Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Chapter 90: Chapter 87: Flesh Evolution

He Jie was so angry that he ranted furiously, slapping his ear, ”Fuck you, you little brat!”

Meanwhile, he gestured with his hand, indicating for the units to advance quickly.

He himself charged into the building like a cannonball.

But even faster than his hurried footsteps were the five grenades rolling out with a clatter, making He Jie’s head go dark instantly. He had just touched one grenade, and the brat had already tossed them all out!

With such skill, it’s as if they came from the same training camp.

He could only gulp down his anger and turn to dive aside.

”Boom, boom, boom...”

A series of explosions echoed inside. Su Huan hid behind sandbags, waiting a moment before a grenade crashed through the window and got thrown in.

He smirked; it was the same old tactics.

Toss in a grenade before entry, explode if possible, blast if feasible. In the early days of the apocalypse, most armed personnel followed this principle.

Later, it turned into battles of power, gods clashing.

Closing his eyes, he buried his head into the sandbags.

Once the flashbangs and grenades exploded, he didn’t even lift his head, pulling the trigger instead.

The long-dormant Iron Rain 14.5 anti-aircraft machine gun’s twin barrels burst into fire, aiming straight at the central door of the building.

In an instant, the explosive thundered.

It was like Thunder God pounding an anvil in the clouds, each hit distinctly making everyone’s heart tremble, people around staring fixedly at the ammunition belt galloping crazily into the gun like runaway wild horses.

Ten-centimeter-long full metal shells leapt like tides, landing on the ground.

Suddenly, the gunfire ceased.

The building resonated with rumbling echoes.

Narrowing his eyes, Su Huan looked forward, and sure enough, a body shredded by the barrage lay ahead.

No kidding, getting hit head-on by an anti-aircraft machine gun powerful enough to take down helicopters, not even Xiaoba nearby could have saved him.

Suddenly, several shadows rushed inside again, without the slightest hesitation for their fallen comrade.

”Heh, I still don’t get you...”

Su Huan sneered, pulling the trigger again, firing off all remaining bullets.

”Bang, bang, bang—”

The moment He Jie rushed in, he felt as though the air in front of him was completely sucked away.

Looking at the twin gun barrels, it felt like Grandma was waving at him.

”Rise!”

A sudden shout burst from beside him!

The air in front of him wavered suddenly, and the bullets were disrupted, flying upwards.

”Pop!”

A faint, crisp sound appeared at the man’s forehead who just spoke.

Following his last sight before falling, Aunt Yu was squatting in the corner, holding a sniper rifle steadily, her face behind the scope pale and frightening.

The airstream brushed past his scalp, and He Jie, who narrowly escaped King Yama, had no time to rejoice. Holding his assault rifle, he was about to vent his anger on Su Huan.

But at the next moment, a familiar high-voltage current surged from the ground.

The cold blue arc followed the traces of water on the ground, hitting like a knife.

This level of electric shock was not much of an issue for his physique, but the muscle paralysis side effect was a lot of trouble.

Five people were being forcibly restrained by Su Huan.

No need for Su Huan’s reminder, the moment his gunfire stopped, Lao San and the others already opened fire.

He Jie and his group were gambling on that fleeting moment.

Unfortunately, Su Huan was going for a hard control style, giving them no chance to turn the tables.

High-explosive armor-piercing rounds burst into bloody flowers on two people’s faces.

Two others, incredibly, rolled on the ground while enduring Su Huan’s current, dodging the shots aimed at their heads, trying to run outside.

One of them was He Jie, and the other soldier’s body quickly swelled as if mutating.

No, it looked like it was indeed mutating.

The originally fitting bulletproof vest was exploded by bulging muscles, tough skin split open, revealing bright red openings, and the height surged rapidly.

It charged towards everyone against the barrage.

Su Huan frowned, ”Aim for the head and shoot.”

Liang Kuan and the others quickly turned their gun muzzles, a burst of high-explosive armor-piercing rounds ended the rapidly transforming figure, leaving it headless on the ground.

”Boom...”

The body continued to swell, from an original height of about 1.7 meters to 2.3 or 2.4 meters, with arms as thick as ordinary people’s thighs.

Like a mass of frenziedly proliferating flesh.

The entire battle was extremely brief, lasting less than half a minute from start to finish. Even Lu Xiao, who prided himself on his resilience, was left at a loss for words.

Especially witnessing the combat quality and bizarre abilities these people displayed.

None of which he could handle.

Yet this group suffered such a devastating defeat against Su Huan, with six people coming in, all but the leader accounted for here.

Whether considering it from Su Huan’s perspective or He Jie’s.

He admitted he couldn’t do any better.

Saying so might sound a bit self-promoting... the truth is, regardless of whose perspective, he would be the one brutally slain.

Lu Xiao let out a long sigh.

Su Huan naturally paid no attention to his expression, first giving each corpse on the ground a couple more shots before checking the others’ conditions.

Very good.

No one was vomiting like in movies or TV shows.

Only Auntie looked so pale it was heart-wrenching.

He had already noticed the precision of that shot earlier, so he cast a look of appreciation her way.

Most eyes from the crowd hiding in the corner were focused on the corpses or the equipment.

Only one gaze fell on Yu Yue, with a hint of admiration and an almost imperceptible envy.

”What is this thing?”

Lao San kicked the swollen flesh giant on the ground.

Blood gushed from the chest cavity.

Someone murmured in uncertainty, ”Is this... mutation?”

Lao San spat back without a second thought, ”Bullshit, I know it’s mutation!”

On the entire train, apart from the conductor and women and children, Lao San cursed no one!

Su Huan cast a glance at the body on the ground, shaking his head, ”This isn’t mutation, just a direction of evolution for the Maker.”

”Maker?”

Upon hearing this term, Yu Yue, who was lost in thought, abruptly raised her head, staring at the corpse with fear in her eyes.

”Don’t overthink it, this is just one extreme route of evolution. Normal Makers prioritize external objects like machinery, vehicles, weapons, and various high-tech products, but a very small number use their bones and flesh as mechas, undergoing extreme evolution...”

Su Huan briefly explained to calm Yu Yue down.

But there was one thing he didn’t tell her the truth about.

This wasn’t just a small number...

Many Makers, in pursuit of early combat power, take the path of flesh evolution.

The talented push the limits of life, while the incapable break ethical boundaries.

Hence, there emerged those playing with taboos.
