aside debris in the water.

The noise stirred zombies on both sides of the buildings, hurried footsteps sounded, heads emerged from broken windows, but before they could let out a howl, the sniper on the train shot them in the head.

Occasionally, slip-ups were directly killed by a large drone equipped with an assault rifle.

If there were rare Tier One Zombies, they were placed on the deck, naturally for Xiaoba and the others to harvest.

Yu Jing and the Boss led the manufacturing team on the deck to deconstruct materials, with excess flesh directly grabbed by mechanical arms and thrown into the water, disappearing shortly after.

The end of the mechanical arm was switched to a nozzle, washing away blood stains on the deck, making it instantly clean.

Gunshots, waves, sunset… the joy of harvest, beautiful beyond words.

Su Huan sat cross-legged at the front of the train, Shu Wei stood three meters behind, dressed in a black professional suit, although the clothes were chosen by Yu Yue to fit his daughter’s figure, it was somewhat tight at the chest.

Bai Lu and the Giraffe held guns, pretending to guard the sides of the train conductor.

After trying for some time, Shu Wei’s position as a secretary stabilized within the train.

There were some late shift factors, but not absolutely so.

The secretary position was too important, the train conductor valued ability more. If Shu Wei didn’t perform well, shifts were necessary, but she’d be kicked off nonetheless.

However, for now, she’s doing quite well.

She maintained relations with everyone, neither too close nor distant, with all conductors, including He Jie and the others giving positive feedback on Shu Wei.

Unexpectedly, Shu Wei was keeping a good relationship with Yu Yue.

Perhaps a tacit understanding formed through alternating shifts, but for now, Su Huan didn’t want to disrupt it.

Up four, down three, seven days and nights, precisely forty-nine, enough to refine a major remedy with the energy lost by the train conductor.

The two women not only showed no signs of trouble, their complexion even looked brighter.

Seeing the surrounding skyscrapers no longer densely packed, Su Huan intoned, ”Are we about to leave the city?”

Shu Wei glanced at the map on the tactical tablet, swiftly replied, ”Yes, in twenty minutes we’ll be leaving Guan Chong City.”

After Professor Ma’s busy period, the tablet in her hand was already connected to the train system and database; as long as it’s within a kilometer, communication with the train remains achievable.

However, the armed train didn’t have the capability to independently produce this kind of tablet, so it’s the only device on the train capable of wireless communication she has.

Regarding the communication equipment on their six exoskeletons, it’s still under modification.

Her finger tapping the tablet suddenly paused, a hint of surprise flickered in Shu Wei’s eyes.

Su Huan, back turned to her, calmly asked, ”What’s wrong?”

”According to the command platform detection, survivors have appeared ahead again.”

”Again?”

Su Huan’s gaze turned dangerous.

”According to the drone’s close observation, it’s genuine this time.” Shu Wei quickly brought up the footage, handed the tablet to Su Huan, ”They’re trapped on a tall building outside the city area, presumably survivors from Guan Chong City.”

Su Huan took the tablet, perhaps due to being held by the woman for a long time, carried a faint scent of cedar and bitter orange.

He glanced at it, a residential complex of about thirty stories, totaling four buildings, facing each other in pairs.

Due to its higher terrain, not many floors were submerged, even at the worst, just around five floors.

Now that the flood waters had receded somewhat, it remains at the third floor.

Numerous survivors were gathered within, waving at the drone in mid-air.

”Finally seeing a living person, are there large deep-sea worms underwater?”

Su Huan asked a supplementary question.

Although those creatures don’t pose much threat to the train, but being dragged down and held for a fortnight would also be quite a hindrance.

”There’s one underwater, similar to the one we encountered before, with weak energy fluctuations incapable of threatening the train.”

”Change course, go have a look, and stop by Director Xu’s to get something for me.”

...

With twilight fading, an unknown wind stirred so the water swayed.

The deep waters concealed unknown entities, debris floated for a while then fell.

Li Han, at the sixteenth floor, glanced out the window then quickly retreated, the hunger in his belly long turned into a numb emptiness, neither feeling hunger nor the stomach’s presence, limbs heavy, no matter how long he slept, his eyelids fought.

Pounding door noises in the corridor abruptly awakened Li Han.

Struggling to get up from the balcony, he went to the door, opening the security door before they could kick it.

A group of six came walking down the corridor wielding batons and long knives, the leader a man with disheveled beard, eyes sinister, though empty-handed, bulging at the waist.

They kicked the room doors along the way, ”Get out, Brother Lei has something to say. Anyone not coming out, if we find you later, we’ll break your legs and feed them to zombies!”

Li Han dared not make eye contact with that group, lowered his head, silently standing inside by the open door.

”Hey, Brother Lei, this one’s quite sensible.”

A tall and burly fellow poked Li Han’s shoulder with the baton.

Chen Lei’s sinister gaze scanned Li Han like a steel blade, finding nothing unusual, he moved ahead.

The baton-wielding guy craned his neck to look inside the room, confirmed there wasn’t anything worthwhile, then roughly shoved Li Han, ”Head up to the top floor, don’t keep Brother Lei waiting.”

”Got it.”

Li Han replied weakly.
