Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Chapter 98: Chapter 95: Overnight Emergency Repairs

Su Huan was taken aback and got up to walk to the window.

The moment the steel blinds opened a crack, acid rain poured into the compartment noisily.

An electric arc flashed across his fingertips, and in that instant, he saw the situation outside clearly.

——The railway became an ocean, with murky streams carrying debris flowing beneath the gravel, the train seemingly trapped like a solitary boat in the heart of a river.

The acid rain poured down, the sound deafening.

Such torrential acid rain happened once in his past life too, but back then he was a lone wolf, finding any high-rise building to hide for a couple of days until it passed, subconsciously not taking it seriously.

But now, he was already in charge of a train with over a thousand people, and to maintain his plan, he had to manage the train properly.

Glancing at his watch, it was 03:35 AM, and the logbook on the table had yet to be closed.

The handwriting at the end of what he wrote last night was smeared with a stain.

”Who exactly is trying to harm me...”

Without a change in expression, he closed the diary, tucked it into his chest, put on his clothes, and stepped out briskly, seeing shadows flitting about in the compartment.

Everyone was wielding tools to conduct repairs all around.

Seeing him emerge, they seemed to find their backbone, the tension on their faces eased somewhat.

”Which compartments are leaking the worst at the moment?”

Su Huan glanced at Yu Jing, who wore suspender trousers and long boots, and asked.

”At present, other than compartments 4 and 5, no compartment window is completely intact, only the storage compartment is fully enclosed and hasn’t been affected, other compartments have all been corroded by acid rain, especially seriously after compartment 15.”

”Their compartments weren’t sealed with steel plates, larger windows led to more severe corrosion.”

Su Huan breathed a sigh of relief; as long as the supply compartment was fine, it wouldn’t be a big problem.

”No casualties, right?”

Lin Xia, standing by, raised her hand, ”Two in the back compartments, one had an asthma attack from absorbing too much acid rain, the other showed symptoms of poisoning, by the time I discovered it, it was too late.”

”What about the others?”

”Three had their eyes splashed by acid rain, but have been rinsed with clean water, the specific sequelae will be known in a few days, dozens had large area rashes from skin contact with acid rain, some people’s skin peeled, all are ordinary people.”

After Lin Xia finished speaking, Yu Jing added, ”The ordinary people in the back are afraid to touch the acid rain now.”

”There’re rain boots, raincoats, rubber gloves in the miscellaneous pile in compartment 8, let Lao San... where’s Lao San?” Su Huan was halfway through speaking when he suddenly didn’t see the familiar figure, turning to Lao Er for answers.

Lao Er, holding an assault rifle, wore a black raincoat, ”Lao San was afraid people in the back might get funny ideas, so he’s standing guard on the fire truck, he sent me to hear what arrangements the train captain made.”

Su Huan realized, ”Lao San thought it through, you three brothers’ task tonight is to guard the weapons and ammunition for me, without my orders, no one is allowed to get close, if they don’t heed the warning, use the onboard weapons freely, and shoot them on the spot!”

”Understood!”

Lao Er responded loudly, and walked back quickly.

Stepping on the ground made a crackling sound.

The dining car floor was covered with a thin layer of acid rain, one can imagine the situation in the back compartments.

Yu Jing spoke from the side, ”There should be drainage holes designed in the compartments, using a high-pressure air pump to blow them clear can quickly improve drainage efficiency.”

Su Huan slapped his forehead, almost forgetting that these things were pre-designed.

They definitely considered various special situations, as the circumstances were urgent, Su Huan quickly assigned tasks.

The translator, along with defender Zhang Kai, went to distribute the rain gear to Wang He, then led the workers to begin drainage work in the rear compartments.

The air pump is on the car, and there’s a mobile power source, drainage won’t be a problem.

Liang Kuan was responsible for cutting off the entire train’s power and inspecting the damage to the front of the train.

Huang Sea and the female Engineer were tasked with checking the compartments, especially the hydrogen-powered train, dismantling potentially dangerous parts if necessary.

To Su Huan, as long as he had the engine, it was enough.

Su Huan’s gaze finally fell on He Jie, who was standing arms crossed on the side, ”You go and rest.”

He Jie glanced around, everyone was busy, ”Don’t you need my help?”

”Who lets people work on their first day?” Su Huan raised an eyebrow, turning to the boy in the wheelchair, ”Xiaoba, go repair the compartment, I’ll take He Jie back.”

Xiaoba nodded earnestly, his black-white eyes looking at He Jie, though he said nothing, the meaning ”you should head back to your room now” was clearly conveyed.

He Jie took a deep breath through clenched teeth, turned his head, and left irritably.

”Not giving a shred of trust!”

He still wanted to take advantage of the chaos to see the armament layout on the train.

Such a long train, who wouldn’t be curious how much stuff is hidden on it...

”There’s nothing to see in the back, just ordinary people.” Su Huan said lightly.

He Jie glanced at him, ’Whatever you say, do you think I’ll believe it?’

The two returned to the room in compartment 4.

He Jie sat on the bed, looking at Su Huan smiling across from him, unable to hold it back, ”No need to watch me like that...”

”You are a guest of honor on the train.”

He Jie’s demeanor suddenly changed, his face shifting from helpless to fierce, his knuckles cracked loudly, grinning with menace, ”I mainly rely on firearms for combat, but after all, I’m a defender with level 3 strength, defense, and constitution, isn’t the train captain standing too close to me a lack of consideration?”

Su Huan remained calm, a flicker of flame rose in his hand, initially as weak as a lighter’s flame.

Then it elongated between his index and thumb, finally stretching between both hands.

Terrorizing energy gathered slowly in his hands over time.

The speed was extremely slow, every slight change was apparent to see.

But the compartment showed no signs of rising temperature, the fire illuminated He Jie’s wavering face, he felt the energy gradually exceeding the warning line, and his expression finally eased, ”Just having a little joke with the train captain.”

Hearing this, Su Huan also breathed a sigh of relief internally.

High-energy compression required time, but He Jie didn’t know that, he had never seen Su Huan’s profession, assuming the slow pace was deliberate pressure.

Opening the nearby window, he threw the flame spear directly out.

A Corpse Pupa drifted by was gently shattered, accompanied by an explosion of flames into the sky.

The unfinished zombie within didn’t even see a shadow before being incinerated into flying ash in the acid rain.

Witnessing the explosive energy, He Jie showed a trace of dread in his eyes.

Su Huan remained calm, this was the most direct affirmation of his strength.

”By the way, you mentioned your strength, defense, and constitution reached level 3, right?”

He Jie immediately understood what he wanted to ask, ”That’s our company’s classification for basic constitution.”

”Logically speaking, your company should have it too, right?”
