Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Chapter 93: Chapter 90: Triple Burst!

He Jie sat on the ground, loading bullets into the magazine one by one.

The crisp sound was like a grinding beast, ready to strike fatally at any moment.

Earlier, he was like a gambler who had placed everything on the table, and now he’s a gambler who has lost all his possessions, deeply in debt, with his only hope being to turn the tables.

The situation has now reversed.

There were benefits too, as he moved from the open to the shadows.

”Flower Dog, write this down for me—”

”Flower Dog is already dead; Black Dog will record the subsequent information,”

another scout said.

He Jie paused for a moment and continued speaking.

”They have at least two manipulators, one who can manipulate sound, and another who can control currents, possibly the group mentioned in the information who clashed with Evolution Beasts on Mojiang Bridge in the high-temperature zone.”

”Also, they have rich combat experience and strong counter-surveillance awareness, likely operatives sent by other forces to cause chaos.”

At this point, He Jie thought of those five grenades.

He always had a feeling that the opponents saw through him, although there was no basis for it, but defenders rely on intuition, not reason.

”What about their mutation levels?”

The scout looked up at him.

”Write their mutation level as approaching Tier One, no, just write Tier One.”

He Jie pondered Su Huan’s current strength and carefully spoke.

He actually thought that Su Huan hadn’t reached Tier One, otherwise, as a fellow Tier One, he couldn’t have survived the other’s currents so easily without serious injury.

The destructiveness of such manipulators is often terrifying, capable of easily crushing them defenders in the early stages.

Only by reporting this way can they get attention from above.

And to some extent, alleviate the pressure of this mission’s failure, though failure is still failure, but leaving a chance for a turnaround is good.

”If, when returning, you don’t see White Dog and the others, add a piece of information there are unknown Tier One Evolvers on the train.”

”Alright, it’s all recorded.”

”Then, exit the battlefield and take the information back.”

Black Dog paused for a moment and clearly agreed, ”Yes.”

Silently placing the extra magazines on the ground, he quickly exited the building.

”They’re coming.”

The demolition expert said in a low voice, gripping something tightly in his hand.

He Jie instantly loaded the magazine into the rifle, slapped the ground with one hand, flipping himself up, his eyes emitting a fierce glint, ”Prepare for combat!”

”Wait a moment, the number of vehicles doesn’t match!”

He Jie rushed forward quickly, glancing down to see only an SUV and a firetruck.

The other two firetrucks and off-road vehicle had vanished.

The opponent was clearly playing deception tactics.

The demolition expert turned to look at him, ”Do we fire or not?”

He Jie didn’t hesitate, raising his gun, ”Fire!”

...

A sniper lay on a high-rise building a kilometer away, beneath him a metal frame that shielded him from the flowing acid rain, covered in a massive tarp.

Holding a massive heavy sniper rifle, its bipod sitting on the ground, he observed the battlefield through his scope.

From this position, he could see the situation in most of the area.

The explosions at the start of battle didn’t escape his keen eyes.

However, he quickly noticed something wrong.

Another convoy was approaching from a different direction.

After hesitating for a moment, he chose to swing his gun around, aiming the crosshair at this incoming convoy.

The acid rain severely impaired his vision, but relying on his evolutionary ability, lv2 ”Sniper Specialization,” he still had an 80% confidence of hitting his target.

Adjusting his breathing and mindset, considering all factors.

At the moment the firetruck turned the corner, he pulled the trigger.

The unique thunder-like boom of the heavy sniper echoed atop the building, and the rainwater accumulated on the tarp instantly flew upwards, as if a high-explosive had been tossed into water.

Sending a towering spray.

The firetruck’s side window burst open, crashing into a roadside shopping mall, attracting a horde of zombies.

’Hit.’

He had no concern about the driver’s survival odds, armed with a 12.7 anti-materiel sniper rifle; a grazing hit was a kill.

Let alone a direct hit.

Foregoing the tactic of shooting and relocating, being the sole sniper on the battlefield, he was desperately needed to turn the tide.

Moreover, he was a kilometer away.

With the opposing standard sniper rifles and this heavy rain, hitting him was laughably impossible.

He turned the gun, directly aiming at the next firetruck’s driver.

But at that moment, a sense of unease suddenly washed over him.

Instinctively looking up, he saw a streak of blue light cross two kilometers, tearing through the rain curtain, charging toward him without hesitation.

Silent as it passed through, like a blade slicing through tofu.

The blue light continued two kilometers past the sniper’s body, before vanishing into the heavy clouds.

He glanced towards the origin of the blue light.

A silhouette in a black raincoat stood atop a small building with a massive 1.8-meter-long anti-materiel electromagnetic sniper rifle in hand, electric arcs buzzing around him, repelling the acid rain from the gun.

Su Huan took a deep breath, his heart resuming its slow beats.

The sniper rifle capable of Mach 5 shots gave him an energy-exhausted suffocation at the moment of firing.

Though it was mere misperception due to the instantaneous energy demand of the sniper rifle.

With his current physique, he could likely operate the gun fifteen more times.

Not due to lack of energy, but uncontrolled energy draw risked tearing his body apart.

’Better initiate a Pan-energy upgrade.’

Su Huan mused to himself.

Adding a Pan-energy Crystal and supplementing with his abilities would alleviate much of the strain.

But that was for later.

Su Huan adjusted his aim, pointing at another battlefield section, though unable to see Captain He and the others, the flashes of light from the buildings testified to their presence.

’Five hundred-meter distance, wall thickness 50 centimeters, hyper-speed mode, triple shot...’

The capacitor array at the back of the gun pulsed with a bluish glow, superconductive coils oscillating at 20 kHz, illuminating in succession like dominoes, spreading from the chamber to the muzzle with a crystalline cracking sound akin to glass shattering.

Su Huan felt his ”Pan-energy Core” suddenly contract, massive energy was absorbed and converted to electricity.

1.2 seconds later, the bullet was fired.

A conical shockwave vaporized the water in its path into mist.

Moments passed before the sonic boom echoed afar.

Yu Yue, standing nearby, said anxiously, ”The distance is too far, the sound can’t be suppressed.”

Su Huan didn’t respond to her, his sniper rifle beginning another charge cycle, his heart, still recovering, contracted further again.

Flickering snake-like arcs of electricity cast Su Huan’s face in ashen hues.

As the third shot was fired, the barrel glowed red hot, and Su Huan’s face paled alarmingly.

Yu Yue rushed to support him, noticing his sharp nose, trembling fingers checking his pulse.

”He’s not dead.”

”Don’t talk!”

Even when angry, her voice carried a soft, charming tone.

It wasn’t until she heard his steady heartbeat thirty seconds later that she sighed in relief.

Staring at the radial holes in the distant concrete wall, Su Huan chuckled softly, ”I’m alive, but they might not be.”
