Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Chapter 85: Chapter 83: Departure to the Armory!

A pale electric light suddenly lit up inside the off-road vehicle.

The modified off-road vehicle was like a wild horse out of control, plummeting down and crashing into the train moving at 80 km/h.

The train only shook slightly, and the off-road vehicle was bounced off.

The Butcher, struggling to pursue behind, saw the small metal box falling in front of him, and his black-red eyes suddenly lit up.

A pleasant surprise?!

He immediately lost interest in the departing train.

His thick soles splashed through the rain as he carried half a metal door over.

Open the box!

...

Inside the vehicle, Su Huan felt a bit regretful.

If only he had more time, he could have compressed even just a third of his energy into a fire spear and turned Captain He into roasted chicken mid-air!

But none of that mattered as long as they could get to the arms shipment before the others.

The ”armored” in armored train would then truly live up to its name.

Ever since He Jie appeared here, it wasn’t hard to guess that the Steel Council’s plans had changed. Whether or not the new city project could unfold smoothly as it did in the previous life remained to be seen.

However, Lin Jin was definitely in the Steel Council, and there was no escaping it.

The train whistled forward. The tall buildings on either side gradually disappeared, replaced by vast industrial parks and some governmental units, many of which weren’t even marked on civilian maps.

After another ten minutes or so, the acid rain not only hadn’t stopped, it had gotten heavier, turning from initial drizzle into large raindrops.

The armored train’s windows weren’t entirely intact, with many of them patched with steel plates.

Now the entire carriage was filled with the metallic tang of corrosion.

Hurried footsteps approached as Yu Jing walked in quickly, ”The first ten carriages’ water tanks are full. Should we continue with the rest? The acid rain concentration is above standard, so the filters may need replacing.”

Su Huan frowned, ”Isn’t it a big purifier? It’s giving out so soon?”

”The pH adjustment device added later needs replacing.”

Su Huan calmly replied, ”Then replace it. Don’t worry about waste. The outside water is polluted. What we have in our tanks isn’t just water, it’s life!”

”They’ll pay a satisfactory price to buy their lives.”

”Okay, I understand. I’ll open the water tanks for the combined eight carriages for the crew, construction team, and combat team.”

Yu Jing replied crisply, her gaze falling on the scar on Su Huan’s hand, casting a questioning glance at her mother but saying nothing.

Su Huan waved his hand, ”Do it, but attach a separate water meter for them and log the usage.”

Yu Jing turned and left.

Su Huan first made a round in the cockpit; Xiaoba and his companion had no issues, as the train front had the thickest armor, even a heavy sniper at a hundred meters couldn’t penetrate 30mm armor.

Let alone from a kilometer away.

Then Lao San mentioned Lu Xiao wanted to see him, prompting Su Huan to rush to the rear carriage.

He was met with a wave of exclamations.

Lu Xiao’s eyelids twitched upon seeing Su Huan’s damaged hand and the deformed bullet.

”So you missed, right?”

”I caught it bare-handed.”

”If you caught it bare-handed, I’ll put my head under the car wheels.”

”Then prepare to disembark.”

”?”

The train slowly came to a stop, outside was an unsuspecting factory enclosed by brick walls.

Lu Xiao was momentarily stunned, ”You weren’t planning to use those few guns to fight against the army, were you?”

Su Huan tossed the bullet to him and said indifferently, ”Isn’t there still you?”

Lu Xiao weighed the bullet head in his hand; it was solid, but absolutely couldn’t have been caught bare handed, not even when weakened.

Su Huan’s methods were much more mysterious than he imagined.

As for what Su Huan said, Lu Xiao didn’t believe a word, thinking the conductor’s words were as fancy as his train was fast.

In the meantime, Lao San and a few others brought boxes from the clutter in carriage 8 with the crew.

”Is there an assignment?”

Jiang Rong quietly approached.

Su Huan pointed to the boxes behind him, ”Compulsory mission. There are two hundred raincoats inside, distribute them, and each squad can take one fire truck.”

Lu Xiao frowned, ”Our team has 13 people, one fire truck isn’t enough.”

”There’s another fire truck, you can drive it, but remember to log it.”

”Everyone sets out in five minutes.”

...

”Swoosh——”

The searchlight pierced through the rain, the carriage door opened, and an off-road vehicle rushed out, splashing a ring of rainwater.

Three fire trucks and an SUV followed closely behind.

In the murky rainwater, the convoy advanced into the distance.

The armory wasn’t built next to the tracks but in a military building ten kilometers away.

It wasn’t on the map, but the surrounding structures hadn’t changed much in four years, allowing for some navigation based on memory.

The armory’s security was very high, consisting of two levels: the first was electronic safes, and the second was the physical security of blast doors.

The former was easy, he could just handle it personally to disable it.

The trouble was the blast doors themselves; there were no keys.

It was unclear whether the fire truck tools could forcibly cut through.

In the off-road vehicle, Su Huan bit his finger joints, the faint stinging in his palm always distracting his thoughts.

His little actions were completely caught by Yu Yue in the back seat, her fingers tangled, eyebrows knit.

Acid rain exposure could lead to infection and inflammation of wounds, possibly worsening to amputation.

Should she remind him?

Two small Yu Yues argued in her mind.

’He humiliated you, yet you’re concerned about him, shameful!’

’But he saved me today...’

’You’re just singing on his lap, shameless!’

’I didn’t.’

’He was merely protecting his toy!’

’I’m not...’

——

”How about bandaging it? The acid rain will inflame the wound.”

Yu Yue finally couldn’t help but speak up from the back seat.

Her voice was flat, without much emotional fluctuation.

’It’s out of professional ethics, not concern for him, right, that’s it!’ she emphasized inwardly.

Su Huan glanced at his palm; it was just missing some flesh, something not even considered an injury in his past life. With his physique, it’d heal in two or three days. However, being cared for by a woman was quite enjoyable.

”Don’t worry about such trivial matters, focus on silence!”

As his voice dropped, a bolt of lightning suddenly extended in front of the vehicle.

It raced through the rain, striking a blocking zombie.

The high voltage instantly fried its numbed brain and then was crushed beneath the off-road vehicle.

Under Yu Yue’s ability and the acid rain cover, no sound was made.

Due to the scarcity of vehicles in the suburbs, the convoy encountered almost no obstacles and arrived before a large courtyard.

The three-meter high red-brick wall was washed into a murky liver-brown color by the acid rain.

The off-road vehicle did not slow at all, rushing directly at the metal gate.

Driving one of the fire trucks, Lu Xiao recognized the courtyard, but was left with more questions.

How was Su Huan sure this military unit had what they needed?
